What an epic trip and you captured those wide open areas brilliantly. 40+ yrs of riding and I just ordered a 2023 Triumph Scrambler 900 last week - can't wait. Cheers from Canada, great video, Ronny
This video is a year old so maybe you won't even see this comment, but if you do, thank you!!!. I came across your vlog because I've been looking at all things triumph scrambler & it just magically appeared thanks to TH-cam algorithms. My thanks is because of the landscape you rode through & did a brilliant job of showing it in an all it's raw beauty. I grew up in Santa Fe NM & from 1986 to 90 lived & went to university in Austin. I left the state's in 95 moving first to the Czech Republic and in 2000 moved to the UK were I've lived ever since. It's been so long that I don't really miss anything but tamales, Frito pies from Walgreens on the plaza and the raw rugged beauty of the landscape. Was nice to see it again. A man can leave the desert, but the desert never leaves the man !.
Thank you for posting this! I plan on a northern New England/Nova Scotia tour with my Scrambler at the end of this summer - I appreciate the gear list you posted. Doesn't seem like you made any mods to the bike, and she did well on the longer days.
I’ve tested all the imaginable tire combinations on my Scrambler 900 and most of them are excellent, but the Continental TKC80 are with no doubt the best of all.
So very glad you enjoyed it! If you haven't already, please subscribe to the channel for more "stunning scenery." And pass the word - thanks for your support.
Really enjoyed the “feel”of the ride. Ben in that area many times but always restricted to the confines of a front windshield. It is hard to take in the vastness of the view and texture of the land. You did a good job expressing that though. Thanks for the work in putting this together.
Really appreciate that; a lot of work goes into each video. If you haven't done so - please subscribe (hit that notification bell to the right of the "subscribed" button) - there will be a new video each week. And please pass the word. You're right - the "confines of a front windshield" does hamper the "feel." I'll need to make more time for my next trip out that way, as 1 days was nowhere near enough time. Hope you'll stick around for more videos.
Thanks for sharing. I love seeing the topography changes going East TX bayous to piney woods, Hill country, and the West TX plains. Then all of a sudden, you're in big bend country.
Hey, Brandon! Thanks for commenting - I agree, Texas covers so much ground, it's hard not to appreciate the variety of landscapes. Hope you subscribed to the channel. A new video comes out each week. If you're up to it - it helps to get a thumbs. Best you.
Just fabulous video! Thank you! I hope that there are strategically placed gas stations or convenience stores along this route! Pushing that bike wouldn’t be fun!
Great point! Yes, I had a really map out when and where to stop. Hope you have subscribed I have since bought a Triumph T120 Black and will be putting out some videos in the new year. Best to you and your during this holiday season.
Thanks for checking out the video. I hope you've subscribed & given me a thumbs up. Please pass the word - I have a new video each week. Please pass the word. Best to you!
Head on out to Mesa AZ and have a great trip. Love to see you here. You need to put up some more videos. Tell us something about yourself and what you are doing.
Very nicely done and good music, too. I am in North Carolina and have not seen the horizon since last October when we went to the beach. Out there, you could see all the way to the horizon most of the time. Jealous, but I guess I like our trees. Keep the videos coming. I have a '17 SS.
Hello - thanks for stopping by! It's funny - I was just visiting my dad in Northern California and commented how I appreciated their mountains and hills which seemed to block you from seeing what's just around the corner, how it helped to contrast the landscape. I do appreciate seeing the horizon - thanks for helping to remind me. What color is your 2017 SS? Still riding? I hope you've subscribed and gave me a thumbs up. And I'll tell you what: you pass the word about Wolf On The Road, and I promise "keep the videos coming!" Where in N.C.? I was stationed at Ft. Bragg some years ago. Best to you!
@@wolfontheroad2262 Mine has the red tank with a silver stripe. We ride almost year 'round but there is snow and ice on the road this weekend so it is in the garage. I live in Charlotte but also was at Bragg for basic training back in the M-14 days! Subscribed.

This is exactly what I've been dying to do. I live in Katy, TX and was looking to buy a nice classic Triumph that could fit in the back of my mid size truck with a 5' bed so I was considering the 2023 Scrambler 900. I think that is the same bike you have with just a name change. I wasn't sure if it would be as capable as the Scrambler 1200 XE. That model is too long to fit in the bed though. I want to do pretty much the same route except I was thinking of staying in Alpine. If I could do a few days then I could spend maybe 2 days touring through Terlingua following the Rio Grande down to Beg Bend and then back up to Alpine. I'm glad I found your video. It answered a couple of my questions with regards to some of the back dirt roads. Did you ride all the way from the Austin area, or did you trailer to the Davis Mountains and the ride to Big Bend? I'd be interested in having a conversation since you have done exactly what my bucket list is calling for. Hope to hear back from you with any answers as well as any good advice. Great video by the way.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment. Yes, I rode all the way from the Austin area up to Fort Davis, which became kind of a homebase for my trips around the Fort Davis area, and then down to Big Bend and back. The scrambler, in my opinion is more than capable. Seems like it would be a great time of the year to head on and check that box on your bucket list! Sure, I’m open to having a conversation. I am swamped with projects his week, but maybe next week. Not sure how we can instant message each other as sharing a phone number here probably isn’t a good idea. I’m not that tech savvy. Let me know your thoughts. Best to you and congratulations.
Super comfortable- still using it - winter & summer, Check out my review: Should You Buy A Sheepskin Motorcycle Seat Cover? My Honest Review #2022TriumphStreetScrambler th-cam.com/video/BMrXQEqSrxs/w-d-xo.html
Beautiful video, amamazing adventure. Anyone have guidance on the street scrambler 900? I have a speed triple 1200 rs and a thruxton rs....I'm not a speed demon nor a knee dragged but do appreciate some power when needed, appreciate the stability and stoutness of a solid chassis, brakes, and suspension. Would the Street Scrambler 900 be too small or underpowered and wind up being just gorgeous to look at in the garage? From videos and reading....I want one! Just don't want to get bored. Thank you for the video and the insight!
I never noticed a lack of power…That said, I now own a 2022 Triumph T120 and the “available power” is noticeable in comparison. It depends on what you’re looking for
Thanks for your reply. Yes, the trip was indeed incredible. I would say just to be safe, about 125 miles , those sometimes I was able to make it much more than that. During this trip, I wanted to be safe and stop for gas whenever I could. All the best.
Hopefully you can brother. Just uploaded another video today if you want to check it out. Love to see you in the comments. Let me know how the license goes. It’s time to get you on the road!
Very good quality! Nicely done. How brutal was the ride between Austin and Davis Mts? West Texas roads can be a snooze fest, but they're required to get to the fun National Parks
No doubt, Ian! In truth.....it was "...a snooze fest," at times. Much was exciting (for me) because it was my first (and thus longest) road trip, and I was "solo." So that sense of ("okay...what could happen at any moment") was always there. So I'm guessing you are from Texas (West?). Do you ride? Thanks for checking out the video. I hope you've subscribed & given me a thumbs up. Please pass the word - I have a new video each week. Please pass the word. Best to you!
I'm 5'8". I think you'd be alright, but don't think someone taller would be comfortable. Are you pretty nimble/are your muscles tight? Longer rides may be more uncomfortable if you don't have much flexibility, especially in your hip flexors. I know it sounds odd, just my thoughts. Is there anything cooler than riding a Triumph Scrambler through a dusty arid land? I don't think so 💪👌🍻
