Business analytics is an area that is currently being explored, and I may have come to terms what concerns my future decisions regarding choosing the right path of education. It sounds like a broad but at the same time an exiting profession leading you around many different industries.
Loved this video especially around the quarter life crisis. It's definitely something I've found somewhat common with successful people. We set higher and higher expectations for ourselves but at some point - what happens when you get everything you want. It's a scary thing. Glad you figured it out so soon!
Only stumbled upon your channel by accident recently Lillian, great to hear about your earlier life story. I left TW a year younger than you, after finishing 5th grade, and spent my teens in NYC. It’s great to have dreams, and living in the big Apple can have that magical effect on people. I joined the FIRE movement a year ago, and am now doing a job that I love instead of looking for that next step up the corporate ladder. It’s important to have goals and dreams still of course, otherwise life might not be as worthwhile living, even if you have a lot of money. As I grow older though, I appreciate more about what Taiwanese called 小確幸, and am less preoccupied with material goods. Anyway, look forward to your next video and maybe I’ll bump into you when we both visit Taipei next. 🙂

Being an international student as well and found a job in US in 2017 after so many rejections so I totally understand the difficulties you have been through. Though I had a lot less internships than you have lol. Moving to Miami alone after graduation is so brave =) I was so scared when I moved to California alone after graduation from east coast but things are getting better and better. Love your channel and hope your dream come true of owning/creating your own thing!

Lovely video Lilian. What do you mean by love problem solving? If I dont like solving mathematical questions or tend to turn to others to solve my problems, does it mean i dont enjoy problem solving? A lot of jobs require one to be good at problem solving so I am wondering to what extent. I also dont like to carry out experiments in lab because the results could be uncertain. Does it mean i dont enjoy working in uncertainty? I am confused.
hi celine! thank u for your question! i think it might be better to assess urself from life outside of work! what i meant by problem solving is - when things dont go as planned in life (outside of work), are you someone who enjoy “solving it” and goes straight into figuring out why something works/doesnt work and coming up with solutions? for me, the harder the problem the more i want to “crack” at it. this may sound childish but I’d spend hours putting tgt a jigsaw puzzle, when things break in the apartment i’d go fix it myself bc i geniunely love solving things and that translate to work as well. so when the team gives me an ambigious business question - instead of feeling lost, I get extremely energized to figure it out and solve it bc that’s already part of how i live 🤔🤣 for uncertainty- when you are thrown into a new environemnt & new situation, does it usually make u feel uncomfortable or does it feel motivating to explore and figure things out? some people like having a routine and are adversed to changes, but as a BA, i work on diff areas of the business which can feel “foreign” at times but its also what i love about it!
@@LillianChiu101 thanks for the insight Lillian. It really got me thinking about myself. I am the kind that highly depend on others if they are better in certain things. I just leave it completely to them and don't put in the effort to solve the problem. For example, i would call my dad whenever i have problems with laptop without really attempting to solve it myself. Generally i don't like to fix electronic stuff. When my friend is using the navigation app to find a location,i won't use the navigation app, unlike others who will help her find the place by opening up their navigation app. I am wondering if these traits make me someone who doesn't enjoy problem solving. Would be nice to hear insights from you and thank you☺️
