    Love it. With everything that George has gone through...cancer diagnosis, cancer treatment, Jeremy helping with her treatment....living with Jeremy..😅.., she is now showing how much trust she puts in him to take care of her. Her obvious belief that as long as Jeremy is with her she can face anything, even a coyote den with a possible mom with pups(spring), and her expression shows she was looking forward to it with excitement. Jeremy doesn't just make her happy, he makes her feel safe and it's truly beautiful.

    The length of that walnut is good money,but cut it few feet below that croch and maybe 6 inches a foot up each separation. The grain patterning for shelf and custom tables would leave you mind boggled.

    So, if Jeremy is headed back to Otter Creek, the New Town Hall meeting must have been scheduled for Tuesday? Or Wednesday? Happy Memorial Day to everyone. Prayers for our @WhatTheHale$ Family and Crew as well! 😊

    Interesting fact on Coyotes. It is a myth that they are nocturnal, that theory came from city slickers that are only used to seeing them at night, which is normal in the city. As Coyotes like to avoid human contact. In the rural areas coyotes forage during the day time. So that’s why the Coyote got your chicken during the day time. They are never safe in reality where any opportunistic predator lurks.

    To dog proof an enclosure take metal fence 4 feet tall bend it 90 degrees in half so 2 feet up 2 feet out, lay it at the base around the entire enclosure, dogs dont dig in a way that would allow them to get under naturally. I have had that setup around my chicken run with coyotes here with no issues.

    Coyotes are opportunistic hunters. For the most part they hunt at night but if it finds a potential food source they will hunt day or night especially if they have pups.

    That was a Barn Swallow nest. They are similar to a Purple Martin and eat mosquitoes and other bugs on the fly. It is estimated that they eat 12,000 mosquitoes a day. I have three Barn Swallows nests under my deck and have 4 Martin House Condos on 18’ telescoping steel poles. They both will leave at the end of July so I plugged in my bug zappers about the middle of June. The baby barn swallows stick their butt over the mud nest and poop. The purple martin parents carry off the poop out of the nest. Just a nature lesson!

  • @andrewcoates6641
    @andrewcoates6641 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I maybe wrong, but those bones looked to me to be the remains of a dead deer, especially when you look at the pile of grey/ brown fur that was just nearby, although I would have thought that the bones would have been scattered around a lot more by the coyotes on the property. This could be another area to scatter some zoo poo around in.

    The "swimmin hole" water was pristine and beautiful to see. You have an amazing place, and so much to explore, especially after heavy rains in the area where the creek beds may release more fossilized mammal teeth or other shiny surprises. Can't wait to see the bird aviary whene it's installed, and I'm sure the peacocks and chickens will have a great time greeting new bird friends over time.

    Jeremy and George, I came across an article the other day about guinea fowl. A lot of people have them to protect their animals especially their chickens. They get rid of snakes and will chase coyotes off your property. They love to eat mosquitoes and ticks and most of the time they stay outside. Thought you might want to look into getting several of them to help you protect your other animals. So sorry when one of the chickens are killed.

  • @TheBioExplorer
    @TheBioExplorer ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm pretty sure the white and yellow slime on the stump is a slime mold. They come in various colors and different types decompose different things. Many like that one decompose dead wood. They are usually harmless... but here is a fun spooky fact... You've probably heard stories of supposedly haunted houses where the walls bleed. People run screaming and when they come back with others the next day it is all gone. Well at .least in some cases it was shown not to be blood... but instead it was a red slime mold. It was living in the walls where it was decomposing the wood framing. At night in the dark it would ooze through the walls.... but in the daylight it would retreat back into the walls. Slime molds move (very slowly) by protoplasmic streaming. In college I used to keep one as a pet in a petri dish in a drawer of my lab desk. Each day I would drop in a few wet rolled oats to feed it. Well I had to go somewhere for a few days. When I came back it was GONE. Since I wasn't there to feed it.. it crawled out the dish and had gone somewhere in search of food.

    Jeremy and George,
    Please, PLEASE!!
    Make sure that the coyotes do NOT dig under the bird aviary!!
    Your babies will never be able to escape if they do!!
    You should probably put chicken wire fencing down in the ground at least 3-4 feet before the aviary goes up.
    I know it would be more $$$ spent, but I would do it if i was you...
    To keep them as safe as possible.
    *EDIT:*

    Dude! Dandelions are NOT weeds! They are incredible medicinals that you can eat, juice, make jelly/jam with, make tea/tincutres, etc. Dandelion root is fantastic for the liver and the leaf is a wonderful diuretic as well as a nerve/spine healer. So if you avoid spraying your lawns, you can pull up those dandelions and do yourselves a favor by utilizing them properly. And they also improve the soil wherever they grow too.

    funny, chickens like cows are the biggest selfish animals of domesticated animals. Chickens seem to have a hollow leg when it comes to food.
    Hens and cows are cliquish critters with one being queen bitty or bossy-boss. They also get the best spot everywhere, including at the feed troughs.. . . . I grew up on a dairy farm.
