Sammy had been performing his ass off practically right out of the cradle. I didn't have much admiration for him when he was alive, but I have certainly changed my tune. My admiration for him is now boundless. I am heartily ashamed of my previous judgmental attitude towards him. The man was an enormously talented survivor in a world not inclined to give him much breathing room.
He was always a favorite of mine. He was the whole package! A born song and dance man that could act .(not to mention his wonderful sense of comedic timing.)
who ever downloaded this jewel. Your spirit is made out of gold.! Ragtime music and the way he did the tap dancing routine wow AND AT HIS AGE and ON FILM. This has to be in a museum.
We need to see and preserve more footage of our talented ancestors and others who blazed the trail before us. For without their contributions, sacrifice and talents we would not be able to enjoy what we so often take for granted today...
Sammy was a treasure of the late vaudeville era who, fortunately for us, also overlapped with the era of film. Donald O'Connor (born the same year) was another. Brilliant dancers, singers, comedians and all-round entertainers... their like won't be seen again, because the era that produced them is gone. Thanks for this upload! Just wonderful.
go sammy....here is a multi talented man that is very underated in my opinion. the man could sing, dance, play instruments, impersonations, act, all self taught.....excellent
What a talent Sammy Davis Jr had to dance like this when he was 6 years old! Didn't see it before; thank you for posting. Susie, thank you for sending me this video of a little miracle!
Thanks so much for posting this clip--such clean sight and sound. I saw Sammy (with Frank and Dean!) at a civil rights fundraiser in L.A. when I was a kid. A sublimely gifted man.
Talented? Sammy Davis Jr. is a legend - the greatest one-man entertainer of all time. He was a singer, an actor, a tap dancer, a drummer, pianist, xyloponist, and a stand up comedian/impressionist. Name a talent as talented as SDJ.
R.I.P Sammy Davis Jr even though you thought no one would care much about you when you die you were so wrong so many people loved you when you were a live and so many people love you now even though your not alive any more. Love you Sammy

It's a shame that the framing of the shot is such that it repeatedly cuts out part of his feet. I came across an old episode of Laugh-In while channel surfing last night. He was on screen at the time, so I stopped, recorded the whole show, and then fast-forwarded through later to watch his bits. Damn, I wish I had appreciated him more when I was younger.
@Shashan1977, The name of this film is "Rufus Jones For President" from 1933. You can find the entire short film here on TH-cam by searching for it by name.
This Cat was amazing even as a child. I am so glad that God gave us him for as long as he did. I had this video but lost it, can you tell me the name of the movie? Thank you for the post. I love Ms. Waters too!
OMG! OMG! Where on earth did you find this one, Bril?!! Too cute... can't wait to show my little, tap-hiphop-any-and-everything music, dance, entertainment loving boys. LOL Joyce TheBrownBoysdotws Mom I'm definitely saving this as one of their favs!!!!

Sammy is freakin awesome!!
How I love Sammy!
Priceless!
His first performance on stage was at the Lincoln Theatre in Columbus, Ohio when he was 3 years old! The theatre just recently reopened.
The poise he shows at age 6 is amazing! Top three child performers I've ever seen are Sammie David, Jr. Michael Jackson and Shirley Temple.
_Fantastic, Sammy_
Incredible showmanship for a child that age

It's a shame that the framing of the shot is such that it repeatedly cuts out part of his feet.

There won't be a Michael Jackson without Sammy Davis, Jr because Michael idolized Sammy whom he asked for advice and guidance when Michael was little.

In this movie, he was supposed to be the mayor of the city, so you are right about him being passed off as a midget.
Here comes the judge indeed.
