Yeah I feel that. My face doesn't naturally emote the same as neurotypical ppl. Ever since I can remember ppl have thought I was sad or upset when I'm actually quite content. I'm starting to realize it's just when I'm not masking. I get so frustrated when ppl don't believe me or keep telling me to smile so they can be more comfortable. First of all my fake smile looks creepy AF😅 second, it's exhausting. I wish ppl would understand that not everyone's going to emote the same way, there's no reason to be uncomfortable about it🥺

An excellent commentary Cecily, I doubt whether many neurotypical people could explain how they think as well as you do. I also think that all your new experiences overseas will help you to be able to feel the way you want to when on stage - sort of like a memory bank to fall back on when you are playing a character who has a certain emotion. You can recall a time when you experienced that or observed someone else who had that emotion. This happened to me when I had to cry on stage - only problem was that I couldn’t turn the emotion off when I needed to as it had become ‘my own’ crying rather than my character’s.😢

I thought you were a musician performing on stage but I had limited experience playing in a schoolband on stage as an autistic person and I would like to say that in a way it also feels like playing a character
