I actually am glad we have yet to see stormtroopers. Because it makes the stormtroopers feel special, and not like the buffoons they were in the kenobi show. And the imperial army is honestly great and it helps humanize the empire and shows us that, there not pure evil.

Wholeheartedly agree. Army troopers give an opportunity to humanize the Empire and Stormtroopers are a force I've felt are way cooler as highly conditioned fanatics. Lifeless elitists which shows a major contrast to their predecessors, the clone troopers.

Between Army Troopers and Stormtroopers you technically have TIE Pilots. I liked the silence the TIE Pilots were upon being debut. At best you only hear two death grunts from TIE Pilots. You don’t see the facial horror of the TIE Pilots about to die within the Eye. Maybe the Stormtroopers will be portrayed as mostly silent, kind of like how they initially were in the opening of A New Hope.

@@GoldenMonarch88 They wouldn't be between them but totally parallel, army troopers are army, the TIE pilots are either a separate air force or attached to army/naval units, their helmets don't necessarily denote skill but rather the fact they're just pilots and that's their flight helmet. But either way they have nothing to do with the ground troops, I mean, no stormtrooper is going to know how to fly a TIE no matter how good they are at being infantry/marines.

@@asneakychicken322 Ok; I was following by what the show has specifically shown us in chronological order, first being Security Officers, Army Troopers, that one scary TIE Fighter that swooped down to intimidate, and then those few TIE Fighter Pilots (despite Andor's crew not directly seeing the pilots themselves). So very possibly after that we'll get Stormtroopers unless the show wants throw in another higher threat on par with TIE Pilots and Stormtroopers. This is also the best way to actually expand the Star Wars universe beyond just the same old story of Sith vs Jedi, Light vs Dark.
The galaxy is huge, and I think that sense of scale is what sparked the imagination of so many fans with the original stories. The irony about the SW franchise is that there's so much potential for storytelling, but so much of the content has centered on the same old characters and conflicts getting retrod over and over.

The slow opening up of the Star Wars universe makes for the best opening path to introduce people to the franchise. A dark and gritty introduction through Andor series one and two, Rogue One, the Original Trilogy, then the Mandolorian, Season one and Two, ending it with the reappearance of Luke acquiring his first student, Grogu, and then nothing else. No Book of Boba Fett. No prequels or sequels. Just a grittier perspective on the Star Wars universe.

One thing to consider is that only to special heroes like Obi-Wan, Luke, Leia, and Han Solo are the stormtroopers actually clumsy. This is probably because these are the heroes meaning they are the best, so they can defeat them more easily while everyone else is just average. I've waited so long for live-action Star Wars to acknowledge the existence of the Imperial Army. Stormtroopers are terribly over-utilized, to the point that most people don't understand that the Stormtrooper Corps is a seperate military branch designed specifically for assaulting dangerous enemies. The regular army troops make up the bulk of Imperial ground forces, and almost the entirety of the garrison forces. It's about time we see that on-screen.

    • @MandoWookie

The next best time we have seen Imperial army troops was Solo. What gets me, is that Andor is turning into the story that was promised by the Solo trailers, before they back pedaled and redid the whole movie.

The Empire used private security details all over the place in the place of Stormtroopers. We also must not forget that the Empire basically never held the Outer Rim. there we stormtroopers in that episode though when the tie fighter pilots were getting into the tie fighters you can barely see them in the hangar

They are supposed to be elite troopers, so it makes sense we have not seen any at all yet. It’s just unfortunate that they have been portrayed as mostly bumbling buffoons present everywhere before.

Because they are (And should be treated as) the Elite Infantry of the Empire. The Imperial Army is what we should be seeing usually. Even then, from what we saw of them in this show, they have been more disciplined and competent than the Stormtroopers in Kenobi. Lets hope the Stormtroopers in Andor will be as threatening as they were in the opening scene of a new hope

To me storm troopers have always been badass and the notion that they have poor aim is laughable. Anyone remember bullseye from the og daredevil movie? Does the fact that he couldn't hit a blind man mean he has bad aim? NO! Dare devil merely had the plot armor necessary to ensure even a guy who is practically incapable of missing would still utterly fail to land a killing blow. Storm troopers are the same they are skilled marksman who happen to be shooting at a character essential to the plot. The fact that they always miss is a plot contrivance, not a statement about their skill in universe

Years ago I watched a fan made video were stormtroopers raided Luke's home and killed his uncle and aunt with fire, like the canonical result. I remember they were really scary on the approach. And I though: "Damn! These are really stormtroopers".

Well they introduced the 'Officers' and then the gray suit grunts fighting the way... and then the Gestapo or secret police in the white suits.
Pretty much everything is based on Nazi's regarding the empire aesthetics, tactics, desires.

While I agree with this idea, I would also like to see the same done to stormtroopers. Show us stormtroopers in their off the clock time, or even Just their daily rutine, give them some characters that do not betray the Empire later on but are also not droids or cartoonish evil.

It reminds me of the fear they portrayed in the first scene of the force awakens, they made the stormtroopers fearsome and seem like trained killers despite the fact that like FN-2187 there could've been other first timers on their first mission, also showing how well trained they really were. But the rest of the movie sucked and made them look like gungans.

I'm actually very tired of Stormtroopers being these cartoonishly incompetent "elites" that have no actual capability of using things like strategy and tactics. I hope when Stormtroopers are brought in, they are more than just plastic-clad meatbags who run in a straight line while holding a gun incorrectly and then dying after missing every shot, despite either standing still or moving in only one direction.

Having Stormtroopers only at the end of the series forces us to make the same escalation path Andor and the Rebels are doing every time they provoke the Imperial structure.
First we only had to deal with the Corpos, which just rented out collaborators and aren't even real Imperial forces.
Then we are watching some skirmishes with the Imperial Army, which is the entry-level Imperial baddies.
When the stakes ramp up, we will watch the Rebels go against Stormtroopers in all their glory!

In my estimation, I always saw the stormtroopers main purpose was political in nature, its role being to protect Palpatine's grip on power. That being to serve as a counterweight to regular imperial army by guarding against possible coups, as well as serve a personal loyal military force that can counted upon to put down uprising amongst general population, due to the army troopers lacking the stomach or level of commitment in shooting or beating unarmed civilians. Think of them as something similar to the real world forces such as Saddam's Republican Guard or considering that SW is based off WWII, Hitler's Waffen SS. They are only elite due to the Emperor's trust in them, thus they are comparatively better trained and equipped as a result of their important role in maintaining power, though nothing really special onto themselves.
