If you add more water to the bucket and pour the water over the extra, then the clay will go through the mesh, and you'll be able to really separate the impurities better.

Thank you for this video! Very helpful and to the point. I live in the northern United States & it’s so cool to see the color differentials in the soil! Our clay is grey and almost blue-ish sometimes.

I'm in upstate NY and was going to plant a tree and got rewarded with a HUGE vein of natural orange clay with small pieces of gray!

Really cool! I found a clay layer in my garden and I did what you did, and actually made a cup out of it. Pretty cool! I don't even have any experience and whatnot. Just a lot of free time.

Hi! I was gardening the other day and found a crazy amount of ready wet and soft type of clay!
I was just wondering, can i just work with it or do i have to do something so it would dry nicely after i shape it into whatever i want?
    Thanks in advance ✌🏼

I would advise adding temper at a rate of 4:1. This gives it more consistency and, when done right, prevents cracking when being fired. But bottom line, if you follow my instructions you should be sweet, always works out for me doong this method. Good luck!

I'm preparing to create ceramic shapes to build the combustion chamber of an experimental high efficiency wood stove known as a Batch Box Rocket Mass Heater. Thanks for the info on prepping the clay. I think I'll try using lots of water and a paddle mixer to break it down to pure slip before I strain it.
