Bhoomi Manjunatha, 5, has been able to rely less on her walker and wheelchair, and more on her own two feet, because of a surgery performed at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
I have cerebral palsy and I hope that she lives a normal life no matter what physical limitations she still has because of her form of cerebral palsy. I have spastic hemiplegia cerebral palsy, and my left arm is more affected than my left leg. However I have been a very rough time from my 5th grade year of elementary school to my junior year of high school from having chronic problems with my left kneecap as a result of dislocation and the complications that developed from having cerebral palsy as I grew up. I had 4 operations into one surgery last year to help me regain my mobility and my left leg back to normal.
Because I had a high riding kneecap, Q-angle discrepancy, and my patella ligament was torn, my orthopedic surgeon was truly listening to me that I needed more than physical therapy. I switched orthopedic surgeons a year before because the previous one was not really listening to what I had to say. I'm 19 now and I'm so happy to have my ability to walk around back. I can't use crutches at all.
I hope she can live a normal life the best she can.
My niece is about to have this surgery in January of 2025 and I’m so nervous
