    Whew! Amazing set. Several people have identified the first two slides (Denis Murphy's and the Brosna). The last slide is Where is the Cat? or Hush the Cat. (or about 8 other names)

    This is great. I love old talented fogies that are really passionate about folk. The problem is there aren't enough of us young ones carrying on the tradition. How many teenagers do you see playing Irish folk?

  • @grahamcurrie7526
    @grahamcurrie7526 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just read a comment way down below from a ‘Gus’ 10 years ago lamenting lack of youngsters playing Trad “How many youngsters do you see playing traditional music. Answer now, 10 years later “Loads !” So good news. OK so maybe I see it in the right areas of Ireland, as well as Trad of all sorts across regions of UK. As for areas without much / any Trad amongst youngsters, like to think just hasn’t reached them yet.

    This is commonly true. However, there are instruments that are now made specifically for fiddle playing as the technique involved is different from classical violin. An example would be the action of the strings or the angle of the bridge.

    physically a fiddle and violin are the same, but fiddle is more a STYLE of music such as celtic and bluegrass, while a violin is usually refering to classical music

    Yea I know, thats great, but put the metal and the folk the other way round and thats uncommon. Not enough have the passion for folk

  • @gedosan
    @gedosan 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    banjodeluxe, if you want to learn violin, then get a teacher. I really suggest you that, or else you will learn false techniques, and end up not able to play everything on it. I play Irish folk myself on violin, and if I didn't had basics, it would be very hard for me.
