Thanks for the question. From our training team - "Any kink in the wire rope requires that rope to be removed. There is no allowable measurable amount that can be acceptable. All kinks regardless of how small are dangerous & can lead to catastrophic failure. This is why they need to be removed from service. The best advice I can offer is take care of the rope & use it safely to make sure that you don’t kink it."

In Europe, wire ropes are specified according to the material's ultimate tensile strength and there are for example 2160, 1960 and 1770 MPa steels.
