The huge flaw with this 'trial' is that some of the jurors are co-conspirators and others are servants of the accused. Doesn't matter that any right-minded person should see guilt, the outcome is inevitable.

The scenes in this segment aren't that horrifying. I haven't seen the 2nd part of the segment yet, but you basically have Romney doing a 180 and Pence looking back.
The worst scene I've seen is the glass breaking as they try to enter the chambers, and watching people with cameo walking around with zip ties. That does say that they came prepared to do this before Trump's speech though...

Some Republican congressmen said their minds were already made up before the beginning of this impeachment and before the last Chump impeachment as well. They shouldn’t be able to participate. If I was selected for jury duty and said that, I should not be a juror. It’s ridiculous how blatant the partisan BS is. They no longer even attempt to hide their corruption or their contempt for the people and their belief that they are above the law. It’s disgusting.
Honestly I’m sure that the majority of Democrat congressmen and women are just as partisan and already have decided to vote by party on any issue before seeing all the information on it out of their partisan politics, greed and desire to hang on to or increase their power. Very few seem to show through their own words or actions that they care about the well being of their constituents who they seem to forget they are supposed to work for, particularly at that level (local politics are not as bad although there is plenty of corruption there as well.). They actually work for their campaign donors, lobbyists for special interests, the NRA in the case of Republicans and some Democrats who both take money from them.... and it is no secret. As far as I am aware no Democrat has had the arrogance or stupidity to come out and say they have already made up their minds. It doesn’t matter, though. It only means in most cases that they know how to play the game better. Due to gerrymandering, etc. (much of it perfectly legal yet still reprehensible) they don’t seem to even think they need to court votes anymore it seems.

Since they negotiated not to show what the "jury" are doing on camera, whomever is speaking should call them out for not paying attention, putting their feet on furniture, etc. If this behavior wouldn't be allowed in a court of law, it certainly shouldn't be allowed by supposed honourable senators during an impeachment trial. I wonder how differently they'd be treating this if one congressman had died, especially if that congressman was GOP. I bet there would be a whole different tone to the situation. The thing is. colaboytje There has been talk of him being bestowed the Congressional Gold Medal which is the equivalent of a Congressional Medal of Honor for a police officer. The highest award that can be given to a member of the police force. He has also been promoted to Asst. Sergeant at Arms in the House of Reps. He truly is a hero.
As a teacher, that lawyer’s warning was such a lovely thing to hear. Hopefully it’ll wake up those who are shying away from this issue in class.

I spent 15 years in the Army, a job where if you so much as roll your eyes at a superior your spending the weekend polishing brass and insubordination can land you in jail and I look at these US senators and think "How the hell can these public servants get away with acting like spoiled angsty teenagers after participating in a literal insurrection and nothing will happen to them, let alone their terrorist cult base?"
This is politics-- a field where a lack of experience is touted as an advantage. The only other professions I can think of where that happens is prostitution or pornography.

The senate is just going through the motions. They never had any intentions of finding him guilty. Even if there was a recording of him saying, “Go storm the Capital”; the senate would say, “That’s not what he meant.”

Honestly, I think someone should call this a mistrial. The right to a fair trial is not being followed if the jurors aren’t paying attention to any of the prosecution’s arguments.
It's kind of silly that they're basically there to determine if their own party members did anything wrong. It's like the police investigating their own conduct. The outcome of any one person's vote is 90% certain, and was before this even started. It's stupid. There'd be a better chance of a 'fair trial' with a random assortment of citizen jurors.

Thanks. Yes. Agree. I have talked to my kids about this and they have seen me cry when the insurrection was happening and when the trial was on a little in the background. I explained why the Capitol insurrection was going on, why people sometimes do bad things because they aren’t caring about others and what they were attempting to do without justification. My kids are eight and under, but I would rather they learn to think through about actions, intentions and right vs wrong activities, rather than ignore the news that is upsetting to adults. Kids know sometimes exactly how you are feeling even if you were to try to avoid “unpleasant” news like the Capitol riot. I want my kids to care about how their actions affect others around them . This is that horrible example of how not to behave.
