I was looking for scenery ideas for my new ho scale train layout and I was sadly disappointed by most of the videos I found on TH-cam. This video restored my hope that there is someone out there with some talent. You, sir, have some serious, amazing talent!! This is beautiful!! You have modeling skill, an artistic eye for detail, and a heart and soul for that lost charm, of a special time period, that makes me sure I was born about 70 years too late. You also narrated this video with charisma, intelligence, an interesting story, helpful hints, history, humor, and I especially love the sounds and music you added! Don't pay attention to the comments that some other bozos posted about the cobwebs in your trees. Anyone who doesn't realize that a few cobwebs are a part of the charm then they are fools. lol. I think your display is exceptionally and immaculately clean! how do you keep it so clean when much of it is eight years old? (as you mentioned.)
I have watched this video three times already (while I sip my favorite Japanese Sencha tea) and it is running a fourth time while I type this review. I have never written a review for anything before, but this inspired me whole-heartedly! I wish I lived near you (I am in Massachusetts) because I bet we'd be good friends. :)

Stunning! Your attention to detail is great, some of those structures are a real credit to you. My favourite: the old wooden oil tank, mainly because the weathering has really captured the look of ancient planks past their sell-by. Your commentary was very enjoyable too!

Wonderful modeling and story telling. I found when building my New Mexico logging railroad that the research of logging history was educatal and interesting. The steam engine was key to the development of industries at the turn of the century. To research than build the logging equipment that was used and simulating the activity on a model railroad is exciting. I developed a script to read and tell the stories and used the model railroad as a movie set. I video taped the result and uploaded the chapters to youtube. It is gratifying to find other model railroaders telling a story. It brings history to life in HO scale, both for the education of the modeler and the public.

I see where you have acquired your MMR status. Wow! A beautiful inspiration for my own railroad. I particularly enjoy the history you portray as my layout will be doing the same in late September of 1942. Your layout tells a story. A story that if not told will be forever forgotten over time. Model Railroading needs more "museums" to preserve our past. A place folks can go to to fall back in time and learn about where we once were. Thank you for your magnificent attention to detail and for the wonderful stories that makes Stonewood Junction come alive.

This is kind of a 'less is more' story in that it is so uncomplicated. I salute you sir for creating so much excellent modeling magic. It's now near Dec, 2017. Hope you 'haven't finished it' yet either !

Have any of the decoder companies come out with sound decoders that sound like a Shay? You know the Shays didn't chuff, chuff, chuff, they sounded so different with the vertical cylinders. 👍

I remember seeing glimpses of your layout and your structure articles in RMC and MR back in the early 70s, so what a treat it is to see it come to life. The music, train sounds and your narration are all first rate, as is of course your modeling. Very beautiful work. Cheers!

This is by far the one of the most realistic looking layouts I have seen to date. You sir are a master at your craft. Thank you for sharing this masterpiece with us. My wife and I collect old horse drawn equipment as well as antiques for the home and this time period is our favorite.

Ooh- big spider web at 12:59.
Fantastic layout & detail. Your detail goes beyond the physical- I like that your layout has a visible history. you show the evolution of the village, mines, etc... . a very natural detail that many miss. Kudos for doing so much without kits and 'pre-fab'.
I'm working on a period layout (1928) & have been doing much research on the period. I hope my layout turns out as well as yours.
