I’m 44 and have gotten back into watching wrestling mostly college but these young kids are fun. If anyone can recommend some up and comers to watch much appreciated

im not sure how i feel on the new scoring system. if a person gets taken down to their back its potentially 7 points? a reversal is still only 2? the margin is way to large for a comeback. it looked like bo was more technical and a better wrestler but zeppeda was much larger. Idk if bo should be at 138

I have to say that was an excellently performed cutback at 1:17 and looked safer than any ive ever seen but it looks like it should still be called. Last time i checked the cutback was illegal for very good reason.

I hurt a lot of guys with the cut back in the late 90s early 2000s….the moment we would hit the mat you would hear “ughhhhhh”…it was legal back then when using the hand to scoop out the leg from behind the knee…
When I saw that I too thought it was well executed, but when I saw your comment, I thought to myself, "I don't believe that is illegal!", I teach my youth wrestlers a version of that, we call it either a kickback tilt or the broomstick, but like I said a variation of that move. I attempted to quickly find the NFHS rule book but the ones I found didn't mention it. What I did find was some commentary on why it's illegal; I guess using your leg to kickout the leg of your opponent in that fashion is what makes it illegal. The way I was taught in high school (way back in the mid 90's) and the way I teach our youth wrestlers is to hop back to block the leg with your hand. And I believe that's where the distinction is. I wonder why the refs didn't call the illegal move?
@@chase86903 He doesn't usually wrestle at 126/132. In 2022 he pretty much wrestled 113 all season. This year he wrestles some at 120 and 126. I could be wrong, but I don't believe I've ever seen him wrestle at 132. Anyway, he's definitely in a growth spurt and it'll be interesting to see where he ends up at.
I went to his clinic in FL he doesn’t look like the size for 138 he said he doesn’t cut unless for big tournaments like super 32 and trials and that he was floating around 135
Well it is smart on Bassetts part to take the pin. It is an off-season match. You never put yourself in a position that you could get hurt once you know your done.

Great wrestling. Zepeda saved more in the tank and Bo looked like he burned up too much energy from being overhyped at the beginning. Zepeda looks a bit heavier than Bo.
They're wrestling under NCAA rules and the NCAA just changed the ruleset to 3pt takedowns just recently. This is one of the first tournaments under the new rule.

The best thing about this video was the sportsmanship Bo had after the match. Yeah he lost, but he took it like a young man that will bounce back next time around💪🏼

Worst thing they ever did with scoring was making a takedown worth 3 points and able to get 4 back points. My son started wrestling this year and I was so confused when they started giving kids 3 points for a takedown, I wasn't aware of this change. I asked a coach about it and he informed me that college changed the rules so they also changed the rules for all ages, I'm not a fan of it at all. Of course my son is a beast on the bottom and has struggled on the feet and on top, so it's been a rough ride lol.

Ramos is Overrated. He BARELY made it through a weak NCAA draw and gained his whole rep on beating a compromised Lee. Lee was a complete shell of himself after the first period of his QF match. He wont admit it( good for him) but he wasn't right, by a long stretch. Credit to Ramos for catching him in the last seconds, but his entire rep is based on a match that wasn't what we thought ( bet the HOUSE). He's lost 7 times in the last year, including to a HS kid. Nah, bruh is solid, but #5 or 6 at best
