So… was there still humanity outside? The house had electricity running after all and seemed in good shape. Was that memory from someone who had also left- an ordinary person not a giver or what not.
I seem to remember that in the book you can't tell at the end if they made it somewhere real, or if they died and he was dreaming it in heaven or something. I never understand in this story why everyone else remembers when he leaves???

Guys, I was referring to every damn movie made with a similar plot. many movies/books have been made been this plot in mind... man, funny how stupid some people are
Ah, such a bad movie. Whole plot doesnt make any sense, especially at end when main character finds house in middle nowhere. How crossing borders will set memories free? Why preventing people to see colors? This movie literally dont make any sense.
I remember reading this book in jr high or high school. I never knew they made a Hollywood movie about it! Such an interesting and dystopic world that's built up
First book that I read that stayed in my memory after more than a decade. I still remember when I was in theaters watching previews for up coming movies when I was first announced. I swore the scenes shown and certain details were so familiar and just before the title for whatever this film was, internationally and outwardly, I said “wait a minute, isn’t this-?” and like if it were the opening to an episode to Invincible, the title dropped with perfect timing. I lost a good pare of pants that day and the chair I occupied might’ve had to have been removed by a biohazard team.
I loved this book. I remember arguing they found people outside, and a classmate countered the claim saying "Jonas was witnessing the last good memories he had, since it's what we do in death" and that hit me

The actual ages of the kids are up to the age of 12 and so whoever made the movie if it indeed was Disney that made the movie they messed it up just the way they messed up the golden compass the fact of the matter is is that these kids are kids and they end up to the age of 12 I’ve even read some of the other books in the series and I have to say that the series is interesting but the people who made the movie are very foolish for changing the way the plot turns out they’re also very foolish for changing the players in the movie

Actually the city government is emotional too. Their actions are driven by fear, hatred and power hunger.
So very true!! They are definitely operating from a place of emotional terror and fear!
Not necessarily. You don’t have be fearful or hateful to be invested in power.

Tbh it was poorly written, emotion could be seen throughout the entire story

I agree. BUT, the movie is good too imo.
The movie is never as good as the book - unless the book was written after the movie came out.

apparently this movie is based on a written novel, i'm sure there it is better explained but as a movie it does feel contrived
