The cancer scan results are in! And... wow. We were hoping for positive cancer news and to be honest, we couldn't have really asked for much more. Cancer scan results are always going to be a nervous experience, but after receiving Malin's results we feel like we're a step closer to saying goodbye to colorectal cancer for good after completing radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
Malin had an MRI and a CT scan to see how the cancer treatment had been progressing, this was the first progress report we'd had since she was diagnosed with colon cancer at the young age of 29. She has had a full round of radiation therapy, and is now about to start her 4th and final round of chemotherapy, she will also be having a major operation to remove the cancerous tumour.

We are a young 'Swenglish' adventure family, that consists of Swedish Malin, English Tom, and babies Charlie & Isabella, who are half and half. We love all kinds of adventures, including travelling around Sweden and beyond in our little budget family campervan, and we're currently building our dream campervan project.
But right now we’re focused on one thing: to be free of cancer. We've been on the journey to recover since Malin received her colorectal cancer diagnosis in late 2022.

When you (Tom) say that your fight and spirit doesnt matter much, I couldnt disagree more because your fight and spirit probably affects Malins fight and spirit, and a good mental health can be strongly linked to a good physical health. Positive attitude can actually contribute to fight this desiase, atleast that is something I believe.

PS. I don't know you guys personally but we are very similar in some ways, I'm Swedish, my husband's Australian but we met in Edinburgh in 2008. And like you, we love the outdoors and travelling. We've also been through hardships and sickness, but honestly, love makes it all work, right? My 51 year old nephew just finished his last round on February 7th and just had his rectal exam, doctor says 98% sure he's cured!, just goes for pet scan on March 15th and has much to look forward to. Best of luck to you, I know it's a hard journey but I do feel positive for your age that everything will come out just fine.

That isn't true, Tom. Your fighting spirit is just as important because she draws from your energy. I'm so happy to hear that, I'm here rejoicing and dancing. Tears of joy. Thanks for sharing. I was really rooting for her. I thought about her a lot. I kept looking out for updates. I was so excited when I got the notification that you guys had posted a video. I'm at work, and I literally stopped what I was doing to watch and hear what you guys had to say. Now I can get off of TH-cam and get back to work....LOL. Go Malin. So proud of you girl.

Such good news! I have had a partial colectomy where the doctors took out quite a lot of the intestines and redirected everything (don't want to describe it all the details) and avoided a colostomy bag. It's been since 2008 and all is well! I'm thinking good things for you and sending you healing vibes! P.S. Please ask your doctor about Lynch Syndrome (also known as Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer gene. You are very young, and Lynch Syndrome causes Colon Cancer at a young age. Many people do not realize they have it. There are a few genes that are affected, mine was the MSH6 gene. I had the partial colectomy and a total hysterectomy with my ovaries removed. It's worth asking about it, if you would have the mutated gene your children could have it as well and it's good to know if they would ever have to be tested for it. Just thought I would mention it.
Oh thank you for sharing your story, it always helps to hear from someone who’s gone through it already! And to hear that it’s all gone well. And about the gene, they’ve done test and doing a research to see if it’s genetic or not. So, like you say, they can keep and eye on the children when they get older but also for my siblings sake.
@@malinandtom I'm glad the doctors are doing genetic research on you. My siblings all had Lynch Syndrome (2 have passed away and one has survived Stage 4 Colon Cancer which was diagnosed in 2000). Some of my nieces and nephews are positive, but are proactive and healthy. And my 3 children are all negative. I was also able to share my genetic testing with cousins, a few were positive and able to also be proactive with their health. You are constantly in my prayers and I know you will be okay!
