I'm a newer barber myself and I definitely agree with you. Every little imperfection will stand out, compared to most other cuts. I have a long way to go with this particular cut, so videos like this are invaluable.
It's very hard for basic civilians like You all that aren't Marines Or Vietnam corman like my dad to the right of me in the picture why doesn't everybody stop trying to steal our valor but I guess imitation is the ultimate form of flattery this guy's flat top would get him hazed in the Marine Corps it's a joke

Doing this since 2006 and it is still a very hard haircut to get good at.
It's tough to find guinea pigs to practice on, let alone do it perfectly.

That's an awesome flattop! But, I think I would have had you kind of round in the back on top with the clipper over comb and come down to the back. Otherwise, I really like this flattop you cut.
Then it would completely eliminate having a square profile and thats a big part of a real flat top
@@victorcarr7276 Yes, the square profile is part of it but I don't mean really rounded. slightly. There is flattops like that and it's still flat on top and still has that squared look because I isue to have it that way. It's a classic style! If I could post pictures I could show you.

Where did you get those clippers??!!!
It’s just an Oster octane. My uncle who unfortunately passed away custom made the vac attachment for the clipper. I just drilled the attachment into it and added a hose and plugged it into a stick vacuum motor.

Thanks man! I actually just use a stick vac from Amazon and I have a custom made attachment for my clipper.

Newbie here. Curious to know why you only used water to blow dry the hair and not gel. I’ve seen other barbers wet the hair, add gel, then blow dry. Any difference ?

Water, as does the heat from the hair dryer, breaks hydrogen bonds and allows you to straighten hair. I also will use hair spray to help cheat a bit, I don’t have to use as much water. Don’t use gel or anything gummy, it’ll mess up your blades. 💈

It sure love this tutorial was in HD. 480p makes it pretty hard to see details and that’s the name of the game with barber work. Also, a side angle wouldve been really helpful when you started cutting the top. Otherwise, this is a good tutorial.

Hey Marcella, I love my vac. It works wonders on leaving my cutting surface clean when I De-Bulk this is really the only time I use it. It also does wonders for working with children. Most kids won’t stay still if hair gets on their necks. I also enjoy not having hair all over my clothes at the end of each day. I’d say you shouldn’t knock it until you’ve tried it. Anyone who’s ever used it will never tell you it’s a bad setup. But cutting without it is no problem either. I do both and I don’t care either way. Thanks for the comment my man. Also yes I sometimes have to poop during my haircuts. It’s horrible timing but a big bowl of chipotle will go through you sometimes so fast you can’t hold it.

Sorry dass ich kein Englisch kann aber ich wollte meine Meinung auch hier schreiben. Ich komme aus Deutschland und hab so viele Friseure besucht und hab denen gebeten dass die mir flat top Schnitt machen sollen und jede beschießene Friseur hat ausrede gehabt "ja deine Haare sind dünn bei dir kann man kein flat top schneiden" ich kann das bis jetzt nicht verstehen die faule menschen die ihre arbeit nicht richtig machen wollen. Respekt an deine Arbeit hast du echt so gut hin gekriegt wie ich es auch gerne haben würde 👌👌👌👌
