- Dr. Tomasik walks through their approach to make sure all of their patients stay safe and comfortable while getting dental work done at Tomasik Family Dental
Key steps:
1) TV and headphones for distractions (blankets are nice too)
2) Nitrous (laughing gas) for relaxations
3) A great pre-shot numbing jelly
4) Getting a numbing shot without realizing it!
5) A skilled dentist to get the fillings done well as quickly as possible
Message us with any questions!
My son is getting his first filling tomorrow so good to watch
How did everything go?
@@TomasikFamilyDentalAustinim getting my own filling in two days, does injecting a needle into the gum hurt even with laughing gas?
I got my first filling in feb, it hurt so bad before the filling but during they gave me sleepy juice & gave me a 2 shots to numb it & gave me 5 minutes to relax,I raised my hand once for pain & gave me another shot, lasted abt 3 hours cuz my cavity was in my tooth nerve no soreness after, I got one yesterday & it was fast 1h & 30 mins, 5 shots because I was more scared then last time & now soreness (this tooth wasn’t causing pain but my dentist recommended to get it filled)
I'm about to go to the dentist I'm scared bc I have a cavity does it hurt bc I've never in my 10 years I've went to the dentist
@@thesiblings1937 The only part it hurts is the shot the shot pain is 3/10 so dosent hurt much, if they have a stress ball or bring your own so you focus on squeezing & they will just put a movie, it dosent hurt that much. Hope that helps!
@@thesiblings1937 how did the filling go?
@Istoleyourspaghetti it went good ye the shot hurt a bit and I took her advice and brought a stress figet the laughing gas felt a bit weird tho-

My daughter is 7 & getting her first filling I’m nervous just as she is 😢

My son has his first appointment tomorrow. Hes also 7 and im nervous. Keep reading different opinions on laughing gas and what not.
How was it
Hope everything is going well! Laughing gas is very well tolerated and can help so much for kids during the appointment. We highly recommend it for 95 % of our pediatric cases
@@Lily04057 Had to reschedule.
@@TomasikFamilyDentalAustin Thank you! We had to reschedule.

Don’t worry every one feels pain :) my mom even gets numbing lol
I have to have 10 fillings completed pver 2 visits..one on 11/29 and one on 12/4..
How did it go? We hope everything was smooth!
My 5yo has a very very small black dot on her molar, does it need a filling?
It’s possible but would be best to have a dentist check to see if it’s just stain or a cavity
When I got my milk tooth pulled out, the anaesthetic injection hurt more than the tooth pull
Does it hurt??
There should be very little discomfort (if any)
I’m getting mine done in a couple of days im soooooo scared
Not me about to get filling
I was told the only way was for them to put my kid to sleep is that true??
It totally depends on the kid and/or the amount of work done. On a young or anxious kid who is needing a lot of work done, then often putting the child completely to sleep is often the best way to go! We have seen too many adults who avoided the dentist for decades because of a traumatic experience they had as a kid. Nitrous only (laughing gas) can work well for shorter procedures and if the child is relaxed or just slightly anxious.
I came here to prepare my son for his first cavity filling and you did great!
However I'm sorry is this Greys Anatomy Dentistry? Cause my goodness you are wow, and I mean that in the most respectful way lol (not that you'll see this but 👏🏼 well done God)
Hey, you’re too kind! We hope this video helps your son! Let us know how it goes
Does it hurt and do u feel the needle
You should NOT feel any pain during a filling procedure! And many won’t feel anything at all during the numbing injection if done well.
@@TomasikFamilyDentalAustinok it’s just cus I HATeE needles and am quite scared to get my filling on the 13 of august
im getting filling in 2 weeks i got 3 small cavity 2 one tooth and one on sepreate im hoping there small that no numb but im scared for needle:(
You got this! See if they have laughing gas. It can help you not notice the shot as much.
May I ask if it’s safe to use for enlarged tonsils/OSA? And are you allowed to eat or drink beforehand?
Nitrous is very safe and typically can be used even for patients with OSA. It’s ok to eat and drink beforehand but we advise against any large heavy meals for the few hours before.
Is nitrous oxide safe? It made me feel really dizzy the last time.
It is very safe. For some, if the amount is too high, it can make you a little dizzy. The dentist can turn the level down which should take care of that
Does it hurt when they do the shot
Most of our patients don’t feel anything during the shot with nitrous!
I’m getting my filling today and I’m scared
We hope everything went well!
@@TomasikFamilyDentalAustin I’m getting one last one today and it all went well! Thank you!
I have to get fillings in a few days and I get super dizzy from the vibration 😢
Is it weird to have the breathing device thing hooked up to u ( the laughing gas ) ?
It’s a little unusual at first but our patients typically find it very easy to tolerate
Does it hurt when the needle goes in???
With a good numbing cream ahead of time, many of our patients don’t feel a thing!
@@TomasikFamilyDentalAustin Oh ok thanks for letting me know
Why fill a kids teeth Doc?????😢
If you don’t fill a tooth that has a cavity (decay) in it, the cavity will keep growing until it gets to the nerve causing pain and infection.
Denists all need to upgrade and go Laser.
We actually have 2 lasers- a hard and soft tissue laser. While our laser can do cavities, in our opinion, it’s not ideal for all situations. It can take longer and in some cases still requires numbing.
Sad. No child should have a need to this. There is really a need to educate the child and especially the parents about dental hygiene.
sometimes it’s hereditary
@@ilymal835 Yes prolly the parents have very bad habits which the child learns.
Your comment is ignorant. Kids who have any type of breathing issues (such as asthma, but there are others as well) develop cavities from the medication they have to use and/or are more susceptible to cavities because they breathe through their mouth too much.
@@ivanababic5448 asthma etc. doesn’t prevent dental hygiene. If one has such issues one takes more care of dental hygiene. Simplest thing is using xylitol products in addition to brushing teeth.
Um, did we not notice that this was the child of THE DENTIST?? I'm sure he has been given a pretty good education on dental hygiene haha. (BTW is anyone else totally in love with this guy?? Good job, Daddy)
whats laughing gas
It’s nitrous oxide
