When i discoverd Band Maid it was like falling into Ali Baba's cave of treasures. Wow this is my new fav song, no this is, no this is, wait oh my god look at that will you? Never ending song after song never a disappointment. and then every new release I hold my breathe there is no way they can keep this up but they always do. Unbelievable
"Take Me Higher" and "Turn Me On" are two of my favorites from these amazing ladies! Here is a link to "Turn Me On". th-cam.com/video/4q5rHaYrKr8/w-d-xo.html Enjoy and would look forward to your analysis.
This is the best analysis of the song I've seen anyone do. All of classic rock re-incarnated in this one song. My nickname for the song is "What the Rolling Stones would have sounded like if they'd been better." The pure Band-Maid sound, all there even in 2017. Re. improv: Actually, there are versions of this which have come and gone from YT in which they do improv in various ways. One of them has an all-out duel between MiSA and Kanami that you would enjoy.
This is such a great Rock'n'Roll! and the tone of Kanami's guitar! Brilliant. I just can't understand why the production deleted the other live version, which includes guitar and bass duel along with the finest "Play" intro.
Take Me Higher is definitely one of their more tragically underappreciated songs. They take it up a notch in the Studio Coast show, with a killer back n forth section between Misa and Kanami. You and everyone out there who haven't seen it shod check it out. Also, if you liked that, I'm 100% sure you will Turn Me On from the Studio Coast show as well. It's another song of theirs whose kickassness makes it's tragic obscurity truly baffling. Trust me, you will totally Dig It! Thanks again for another great reaction! Life is just Better with BAND-MAID! 🤘🤩🤘
Totally worth the five bucks for prime just to hear this song. I never heard a bass played like that. Not in the middle of a hard rock song where it shouldn't fit but absolutely does. MISA is incredible.
❤ Not bad for just 3 years together as a band! That opening riff. And Akane’s work to start it off. It’s as if “straightforward and simple” offends her. Kanami channels her inner Slash with her wah work, too. And being so early on, MISA hasn’t even chosen a pick yet, but she’s already slapping inside a rock song. What a great song, performance and of course, proper intelligent analysis 👍🏽
The 70's sound from this song is the reason so many people fell in love with rock and roll, especially people my age. The thing about "Take Me Higher" is that it does what it espouses, it takes me higher. This is rapidly becoming one the songs from Band-Maid I want to hear every damned day. I hope that on their tours of the U.S. and/or Europe they play this song either at the beginning of the concert or after Miku's Omajanai Time. It will get people moving.
Just yet another banger by BM ,They give 1st class rock n roll every single time, its insane how they do it ,at this point they are at the hight of their powers,so god only knows whats coming on the new album, great reaction RC.
This song is so emotional which takes me to the time I listened to Grand Funk Railroad as the first introduction of rock music other than The Beatles, over 50 years ago. What a miracle band!
One of my favorite Band-Maid songs. And one of the few times you'll see MISA playing finger-style without a pick! Of course she's great at that too. Thanks for another great reaction and breakdown.
This performance is from the 2017 concert for the pre-release of Just Bring It, their first full LP with mostly band written songs. Due to technical problems only 7 songs got released as a special DVD. Those 7 performances all had a little extra zip to them. There is another similar song, Turn Me On, that would have been at home in the 60's. Might still be floating around on the net.
First time listening to this. I definitely heard the Black Sabbath influence on this song - even before you mentioned it. I’ve always loved Blank Sabbath and those parts really struck me. Excellent reaction! BAND-MAID forever! Love these gals!
Thanks so much for bringing these older tracks from their catalogue. Keep it up man. I've seen all these concerts, but it is so good to see your reactions to individual songs. Comparing golf clubs to guitar strings. Who would have thunk that could be possible. I love it man.
I love the way their songs from this period just overflow with musical ideas. Each one is like a mini album. It feels like Kanami is getting ideas faster than she can write them down so they wind up running together. All the bits fit together perfectly of course. My jaw winds up on the floor every time.
Thanks, always appreciate your style of playthrough, then section analysis. I always get something new even though I've heard this song a hundred times. Kanami is pretty fond of using composed backing layers on occasion. She uses it sparingly, though, just enough to provide extra flavor, like the orchestral strings at the end of TMH.
Great song and reaction. Kanami is a powerhouse guitarist and songwriter. Interesting that this is before Misa learned her pick tucking magic trick! She played the whole song without a pick. Rock on 🤘
To me, this is classic Band-Maid! Pure rock & roll at it's finest! Yes it's live - January 9, 2017 at Akasaka BLITZ, Tokyo, Japan. The concert was the premiere for the Just Bring It album. A lot of the concert (including "Take Me Higher") was released on the Daydreaming/Choose me single limited edition DVD which I own.
Blitz is my sentimental favorite of their pro-shot concert videos, even though it's abridged from the full concert. I can just FEEL their excitement that their first full album is dropping the next day. It really bookends the vibe of the 10th Anniversary concert, where they've achieved another milestone and are looking back at their journey to get there. ETA: great reminders about the subtle effects of up- vs. down-strumming, etc.
Those pickups on MISA's G&L are the size of Acme bricks! Ol' Leo wasn't kiddin' around when he made them. And that's a Bad Horsie wah. I sure like the way you break down the songs.
They play this song at several live shows, brother. During their Japan tour last year they played it in Kanazawa and Nagano at least. Maybe more. This is one of my favourites as well, and I want to see more for sure! Also, I wonder why not many reactors pick up this song?
WOW THIS IS CLASSIC ROCK ..FROM BANDMAID THE BEST BAND ON THE PLANET ..NEXT TO THE WARNING

Not comparing Kanami an Clapton, but I'm hearing a little bit of Cream in those Guitar licks especially the outro.

In the beginning, Miku is saying something in Japanese that means
“Come on, give me more! Po!!❤”
to adorably hype up the audience.

An awesome song, and an absolute banger of a performance. And right in Saiki's sweet spot where she can really get nasty
Of course Pigeon saying “Get you lazy bum UP & Bring it on😊, but in a Very CUTE WAY🤷🏻♀️.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤟🤟🤟👍👍👍👍👍enjoy your Reaction

Kanami always nails her guitar tone. Live, recording, whatever.
One of my favourite Band-Maid songs. I love everything about it.

Before 2019 I did not think I needed another band to fill my life until I discovered *BAND-MAID* 🤗
I wish they would play this more. Was hoping they would play this at the spin off

❤❤❤❤❤🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 Akane !!!💗

Cool, thanks!
Such a gem of a song, "Take me higher!!" Also, congrats on 2k Subs.
This is such an awesome song in so many ways. Love it! Thanks for the analysis and reaction!
Great reaction. Band were smokin and Kanami was just out of this world
Great song and reaction. Kanami is a powerhouse guitarist and songwriter. Interesting that this is before Misa learned her pick tucking magic trick! She played the whole song without a pick. Rock on 🤘
Very nice breakdown, you did a very good job
Band-Maid rules!

Damn right, kawaii Davey.👍

Thanks so much for your nice sharing!
The rock soul is expressed in a straightforward manner!
Just another awesome video of the Maids, very talented and beautiful young ladies 🤘
Looks more excited than usual, synchronizing with the sound, so much fun to go along. Thanks!

I have always thought Kanami is the best guitarist alive today. Followed closely my Miayko
Definitely a BM classic but unfortunately don’t seem to play it anymore

I think the term that you were looking for re Kanami's depending scratchy sounds is Pick Scrape?
Which part? LOL! She did so many interesting things in this song. I found myself looking for words all thru this!
THIS IS ROCK!
