uncanny when I last gave a ride to my dad and drove him to the hospital cause he got sick this played in the radio while we're on our way 🥺 that's the last time I ever spent with him alive just after a few days he passed... he taught me how to drive ... 😞 I miss everytime that we're together on long trips, traffic, and eating out I miss every second of it, I really miss you dad I'm sorry I couldn't give back for everything that you've done for me ... I'm sorry and I love you ... 💔
I lost my dad last January. On my way home after he passed, my wife and I stopped at a roadside diner. Diners were alway a favorite of his. A little boy playing with the jukebox turned on my dad’s favorite song, Operator by Jim Croce. In that moment I found peace. Your dad knows that he was loved. Just watch and listen and you’ll find peace.
Same here. His influence on me went beyond the handsome face, gorgeous voice, and the soulful songs. 45+ years later, Yusuf/Cat Stevens is still a delight to listen to! Ma sha Allāh.
This song makes me think of a man I fell in love with in high school. I was from the US and he was from Greece. He came to see me before going to college. My mother told me his father would not approve of me and he would meet others in college...and I broke it off. One of my greatest regrets ever.
Eddie can get those deep low notes and the emotive highs . Good to see great live jams again - life is short- we must celebrate each day - let music bring us together . Start that Peace Train again ! ❤
today we buried my father. at the funeral we played Moonshadow which was a song my father would always sing to me at bedtime as a child, but Father and Son is far and away my favourite song.
As are his politics ... straight out of Medieval times when women were whipped until they lost consciousness, then revived so they could be whipped some more. If you're lucky, a female relative will suffer something similar and you can put on some Cat Stevens tunes and sing along.
I used to think of this song when I was raising my son. I knew enough to know he saw things differently from me. He died when he was 35. I'm glad we had what we did. He deserved it.
Cats (yusuf) my was my moms favorite from my conception (womb). She constantly played him till my birth. She bought me my first acoustic guitar and cats tab book.. Could almost follow Yusuf out of the gate. Still love the man 45 Years after first hearing him. God, Allah bless.
I love TH-cam and the minds who enable me to See, Hear and Feel the Energy and Magic of the musicians and performers of the world. Today is 12/04/2022. I am 64 yrs. of age. Cat Stevens, as I remember his name, has carried me through life. I thank all who have made this recording possible.
This song has always brought tears to my eyes, my Dad died one month before I was born. I look forward to meeting him when I die. Cat Stevens/Yusuf thank you for all the memories past and future.
I picture my Dad before he passed on, telling me in paraphrased words the lyrics of this beautiful song about how life works. it brings tears of happiness knowing he is in a better place. This is a very powerful and moving song.
Took a along time to realize that my dad was in a better place and that he would be happy and at peace I was selfish and wanted him here for me I didn’t want to let go and I have a card and a letter that he wrote to me when I had my second daughter and I treasure them and I always read them when I did his help but I do know that he is at peace
Cat Stevens was the fav singer from my father, I love his voice too. I love that performance with Eddie, that song helps me today, than my father is dued for 2 month, and today it is his heavently Birthday
how I wish I could have seen these 2 perform together in person. Love how Eddie who is a musical king himself, always gives so much respect to anyone he performs with and their songs.
My dad breathed his last on 10th Dec 2011. My siblings and I prayed and hoped, gathered around helplessly looking at him lying unconscious in his bed at the hospital. All efforts to revive him failed. We miss him
I've watched other video of Yusuf singing Wild World with Chris Cornell (RIP). In both videos, the joy of Yusuf to share his music with those musicians. For me, two generations that marked me, Yusuf when I was a kid, my father used to play lots of songs of Yusuf, and then as teen Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Audioslave where part of those years. Amazing.
Yesterday was a milestone for 2 of my daughters and I. OldestDaughter signed her employment contract as Lunchroom manager at her school. I celebrated my 30 year work anniversary as a Lunch Lady for the same school system. YoungestDaughter got hired as a Lunch Lady, with her sister is her manager. I gave them each a little Gumby(TM) as a reminder to be flexible. We got to talking about being adults, and with the passing of time, the passing of loved ones.
What a wonderful combination of the generations .......so so beautiful .......just truly time enhancing ........thank you Sir Yusuf and Master Vedder ......just so heart touching the expression and words ........... if we humans would ... listen .........thank you my wonderful musicians ........ I'm 78 ... and just can't turn off "u-tube' all afternoon ........ so grateful, so bringing back our youth ...
You will still be tomorrow and your dreams may not, vow….that’s very good to give to the young generation about what life should be…..be happy and content, everything will be fine, good luck to all and thanks to Cat Stevens
You are not the only one just seeing this. Or hearing anything about this. Damn EDDIE is a great dude. I have seen him on stage with THE WHO a few times. Showing the younger fans how really great the music is from the 60s and 70s . The greatest music ever
I love the way this song was set up. The way the two of them changed roles in the song makes it seem like instead of the one father to son dynamic of the original, this makes it like the son is now the father passing on the knowledge that was given to him by his own father. Simply wonderful.
It really feels like it’s so intended too. When Eddie comes with the father’s part it’s like “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it’s not time to make a change…!” And at the looks they exchange to each other! There’s even a perfect angle where Yusuf’s the son and Eddie’s looking over his shoulder, playing the dad! :)
This is a such a beautiful song, on my running playlist because of the feelings it evokes, and when Eddie Vedder comes in, “from the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen” - everything Eddie Vedder covers is smooth - wow!
Eddie Vetter has always shown great respect for Cat Stephens and his music, even doing covers of his songs in concert. While their voices don't synch all that well their spiritually does.
This song always makes me cry bittersweet tears. My dad was a phenomenal mentor. He taught us kids well, but he was an unmedicated bipolar. He died May 2017. Sometimes I still cry for him passing and being gone, but then I think about all the bad times so I can be strong again. I am 58 and confused. I don't know what to feel. 😞
My love to everyone out there! Listen we've got to keep the faith! I don't know about everybody else, but here in North Jersey the sun hasn't come out in a long time. I feel like it's a reflection of everybody feeling sort of depressed. We are going to get through everything we're going through, as long as we keep the faith! Going to get better! Hang in there everybody!
This is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. . .A blast from the past but even better with the addition of Eddie Vedder. I've been a fan of Cat Stevens since I was 15 years old - but Eddie brings it all together and it makes me smile. Two greats in one video!
You're crying!! This song gets me every time. Probably why I don't listen to it too much.makes me think of my relationship with my gather, and also what I'm trying to teach my son.
I’ve always loved this song, but it’s become closer to my heart after my oldest brother passed a couple years ago…this song captures his and our dads relationship without any doubt ❤
I like the camera angles where I see the immense of the stage. Imagine being just one little person walking out onto that huge stage. No problem say Yusuf and Eddie. Eddie throws on his sunglasses and strolls out. So great.
This a very beautiful song for me when I was 19 there came a time when I realized that I had to leave home. And this song helped me through that transition. Thank you, Yusaf you sang at the right place and the right time. Pax vobiscum
I grew up watching Cat in the 70's. Pearl Jam have been my favourite band since they released Ten. I've seen them in concert multiple times and Eddie in one-man shows too....But what an honour to stand on stage with Cat and sing his most iconic song......I can't even imagine how inner-security guard Eddie was feeling about this.....

I’m sorry for your loss.
Your dad hears you. I dont know how, but that level of pain and emotion between father and son is a tie that binds across time and space.
♥️
Dad knows......

I have been admirer of Cat/Yusuf going back to 1970. He and Gordon Lightfoot are/were gifts from the heavens. Such beautiful music, such sweet souls.
This song makes me think of a man I fell in love with in high school. I was from the US and he was from Greece. He came to see me before going to college. My mother told me his father would not approve of me and he would meet others in college...and I broke it off. One of my greatest regrets ever.
Such a profound song. Once the rebellious son I now have two sons of my own and I understand both roles that this song describes so well.
You're not alone.
Amen 🙏
Omfg...wow im on headphones at 2am, with a few whiskys flowing through my veins, tears in my eyes from the beauty of the song.
Never been able to listen to this song without tears.
That’s because the words are so true. Then when you get older you realize just how great and right your father was. At least I did.
I agree, one minute you are the son, next you are a dad,and then altogether..
Same!
I have 4 boys and think of them listening to this when they have kids. My tears are from wondering if I will be listening with them.
Same...😢
Eddie can get those deep low notes and the emotive highs . Good to see great live jams again - life is short- we must celebrate each day - let music bring us together . Start that Peace Train again ! ❤

One of my favourite Cat Stevens' song.
I really love this duet of two great singers and musicians !
What a great fantastic song :)

Those are facts
I was there when Cat Stevens first appeared. To see him again . Is an absolute blessing. Thank you Yusuf /Cat Stevens

the first time i heard this, i broke down in tears. Being sensitive has been a blessing for all of my 74 years🥰
Their voices and the emotion they put into this song 🎵 is beautiful.
Beautiful. Their voices blended perfectly. But a fist pump to the guitarist with the hat … that solo was outstanding.

i'd like to join HIS party. Oops did I say that out loud oh dear.
so good to see and hear Cat Stevens happy, well, and in good voice.

I think it's amazing how many people/bands that Ed has sang with who were his idols when he was young.

he gives them so much respect, great to see. I can only dream of going to a concert and seeing Eddie walk out to sing a song with them .
2 great human beings blending their voice on a beautiful song thank you and peace be with us all!

I was a teen in the 1970’s and Cat Steven’s was literally music to my soul.

Every time I hear this song I cry my eyes out. Lost my eldest son when he was just 22 years old. We always listened to all types of music together.

My Two loveys. My two wonderful friends at night when it’s quiet. Years apart but hearts are not. I’m so happy to find this on Utube
I lost my daddy almost 3 years ago.,My only son just had a son 4.5 months ago. This is so beautiful!!!!
Are you seriously telling me I just discovered this tonight!!? Wtf. So happy to hear this

Eddie’s voice and vibe go good with everyone. ❤
Thank you for your love and support. How long have you been listening to my songs?
That song reflecs perfectly the relationship with my dad. Love you daddy
This beautiful rendition made me miss my Old Man. Eddie knocked his solo out of the park and Yusuf has stayed true to his art. Loved it.
Thank You …Eddie Veder for recognizing and joining CAT !!!!!!!!! So love this !
The man may of became Yusuf……but his music will always be Cat Stevens ! Gosh, so love his music !!!!!

Disagree. Theirs voices are not supposed to synch. It’s the voices of the old, wise carefully juxtaposed with the young angry man.
It's Vedder
