My analysis is this. They are going to be a lot better this year on offense. The defense is going to be really good almost great. This is not the year they gel and they end up with a bunch of stupid mistakes and penalties. This years draft picks will need a year. It's next year this team will become a true contender in the AFC east. With this schedule the chances of having a winning season are pretty low this year.

While I agree that we had trouble with the likes of Lamar. The Bills games were winnable because of Josh Allen playing hero ball. Our offense wouldn't function properly to buy time for the defense to catch its breath and would eventually get exhausted. Patriots also haven't improved the team much in terms of playmaking talent, which is a major need, and certainly when compared to other teams (especially in the AFC) they continue to lag behind talent-wise. With a tough schedule in 2023, I'd guess a similar 8-9 record and no playoffs is a likely result.

That wasn't the case in 2020. That schedule was also the hardest in the league for us, with around the same number of good QBs on the schedule, and the defense still managed to finish in the top 10 (7th to be precise), despite having a offense that managed to be worse than 2022.

Kayshon boutte and Demarco Douglas are the important pieces. One of those 2 steps up and the receiver unit is actually decent.
