You should keep the analog down when you are on base so if the pitcher tríes to make a pickoff your player will go to the base as soon as the pitcher turns. And if you want to steal you just push the analog up as soon as the pitcher starts his movement to the plate.
Hey Bobby I play road to the show and I recommend you try aiming down and away while your batting. I went 8/8 in two games doing that and got 7 stolen bases. Also just press R2 once for a great jump steal! Love the content!!!

a tip for base running and getting picked off: hold the stick to the left until you want to steal. if the pitcher throws over you will automatically dive back while holding down the stick.

if you want to avoid being picked-off, while you're on base you hold the stick on the left towards the base you're at so that as soon as he tries picking you off you go back, the only flaw in that is that if you want to steal you have to take a step farther

To change your batting stance, You go to the RTTS Main Menu and you will see "Edit Player" You either go to the very last thing or screen to edit or the 2nd to last one and you will see "Change Batting Stance" From their you can do any thing.Go Bobby!
You can edit your stance aswell as the rest of your player if you go into the team tab by pressing r1 twice whilst at the road to the show home screen (select edit player once there)

To change the stance of your player you do that in one of the tabs that you edit your players uniform and everything. I would suggest Troy tulowizki's stance for a righty. It's a lot better for your player and a nice easy smith swing.

It helps if you take a pitch once in a while. Get the pitcher out of his rhythm.Going up there swinging for the fences all the time is never a good idea. You may get a first pitch "get me over fastball", even then it may be best to take it. Get the pitchers pitch count up, may lead to a pitching change sooner than later. Taking batting practice to it's entirety actually does better your hitting skills. I wouldn't just swing once, and call it a day before starting your games.

Tip: When the count is 3-2 steal no matter what because its either going to be a walk strikout or a hit and your getting extra ground by stealing.

If you press L2 after you hit the ball you can get a zoom of where the ball is going, its easier to see if you hit homeruns that way
When you're on base hold back or left with the left stick. Your player won't dive back unless it's an actual pickoff attempt.
