The cw decoder is about as good as the keyer you mentioned Evan. And why does one have to go into the modem department to send a message? Why not blow the stuff out right away? Thanks for the video!
Love the straight key! Disappointing that the 6200 CW is terrible. Appreciate the honest review and glad I didn’t buy the radio as a cw operator. Thanks Evan!
Thanks man. Hoping to shoot the mcHF QRP Head 2 Head video today so I can finally get that thing back to you. It's an AWESOME little radio, and I see why you love them so much!
I got the Palm radio paddles, which I love! BUT want that straight KEY!! to go with. But the chances of me finding another Palm Radio anything for awhile are zero! I think I would have to pull a strong arm robbery on a fella in a the park with a set....Wait where do you live again? totally unrelated just wondering lol. I think the straight key is even more rare then the paddles. They made a tiny practice oscillator that attaches directly to the back of the key, by the looks maybe it was only for the paddles? which is truely unobtainium.
Sad to see that they glossed over the keyer functionality.. I guess maybe an external keyer might be in order until/if they fix it. I like the one from HamGadgets..
Yeah, that's really the only issue I have with this radio. For an SSB or digital op who doesn't want to spend a ton of money, this would be a great radio. For CW....not so much
When I saw the straight key in the thumbnail I was 100% sure that it was because of the keyer hahahaha I had the x5105 which had this issue too. It works but it's strange, it started t piss me off so hard I just sold the radio. I heard the 6100 has the same issue, but it looks that the G90 doesn't. I don't have the G90, but I think Xiegu will never make a better radio than the G90 =]] 73!
I can almost guarantee you that the people designing these have never used CW in their lives. Now the funny thing is the FX4CR had similar issues because Yu isn't a CW guy, but Yu was smart and listened to the CW operators, and now after some firmware updates that thing is awesome on CW.
@@EvanK2EJT Well Yu is very responsive and helpful, I have FX4CR myself. I believe Xiegu has a history of doing the opposite, so I didn't get Xiegu. Besides I wanted smaller lighter without tuner or built-in battery, Yu's radio fits that perfectly.
Another interesting video, Evan. Glad to be #10!

@@walterbeaton5056 Thanks for hunting!
That Palm Radio straight key is super cool! Can't wait to see what you think about the mcHF. 73, Patrick KF4LMZ
the mcHF is an awesome little radio. Hoping to shoot that video today. We'll see.
Given they still haven’t fixed most of the issues with the x6100, I wouldn’t be buying a 6200 expecting any better.
Agreed.

It's FANTASTIC! I want one now too
@@EvanK2EJT Thanks for sharing. Cool to see them out in the wild being used.
And that, my friend, is why I sold my x6100. The only way it was even remotely enjoyable is to use it with an ultra pico keyer.
Yeah.....it's bad. Really bad. It's a shame because the radio has potential
Don’t mince words. Tell us what you really think of the 6200 keyer. 😊
🤣

Agreed. The G90 is a great radio. For a CW op, the rest of the radios aren't great.
Haven’t finished the video and maybe you address it…is it possibly defaulting to Iambic A?
Nope. I tried A and B. It's just trash. Hopefully Xiegu fixes it...........but I know how they are with firmware.
Sounds like Putikeeg Morse Trainer losing dots and dashes, I wonder if people doing this type of designs for CW actually every used CW...
