I think that when Yoel said he understands how to present an argument what he meant was that he knows how to talk, he did not understand how to do it logically, he is getting confused between thinking he is logical and therefore his argument is logical and following the rules of logic.

I think Matt got the wrong end of the stick with Yoel, and the conversation took a (possibly) avoidable wrong turn as a result. Yoel wasn't saying "we'll go with your definition of these words if you prefer". He was saying pretty much the opposite: these are the concepts I'm discussing, we can go with your labels for them if you prefer them to the ones I used. For example "non contingent" instead of "perfect".
Sorry Matt, you are right on the money most of the time, but in this call you were harsh with the caller over a shortcoming he wasn't actually exhibiting.

William doesn't know what "knowable" means. He keeps saying he understands then turns around and says it again. Knowable means ONLY things that have answers. He thinks EVERY question has a truth answer.
In other words god can NEVER say I don't know. Questions like his piano example do not have an answer. In simplest form, you are disqualified from asking questions that have no answer.
    He REALLY can't grasp "knowable".

I have yet to see at least one person to defend their god position. If i
was god i would have caused Matt to slap himself in the face each time
he slanders my name on tv.
And no one can say that is beneath god because he has done many
ridiculous things to prove his existence, if we are to believe the
    bible.
He even caused mischief and problems so he can come up with the solution
to prove himself as real, omnipotent, and mighty.
Therefore, he can very well cause Matt to slap himself in the face for
    desecrating his name, publicly.
After all, he did struck Oza, dead,
after he tried, reactively, tried to hold up the ark after if was
    falling.
Even King David was upset and afraid because of that apparent
    injustice by god.

I think that you misinterpreted. In the New International Version (NIV) 1 Timothy 6:20-21:
20 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge
21 which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith.
KJV makes it sound like knowledge or science is good, but that's incorrect in just about every other version (I haven't checked every other version, lol) and even when I first heard it, I thought it meant to turn away from science, not believe in or support it.

I’d like to point out that this idea that “the idea that god knows everything knowable and unknowable has been tossed out centuries ago” is not really accurate. I was RAISED on that idea. I was taught it in school and church my whole life. Maybe this is much rarer than I thought. But this whole “god knows all things knowable/god has all power that is possible” is something I have learned TODAY from this video. So even if what I learned is rare, that still makes the callers argument against a truly all-knowing god relevant to people today, right now. (Not that they’re the cream of the crop or anything!)

    • @runrenegade7430
      @runrenegade7430 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I was also raised on this idea (I'm 25 now) but I'm not sure the churches we grew up in really thought about that statement. It's a straight up contradiction to say that god could know things that can't be known. God can be all-knowing without that weird part thrown in. I honestly think they said it to be dramatic.

  • @bobobo2224
    @bobobo2224 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Not growing????? Jenna, where did you learn words? Not growing isn't a definition of perfect ANYWHERE!!! Perfect isn't even close. A perfect score means a not growing. Perfect English is not a non growing English.

As someone who runs around in some hippie/granola circles, it irks me when people talk about "enlightenment" via psychedelics. I totally believe that one can have an "internally" enlightening experience (in regard to one's own thoughts, emotions, habits, reactions, etc.). But the idea that one could suddenly know/understand how the universe started, god, etc. is laughable IMO.

  • @bobobo2224
    @bobobo2224 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

38:25 shows exactly why Jenna was picked to host way before she's ready. Like a theist, she has already decided where to bring the caller to set up the kill without ever listening to them. She has a constant need to ignore what caller is saying in order to ask them a question that isn't about what they say. She asks where he got this idea.
She expects a specific answer and wants to attack that. But he said HE PUT IT TOGETHER. but she keeps asking where he got it.
Like a normal person, Yoel has accumulated his ideas based on a lifetime of learning.
She wants so bad to attack his data collecting as if to tell. Him he needs to think for himself. But he already is.
That entire line of questioning shows why matt is wrapped around her finger. He lets her take his kill from him and just sits there knowing it is just side tracking. He must want her bad.

i've done pure crystal dmt multiple times (took a dab of wax and rolled it in dmt then hit it with quartz banger, held in for 20ish seconds) it's not a "spiritual" journey at all. it's everything your mind projects as reality being totally torn apart. your still totally conscious knowing where you just were/are but your mind is completely detached from everything physical about the universe. DMT is not a joke. Giving someone DMT in higher doses who have very little experience with psycodelics is inhumane and dangerous. Only seasoned users of such drugs should dabble with the stuff. weed is a bicycle, extacy is a car, LSD is a monster truck, and DMT is a full blown rocket ship with hyper speed. Hate when people just shout "you should do DMT!!" especially when someone wants them to have certain expectations. People who try and control the trip, are the ones that lose control.

You obviously didn't, and by trying to portray yourself as a mathematician you give us all a bad name by being completely incapable of following the simplest logical reasoning, sheesh

      What exactly is love?
      Not God.
Love is the bond that keeps families together
Loving an artificial god instead of a real live person is like emotional masturbation.

No thing is perfect because every thing tends towards entropy. Me thinks she was going for clarity to make that point. However, nothing has no thing. So nothing is perfect because it has potential for some thing to fill its void. science studied nothing and found bits of some things popping in and out of existance and they refered to the bits of some things as potential. Some theorize infinite as perfect however it is debated by those that consider nothing as being no thing. but they dont have anything because there is no such thing as nothing because nothing has potential. Therefore there is no end to infinite. There is just a delineation between some thing and no thing where potential becomes actualized through means of physical processes on one side and the other side, no thing has potential. In other words. Where nothing becomes something because nature abhors a vacume. Therefore infinite is perfect but infinite isnt a thing it is a conceptual definition. Heres the real facepalm moment. If every thing tends towards entropy and nothing has some thing because it has potential, then would nothing also tend towards entropy and therefore infinite isnt perfect at all? Mwahahahaha. Me thinks i just exploded the readers mind. its a fun conversation and im suffering from quarentine induced cabin fever. So, forgive me if no thing made sense. 🤣

To be an atheist, you would have to possess all knowledge and be omnipresent (i.e. everywhere at once). Otherwise, God might exist somewhere outside your knowledge and experience. To be an atheist is to live in the dark, never sure of what you base your life - and eternity! - upon.
Yet, Jesus Christ is the light of the world!

@@tinatullin879 Hi Tina. An agnostic is a person who says, "I do not know" if God exists. However, an atheist is someone who says that there is no God.
Yet, to prove there is no God, you would have to be omnipresent - everywhere at once. Otherwise, God might be in a different location than you. So, to be an atheist, you have to be omnipresent, a quality only God could possess.
I am amazed that atheists even exist. Obviously, the eye, with millions of electrical connections, could not be formed by a bit of goo floating in the ocean billions of years ago.
The main reason I believe in God is because I know Him. Jesus Christ made everything and created you for friendship with Him!

This is confusion of semantics over the word "atheist".
There are essentially two meaning of atheism. The first one is: the lack of belief in a god. They're not saying God doesn't exist. They're saying they don't know, but that currently, they don't have sufficient reason to think that God does exist. This is essentially an agnostic.
The second meaning is: those who claim that a God doesn't exist. They are making a claim, rather than just being skeptical. In this case, I would agree since they're making a claim then a great burden of proof is on them -- they'd need to be omnipresent to prove something like a god doesn't exist.
On the other side of the same coin, though, if you are a claiming god exists, you also have a great burden of proof: to prove god exists, which I think you'd like have to be omnipresent to do.
Now in my experience, probably 99% of "atheists" (at least in this community) are of the first meaning: they are just skeptical. So when your comment exposes the burden of proof on "atheists", it's largely misrepresenting the position of most atheists here and it's important to make clear it doesn't apply to the position of skepticism.

I have yet to see at least one person to defend their god position. If i was god i would have caused Matt to slap himself in the face each time he slanders my name on tv.
And no one can say that is beneath god because he has done many ridiculous things to prove his existence, if we are to believe the bible.
He even caused mischief and problems so he can come up with the solution to prove himself as real, omnipotent, and mighty.
Therefore, he can very well cause Matt to slap himself in the face for desecrating his name, publicly.
After all, he did struck Oza, dead,
after he tried, reactively, tried to hold up the ark after if was falling.
Even King David was upset and afraid because of that apparent injustice by god.
