This is the most useful review for the TK710 I could find so far. Thanks a lot!
Thank you! I’m glad it helps and hope you like and subscribe to the channel 👍
I have this beamer for 1 month now and i really love it. Great for movies (very beautiful colors = in my opinion) great for gaming Absolutely NO input lag. Contrast also very good, nice black pictures. A little bit (to much) noise level in normal and dynamic mode. I don't regret it at all.
Hey good to see you back, I didn't see you for a while.
Thanks! Glad to be back, been a busy couple months
This might be a good option to replace my classic HT2050. The TK710 or the HT2060 are what I need to decide on now.
Need more details on dynamic tone mapping and how movies are handled. How does dolby vision and hdr movies play out. Please compare the color accuracy against ht4550i and x3100i as anyone looking for this is comparing aginist those two models (long throws)
I have to replace my old Benq HT3050, but I need the exact same throw to install it in the same mount. I use it in mild light situations, would you recommend this projector or another with a budget under 2000? Thank you very much!
Does ghis projector support 24p mode for movies? And does it automatically switch between SDR and HDR depending on the netflix show?
How does this compare to the X500i? Is the loss in color/contrast worth no RBE + more brightness? I'm also considering the TH690ST to save on costs since people rave about the image quality of that projector. I *might* consider the TK860i due to it being on sale.(but would have to reconfigure my room a bit). Thoughts on any of this?
Yeah I got thoughts. Get the Dangbei DBOX02
I commented earlier about the dead pixel. It is above Issac’s head in Dead Space at the 11:34 mark. Can you tell me if this is the projector, or a recording issue?
I’ll look in to this for you. I don’t see it when I rewatch the video, but I’m getting old so maybe I can’t tell using my iPhone. Thanks for the info hope you like and subscribe!
Thanks for the review! Do you think it is the 4k version of HT2060? If possible, can you test the native contrast?
HT2060 does not have laser light source. 2060 uses LED which is great and lasts long, but laser is way better imo
This is very unlikely to have the native contrast that the HT2060 delivers. The HT3560 is kind of the lamp-based version of the 2060, and the 4550i is truly their 4K version of the 2060. The 2060 is NOT a entry level model, it's just their 1080p model. It's actually a very good projector with really good features. The price is lower overall because of the resolution, but in reality, it's one of the more expensive 1080p models on the market these days.
Im guessing the x3000i is still better? Glad to see you back and still grinding.
Depends on what you need. X3100i is the latest cube and it also has lens shift but it’s LED not laser. I think the laser is the big difference maker because it seems to have eliminated any rainbow effect. If you need good sound and the added media stick then maybe the X3100 is the better option for you
Hello,
I was hesitating between the x3100i and the W4000i/HT4550i then this one arrives.
If compared to those 2 do you believe the TK710 has better blacks?
Overall between a X3100i and this one which one has the best image quality according to you?
Thanks.
I do think the laser tends to provide better black levels than the X3000, but the HT4550i would be my pick of the 3 if I had to choose.
@@thedaingeon Super interesting thanks. OK so I remove the X3100i from my list, it’s either the TK710 or the HT4550i (but this one is much more expensive).
Do you the blacks are better on the HT4550i?
For the rest I deduct that the HT4550is is sharper / has better colours.
I currently just purchased a tk860i and then this just came out. I’m within my return window and I am slightly feeling buyers remorse here. I have a Living Room set up and deal with a fair amount of ambient light all around. Usually we watch our main shows or movies at night. Just casual viewing during the day. If you were me, would you return the 860 and purchase this instead?
I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. The 860i is great because it has the media stick and a ton of premium features. I’d say if you are going to use it a lot for a long time get the 710, but if you will only use it for 1 movie every couple weeks then stick with the 860i
I am very interested in the noise levels here 🙂 How loud is the projector at 4K60Hz in standard vs eco mode?
Acoustic Noise for standard is 31db, eco is 28db. Depending on placement and environment of course. Very quiet in my experience
Spec sheet lists 3D, but have seen those be wrong before. Any chance you can help verify? I'm still using a quite old now W1070 for gaming/movies/3d movies. I'm always iffy about pixel shifting but laser is tempting to get rid of rainbow effect but new projectors keep failing to feel like a big enough upgrade.
I show 3D under picture mode on my reviewers guide but will need to double check for you
Confirmed with BenQ this does indeed support 3D! I am going to test it out tonight :-). hope you like and sub
Pls this one or horizon ultra?
Hi! How loud is this? Did it have the 4k whine?
I'm about to buy a 3000i or a 3560, so this Really came at a good time!
Very quiet! Around 32db in Normal mode and I could not hear a whining like you mentioned in 4K 60 or 1080p 120. Please like and sub
@@thedaingeon ooooo. Thank you! Done and done!
Great video as usual! Any idea if this model uses the latest 0.65 inch DMD chip, or the old 0.47 inch ?
I’ll get you that answer soon. Thanks for liking the video!
Confirmed this projector does use the 0.65 DMD chip!
@@thedaingeon - That's really good information to have. BenQ should be shouting this from the rooftop as there have been next to no reports of dead pixel issues with the .65" DMD from what I've seen. Thanks for finding out that information!
I also had contact with Benq Benelux. Its defintely sure its the 0.66" chip. They send me an email.
My old Epson projector is dying and I'm stuck contemplating between waiting for this projector or getting a HT3560 right now. Do you think this would be worth the wait and the price increase over the HT3560? My main use is just movies. And thank you for the reviews
HT3560 would be best for just movies.
@@thedaingeon Thanks I appreciate the fast response. Would that just be down to image quality? Color/contrast etc?
Very helpful review. Can you mention what the vertical offset is? I am looking to figure out what the maximum vertical offset I can achieve with the fixed offset plus the lens shift, for a 100" screen.
10%
Is there a chance for you to review Vidda C2 Pro? Thanks!
I’ll see if I can start a partnership with Vidda but that may take some time. Please like and subscribe
Out of this and ht4550i/w4000i which is better and how? Please tell
The 4550i has a better picture, Media stick and features like horizontal and vertical lens shift. However the LED light source causes a bit more rainbow effect than expected. In conclusion I would recommend the HT4550i for Movies, casual 60hz gaming and TV, but the TK710 I’d recommend specifically for competitive 120hz Gaming and watching sports and basic TV. TK710 laser is great but just doesn’t have great color reproduction…
@@thedaingeon thanks
What are the pros and cons for TK710 over TK860?
860 is really really nice but…. It’s lamp light source and not laser. I would probably choose the 860 in most cases but the laser on the 710 is a game changer
Any particular reason why'd you'd choose the 860? I was about to buy a new projector so the timing on this is great. Thank you!
860 has more accuracy with color, better rec.709, 2 speakers, includes the HDMI media stick and has 3300 lumens, but id still go laser with tk710
@@thedaingeon thank you! Good to know!
Get the Dangbei DBOX02. PFFF
Don't mean to alarm you, but there is a dead pixel on that screen. I thought it was my projector, but I switched to a television, and it was still there. Its on the close-up of the UI interface. I had to return my TK700STI for repair last year because of this. I had multiple dead pixels. Hopefully, this is not the case with a brand new projector!
At what timestamp? I don’t see it
I see two, one above the other on a slight diagonal.
As its a pixel shifter, would a dead pixel be multiplied? I'm wondering if its a dead pixel on the digital camera?
Is laser not dangerous for eyes?
It is safe on screen, NOT safe if you look at the projector laser directly
@thedaingeon ah - I have projector screen with reflective cupboard behind the screen so won't be safe if beams bounce back to eyes.. hoping they do LED model in this size projector or smaller
Its laser category 1, which means not dangerous.
Any idea how the image compares to an Epson 5050ub?
Don’t have a 5050ub but I do have an LS12000b and I have to say it’s close in terms of brightness but the color and contrast of the LS12000b is still much better. Hope you like and subscribe!
Saying 600,000:1 contrast is the most "I just read this from their spec. sheet" statement you can possibly rattle off. A good real world contrast ratio is anything above about 1,500:1, and if this model is capable of more than that, it would be a shock. Would be great for a 1% contrast ratio measurement instead of just reading from a spec sheet.
Good to see a basic walkthrough of the menus and such, but without a single meter, this isn't really a review, but just showing off in video what is already on the spec sheet.
Totally understand your point and yes I followed the spec review sheet from BenQ in the video. I have reached out to BenQ to clarify “native” contrast for you and I will report back. I will also look in to purchasing the tool to gauge contrast in the future. Any tool you would personally recommend? Thanks for the feedback and I hope you consider liking and subscribing to the channel
