    Great video, and a new subscriber. Love the real-world comparison and narrative. Seeing side-by-side images and having the image setting info really helps and is far better than 'guy talks about stuff on a table' type videos.

    Nice review and description of the filters. I have a couple of Kase filters. I like them. After seeing these with the color coding I want to get those next. I have a CPL & ND 64 82 mm. I use them on my 14-30 lens and use a step up ring for my 24-70. On the 14mm lens at 14mm I get vignetting if I stack the CPL & ND filter but it goes away around 16mm.

      @PhilThach  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I didn’t even try shooting at 14 mm with that canon lens. It has vignetting at 14 without any filters at all. All of the bridge photos are made with 14 mm lens and 16 mm. It uses 77 mm filters. I know the Nikon one uses 82. If you decide to upgrade, make sure and use my coupon code so you will save 10%.

    I have just purchased these and loved your video. Unfortunately I can't use them on my 12-24 mm sony lens, but have the Haida inserts for that lens. But have step up adapters for my other lenses so I can use the same set of filters across them.

    Hi Phil, I am looking to get the entry kit for video, which does not come with the 10 stop filter. If required, can I stack 3 filters (3 stop + 6 stop + CPL) without issues on a 35mm lens? Thanks.

    • @PhilThach
      @PhilThach  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@watzmaaname I would think that there would be some vignetting, however in video video you’re at 16 x 9 so some of the area that would have be cropped out anyway. I can’t promise that it would work, but it seems like it probably would.

    Is that inlaid ring supposed to tighten? Mine just spins and spins and never gets tight on my RF 85 1.2 lens and the cap or filter will just pull it right out when I attach them. Think I"m gonna have to pass on the inlaid ring. Would have loved for that to work on the 85 b/c I will be shooting this lens wide open most of the time, especially outdoors and would have loved to be able to use the hood with the ND filter. **Edited** Oh wait, I can still use the filters with the screw on magnetic ring AND the hood fits too - SWEET! But still wish that inlaid ring would tighten inside the lens - oh well!

    • @PhilThach
      @PhilThach  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      yes, the inlaid ring should tighten inside the filter thread of your lens. I don't have the 85 1.2 to test it on. I'm glad you were able to get what you needed with the other ring.

    I already saw this written in the comments, but this video was deserving of another comment. The other "alleged" reviews I have seen on TH-cam on the Kase filter system are only good for use as fertilizer. Your review gives a detailed explanation of the mechanics of the system and then gives plenty of examples for the applications of the product. Great video! I ordered my Kase system today and will retire my burdensome Lee filter system immediately. I didn't use my Lee system enough because there was too much set up. Call me lazy. When I did use it, I was pleased with the results but set up was just too exhaustive. However, the ease of use of the Kase system will definitely result in much more filtered images.

    Thanks for sharing Phil. Caught my interest very much Miss your EXIF inforrmation on your fine shots like you normally show on your bird photos. Are you using AV and fixed ISO? I understand you let the camera determine shutterspeed. I am not an experienced landscape photographer, so for my understanding I would appreciate the settings. Good work as always Phil.

      @PhilThach  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A lot of times these days, I let Lightroom put the EXIF information in the top left of the screen instead of taking the time to type it in myself in the bottom of the screen. I always determine my own shutter speed and often in bird photography use automatic ISO, but in these shots in this video everything was manual. Thank you!

    Kase FINALLY came up with fully magnetic step up rings ( that don’t need to be screwed in but magnetically attach to the adaptor or Filter) the past few months… WTF took them so long!!! And none of the other filter companies could think for themselves and offer this either. A brain dead industry.

  • @C1DXM2

    Hi Phil, what camera body did you use for this filter demo? If it was an EOS R5, did you turn off the IBIS to get the blurred panning shots? For the picture of the bridge, I noticed you used 16 mm with the 15-35mm, did you to that to avoid vinetting? Also, were those images edited with lens adjustments selected?

    Thanks for a great review. I have a question regarding step up rings. If I buy the Kase ND set I will need the 112mm set and step up rings for my other lenses. My question is, can I buy a generic step up ring, or do I have to by the Kase step up ring? My thought is, if I buy a generic ring that will make my 77mm lens like a 112mm and the Kase magnetic adapter will fit on that, thus allowing the magnetic ND filters. Would that work? Without them in my hand I don't know for sure, so I am asking. Thank you in advance.

    • @PhilThach
      @PhilThach  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use a generic step up ring as long at you attach that to the proper size Kase magnetic ring for your Kase Magnetic filter. If you do decide to buy some, make sure to use the link and coupon code in the description of this video so you can save some money!

    Something you’re not showing is that it is still advised to use a lens hood. And its kind of a pain the the * to have to remove the lens hood and put it back on every time you need to remove or put a filter on.

    Nice review. Will you be doing a comparison with the Maven Filters?

    • @PhilThach
      @PhilThach  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Thank you! I may do that at some point, but I can give you the synopsis now. The thing I like better about the Maven filters is the color coding covers the entire metal part of the filter and not just a ring so you can see the color coding from any direction. What I like better about the Kase filters is the inlaid ring and the I prefer the carrying case on the Kase filters. Both systems are excellent.

    Thanks for sharing your review. I use these filters and have reviewed them last year as you know Phil. Color coding is handy, but what did you think about the vignetting with 2 filters stacked together? I didn’t get that with some other brand filters when stacking.

  • @tooki3698
    @tooki3698 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How is the vignetting at wider focal lengths? I had the original 82mm Kase Wolverine filters but I had to send them back because the vignetting was absolutely unacceptable on my 24-70. I would really be interested in seeing thorough vignetting tests, including with stacked filters.

    • @PhilThach
      @PhilThach  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tooki3698 there is some vignetting, but specially at extremely wide focal lengths. Stacking filters can also lead to vignetting. I recommend using the inlaid ring, a single filter and not using the widest mm or two of your kens. For example, if I remember correctly in this video, I shot at 16 mm with my 14-30.

  • @jaycanale4026
    @jaycanale4026 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi Phil, you have a funny timing. I received mine last week after checking out several reviews over the past months, including your review of the pretty similar Maven's. But in order to get this pro set combination from Maven shipped to Europe, it costs about 60% more than Kase. And Kase has as extra the smart inlaid ring, which I installed on my new 14-35 (traded this for my old R6 and EF1.4x, not a bad deal ;-)), while the regular magnetic adapter now lives on the 24-105. Just did a few trial shots regarding vignetting at 14mm, but after DxO lens corrections I don't see any vignetting. With this I'm well prepared for my summer holidays to Scotland.
    I was wondering whether your coupon could have provided a better deal, but the advantage is negated by the shipping costs to Europe.
    How do you compare these Kase filters versus the Maven's ?

    • @PhilThach
      @PhilThach  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That is quite a coincidence. I think both these filters and the maven’s are excellent. As I said in another comment, I like that the mavens have color on every metal part instead of just a stripe on the outside and I like that these filters have the inlaid ring. I also prefer the carrying case better with the Kase filters.
