One of the most underrated of all Ferrari prototypes, the 312PB blitzed the competition in the early 70s just before Ferrari abandoned the WSC, then the petrol crisis came in… A very special car.
I never kept track. It just kept adding up until I said, "Holy Mackerel!" Drivers, spectators and corner workers. Not saying Any where his fault but he was there. Dam good driver though. It could be why he's saying he survived. From the early 70's, you were truly blessed in you lived through it. Rindt, Schlesser, Courage, McLaren, Siffert, Rodriquez, Cevert, Koenig and on and on. Tough years.
***** I enjoyed the sound of the new F1 cars for the first few races. But as of now, I don't. F1 cars should sound agressive and these just don't have that agressive touch anymore. It's a weird sound to me I can't really place it in a certain context. There were some amazing turbocharged F1 cars in the 80s/90s but this sounds nothing like it. So I don't know, I'm not really a fan but maybe it just needs some getting used to. If I'm even willing to watch enough F1 races in the future to be able to actually get used to it :)
Ciao.
This car was entered into 10 races for the 1972 FIA Championship and it won all 10 races. The only race it wasn't entered into was 24 hour Le Mans because of durability issues for a 24 hour race.
All I can think of that sounds better is the group b audi sport quattro and the porsche 917k. And it's damn close. This isn't just a noise, it's music, a mechanical orchestra.
I watched these at Brands Hatch in 1972 and apparently they were allowed to use full revs on the first laps then eased off from 13 K rpm ! Regazzoni was up to his usual tricks and glanced a bank somewhere on the circuit.
@@aramchan2834 Your opinion. They are 2 different, but you can't deny the voracity of how that 911 sounds. Don't get me wrong. I love the sound of the 312 PB.
cornholio223 This has two connection rods per crankpin, so it isn't even a boxer engine. Subaru engines have 1 crankpin per cylinder which is what makes them boxers. This is a 180 degree Colombo V12.
There aren't many things left in life that still give me the goosebumps, but a flat-12 Ferrari engine at full chat is one of them.

"The fact that I am still alive after 100,000 laps is my championship."
- Jacky Ickx
If you investigated his career, you might find that he was involved in more accidents that resulted in the deaths of others, than any other driver.
JB91710 The only one I can think of is Bellof. And that wasn't Jacky's fault.
Who else died?

@@JB91710 he was there because he was a racer in the events where people died 😂 does not mean he killed people
Glorious sound! I've always loved the sound of tweleve cylinders. They are the best!
Some of the very best music that was ever made. Outstanding in every way. The way it was and the way it should always be.
The sound of motoristic heaven
It sounds like there was a devil and bull tied inside :)
The inspiration for the livery and rear wing of the new 499P!
You lucky bastard! This car sounds absolutely amazing!
Sure, yet everyone hates the new F1 engines... virtually the same sound.

***** listen to them back to back and you'll see
Why do these flat engines sound so GOOD!?!?!?
Simply the finest music ever made by an internal combustion engine. Wonderful posting (sorry I'm late!)
Although a Ferrari fan, I know the V12 sounds better....Heard the Matra and Ferrari in person at the time, what a music. Mazda 787 too
2:20 felt like I was watching LeMans ^_^
That sound is pure heaven

Que comentario absurdo 🤦♂️.
You're doing a fantastic job with capturing the greatest race cars

this has to be the greatest engine sound of any car ever
Mackenly Parmelee listen 250 gto ..... 😊 that's my fav car and has the best sound according to me

+Antony Collingwood Yes, the Audi Quattro Sport S1 is certainly up there. Now you need to listen to a BRM V16.
I do think this is courser than the 917
This sound !
I LOVE THIS SOUND.

The greatest automobile manufacturer in the world, Scuderia Ferrari
Ça c'est un bon v12

Awesome sound, I love older Ferraris!
Nice vid :)
What a sound!

I will move to wherever you live. Not because I'm a stalker for you, but because I'm a stalker for these cars. Seriously these things are amazing.
Magic sound😎
esattamente cosi',
il suono del 312 "boxer" Ferrari negli anni "70 era esattamente cosi'
Cool video, thanks for sharing!
Did you get a chance to make it to the Italian Grand Prix this year?
Sound magnifico :-)
In distance, it sounds almost exactly like the new F1 cars
Until its comming past in front of you
Beauty and Beast all wrapped into one !! It's probably faster than any of the sportscar racers around today. So called evolution is a good thing??
FREAKEN O'SOME
That sound when he changes into top at 2:00.

Redman and Ickx
How do you get such incredible access to these cars? Very Jealous. Another fantastic post thank you.
the start up 1:08
Bellissima!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hat to wear my headphones. neighbours thought i was watching porn
Great stuff again :-P btw do you have some sound insulation on your mic, or can it just take these loud 🔊 sounds without distortion?
Strangely, this sounds similar to a Flat-6 at full song despite having twice the cylinders.
Goodyear sticker means it's a 1973 312 PB, not a 1972 one, which would have had a Firestone sticker.
😍❤️❤️❤️
Let this babe sings!
THATS HOW EVERY FERRARI SHULD SHUND LIKE OLD CRAZY FERRARIS
OH MY FUCKING GOD THAT OVERUN
I wonder how much those 3 cars are worth? $20-30mil? More? Beautiful, rare, historic, racing pedigree?👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
2:42 Stig? LOL
the modern 911 sounds as potent
In your dreams

Se a roma avessero corso queste auto al posto della formula e ci sarebbero stati un milione di spettatori
Holy mother of god.
ickx forever
It's tha car of 1973.

Nothing like the sound of a boxer 12 'cept my cammed LS-3...lol
pure dynamite.this looks to be one of the later 312PB's
Uno dei più esaltanti e vincenti prototipi della Ferrari.
L' unica che è riuscita a battere la Porsche 917
Anche il 512m..
F1 sound
DRAGSTEERS ONLY ON STRAIGT S & FORMULA1 LEMANS STRAIGT AND TURNS
That is "LA FERRARI"!!!! not that stupid auto of 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gee I cant wait for electric cars! NOT
meh. its just a glorified subaru
Yea dude, everything about it says subaru
***** FLAT 12
Well, not really. Subaru uses boxer engines, while this is a flat V engine. Besides, I've never heard of a Subaru 12 cylinder.

SgtStinger They made 1 for F1 in the early 90s. It was terrible. Heavy, underpowered, and unreliable.
Really ugly car....
