When Maldonado took pole, the bookies across the street were giving 1000/1 that he would win the race. I was going to go put a fiver on it but I was meeting friends and was so hungover in the morning that I went "I am not getting out of bed. He isn't going to win, anyway. No chance". I am still sick about it 12 and a half years later 😆
I remember feeling the same fear when I wasn't quick enough to put a bet on Russell for a race win or very least a podium when Hamilton got covid. Luckily his race was a mess
Some people think that the Williams was actually really fast that year, and for once, the drivers (crash-prone Pastor Maldonaldo and simply slow Bruno Senna) were the bottleneck.
I mean yeah, could have been considering the qualifying performances Maldonado put in at some races. Both he and the car had some pretty good pace over one lap, it's just he wasn't exactly great in the races or in keeping it out of the wall. Bruno Senna actually went on a streak of lower points paying positions during the middle of the season, but considering the possibilities of the car, it seems he was the bottleneck.
@alexmarina_4his racecraft also suffered from this loss of experience imo, he also found himself getting into silly accidents like maldonado, just not every race thankfully
Wow that was super close, well done Tom!; if you would have used DRS everywhere you could have even beaten Lewis' time. 1:01 I actually forgot that Pastor in real life in Q2 went faster by almost 2 tenths, he was definitely feeling the pressure in Q3.

My theory is that the front right tyre is not offering the max performance possible due to the temps throughout the lap... maybe modifying the pressure and the toe/camber of just the front right might shave a few extre tenths?
Wasn’t it on williams 70th anniversary or sir franks 70th birthday or something like that, very suspicious timing for a pole and win given how that car was for the rest of the season and even before this event.
I always say this but Maldonado was capable of pulling off amazing results and was really fast on his day but would end in the barriers or into another driver like an extremely more accident prone grosjean
How We could forget THE GOAT'S Pole & Win in Spain 2012 also I hope we could see more Retro Pole Laps this year😉 If I would Recommend some Pole Laps I hope for Monza🇮🇹 2008 Also because We had Schumi Birthday I would like to see His 1st Pole lap in Monaco🇲🇨 1994 or We got Upcoming Hamilton Birthday & Why not to try Korea🇰🇷 2011 (Non Red Bull Pole in 2011)
The problem I noticed with u is that u love understeer and u understeer and u turn too late and fron doesnt grip mostly in entry of a corner when u miss the apex most. Try a earlier entry I think u will find good amount of time, other is good but u are too gently with reactions. ❤️

I feel bad for Bruno. He had potential but his uncle's death killed it. Wasted talent.

but it was banned in 2013 due to safety concerns which is a shame in my opinion

Nah tbf the car was 3rd on the grid in Singapore with Pastor and also running top 5 in a few other races (Abu Dhabi comes to mind)

I noticed mid-recording, when I use a button I have mapped to reset to pits it for some reason defaults my fuel.
I think Williams were quicker than Mercedes in 2012 and with better drivers they could have challenged for a couple wins
Definitely in for 2/3 of the season. Maybe in the inital part Mercedes were quicker.
