    Man, I can't adequately express to you just how •incredibly lucky• I felt when I spotted this fig at the nearest local Target...
    I'd already found it on eBay for just a few bucks more than what I ended up spending on it there, but still… I mean, I'm •entirely certain• that I'm not alone in the notion that •the actual hunt• is a relatively big part of the full collector's experience… right❔ Well, am I⁉️
    Anywho… xD After getting it home and outta' the box, I quickly discovered that I'd only just won •half the battle• 😮‍💨 So, thank you •SO very much• for this instructional video, man. Truly, big ups, homie.

      Thanks for stopping in to check out the review and setup! I also appreciate you sharing your figure Haul finds in the wild or retail. Congrats on finding this at Target! That's exciting, and I definitely agree about the thrill of the hunt as a collector in stores. I buy most of my stuff online at this point. But do miss those toy hunting days. I think Neca did a great job on this dog thing Creature and the box! It is tricky and takes patience to put it together. Maybe even a little silocone or crazy glue if certain tentacles keep falling off. That's what I did! Have a great New Year 👍

      Thanks for checking out! I'm glad to hear parts of my review helped you out with the figure set up! Yeah, you have to be careful and patient with some of these parts and how they go into certain parts of the body or sockets
      Using a blow dryer on low heat is a big help. I still broke the husky tail ball peg, trying to force it off. I just glued it back in place. I have no reason to leave it off. NECA makes some really cool, well detailed horror figures and creatures. But they are very delicate and you have to expect some issues. Congrats on picking this awesome figure up and the fact that you didn't break anything 👍

    • @SpregioCheeks
      @SpregioCheeks 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Same. I was nervous with the plastic, and had to search for an assembly to check if anyone else was using a blow dryer for some of them. I've had figures in the past where that technique wasn't enough and actually needed to be drilled or tapered. It worked like a charm. Really cool. I rarely buy figured due to limited space but once I saw this at Target after I literally said a week ago to my fiance that I never see the thing creature figures, just McCready, and then bam. It was in my hand. Haha.. can't wait to create the set for it on my shelf.

    • @Themanchlid
      @Themanchlid  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Travis10222 Thanks for stopping in and sharing your comments on this Dog Thing Creature set. Yeah, using a blow dryer, drilling, tapping, figure stands, putty, and gluing new figures out of box from Neca and other Toy companies is nothing new to me or even a shock. It's disappointing that we spend $30 to 60 dollars on plastic toys and products and then reinforce or make repairs right out of the box. Many collectors, including myself, ask for more complex details and articulation with newer figures or creatures from companies like Neca. They deliver. However, there are many issues that come with a toy from the factory that is made with the cheapest plastics and complicated parts that have to function and yet keep the price point down as much as possible. So it's really difficult not to have some kind of issues.
      It's unfortunate! I call it the curse of the modern-day adult toy collector. I just deal with it and make the little repairs or modifications. In the end, I put on my shelf, and it looks awesome! Or good enough for me! I'm glad you also see the same point with this figure and just do what you got to do in order to make it a little better for your collection 👍

      Thanks for checking out the review, and I'm glad you now want to pick one up! It's an honestly incredible work of art from Neca. But there's a lot of small parts and ball pegs. Use a blow dryer on low heat to remove or add things to the joints so you don't break things. That's how I snapped the peg in my hunky tail.

      Thanks for checking out the review! Yeah, that was an experiment/ custom figure i fooled around with to make it that way! It's just basically a Mcfarlane Norris Thing with a Neca left for dead mutant figure from the game. I cut the coat and chest open with a razor knife..I then used silocone and set the Norris base in the chest. I let it dry overnight. I then used skin color putty around the open area. I was gonna also put shark teeth around it. But I never got to it.

But that is something that can be made easy with a hay, Matt. The skull is creepy looking. I don't remember seeing that in the movie scene. Maybe it's a concept or cut part from the film.
      I would just build and display it according to the directions sheet or close. That's what I did. But I then changed a couple of things around like I showed in the review. Yeah, I have a feeling two of the tentacles were supposed to have larger ball pegs for the paws, and they didn't add those. I'll call it a factory issue. I've seen the climax McCready, loaded with TnT, from the end of the film in stores. The third NECA version?? Without a jacket, long johns, blasting Thing dogs. Never even knew it existed

    Excellent review! Neca makes very cool looking figures, but I'll probably pass on this as their stuff tends to be way too fragile with consistent quality control issues. On the very rare occasion I do buy a Neca figure now I tend to keep them factory sealed.

      @Themanchlid  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for checking the review out! I appreciate your comments and feedback as well! Yeah, I agree about how fragile their figures are and the QC issues with many of NECAs products. I like all their horror stuff because of what you get in the box. But if I didn't review stuff on TH-cam. I would just leave it MOC in a package like I do with many of Necas figures that I haven't reviewed. They have a better chance of not breaking that way!

      @@Themanchlid You got to have content. Keep them coming. I enjoy the reviews they really do help out on weather or not something is worth a purchase. I did buy NECA's JAWS figures of Quint and Hooper and I'm still waiting for them to release the shark. Those will probably be the last of my NECA purchases. They knocked the likenesses out of the park and it's my all time favorite movie.

    • @Themanchlid
      @Themanchlid  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @xenofett7008 Thanks again! Yeah, having a channel is all about content! I collect many Neca Horror figures. But not everything. I also don't review everything from Neca because I keep some things in card, and Neca products are complex to review. At least the way I go about a review and editing. I'm more about the Masters of the Universe lines now. But I collect and try to review a little bit of both. I don't always have content up back to back because of severe health issues with connective tissue disease and degenitive arthritis I struggle with. So im select with what I do when I can. Otherwise, I would have videos up every other day. But I appreciate your interests and support! 👍

      That would have been so awesome if all the predators came with a diorama and maybe you could have put them all side by side to make like a yautja prime layout.. or something like that

    • @Themanchlid
      @Themanchlid  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @joelamel8056 I think certain Predator figures had a background diorama. Most didn't. You can always print one from a color copier of images you want from Google. They also sell all kinds of photos and diorama backgrounds. I have a few different ones.

    Got this as a Christmas present and was really happy about it. Unfortunately, the only thing I can attach are the tentacles. Even using a blow-dryer, I couldn't get the one on the front of the dog-creature to connect. The ball-joint looked way too big, and I hate that I might have to swap them out using tweezers. I think it's really crappy for NECA to make it that way, and give you absolutely unhelpful instructions (which don't say anything about having to heat up certain parts). I wish they would've just made the Thing completely formed and sold it that way. It makes me feel bad for my mother, who spend quite a bit of money on this.

      Thanks for stopping in to check out the review and sharing your comments on this figure set now that you got one in hand. It's a really great piece to have. But it is very frustrating to set up as well as delicate! Yes, I think there is a factory issue with those two Tenacles not being able to fit the dog paws like I showed in this review. I just used them on form two of the dog. But they are supposed to fit the paws. They have larger ball joints that are incorrect there, I guess. It's one of those unfortunate QC issues with this set. But I just overlooked it and set everything else up.

      @@donkeykong6426 I'm sure it was! I know this figure didn't come out on schedule. Also there should have been a series of open eyes sculpted on the back part of the dog thing form two. You can get a good look at them when he is up on the ceiling when the other mouth opened and that venus fly trap looking tongue came out which is another iconic piece that would have been cool to see.

      Lol. It's funny how many people are making reaction videos or watching the movie now for the first time of your generation! They are shocked at how gross and realistic it looks. The movie bombed in 1982 because of how disturbing it was to many people who never saw those kinds of effects and stories before. Now it's become a classic and very popular cult following. But even to this day, the movie and now creature figures aren't for everyone! But it's cool you watched the movie and also took a look at this figure review👌

      I wasn't sure if all the tentacles would have bendy wires. Only the larger ones because they feel more rubbery. The smaller tentacles are more hard plastic, and they don't usually make those with wires because they will crack. And all rubber ones are another problem. But it is still a cool piece!
