@@marius-9333 yes I believe this. Can you pray for me because sometimes I have a bad attitude about things and sometimes they seem like silly things to people like I want to bring something too the table. I was really worried and concerned because when these monkey videos kept popping up on my TH-cam and then I started watching them and then I realized that I couldn't stand the baby macaque monkeys because they screech and holler and then their mothers have to reprimand them and I was like oh my gosh leave your mother alone I was thinking and then I was thinking to myself man I can't stand these things I hate them. I don't hate all monkeys but I just don't like the babies the ones that are acting like little brats. I was worried because am I supposed to love these things because I don't and maybe it's that I just hate the actions of them. I know this may seem funny to you but to me it's not because I'm wondering what the root of it all is. Someone said to me well it's not all that bad because you said Paula that you like the mother monkeys and some of the others young ones but you just don't like the ones that act bad so maybe that's the clue here I don't like the ones that act bad but the ones that act bad I wouldn't care if a snake came along and ate them. I accepted Jesus at 18 yrs old. But from 18-25 i lived a worldly life with jesus pushed to the back of my mind. But while i had forgot about god , God did not forget about me. At 25 my faith re-emerged by gods hand. Convictions and repentance. Im now 30 i have a more confident faith and i am sure of my god. But yet i still fall short, it is maddening. I sometimes cry and think “why do I believe & yet sin “ For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. c For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. -Romans 7:18-20 My performance will never be good enough, christ is the only way “God doesnt Elect the qualified, he qualifies the elect”
Those extreme preachers would say ur 18-25 worldly lifestyle as backslidden state , and if one leave the the world in that state, its considered not saved . But i dont believe that . I believe what u said , God qualifies us .....
Hallelujah for your perseverance my brother. I would just like to say that that Romans 7 passage is talking about someone who still doesn't fully realise the power they have in Christ. The christian life is not one of continuing to try to do good things while doing bad things, the Christian life is about getting closer to God and thus in the process defeating all sin through Him. Does that mean that we won't sin from time to time? Unfortunately we will, but our lives should not be a constant loop of sinning then repenting then wishing we did what we should've done then sinning then repenting then wishing we did what we should've done. Read Romans 8 to understand what I'm talking about. Also look the at the life of Christ and at the lives of the apostles to see that Romans 7:18-20 is not how they lived. God Bless you & I hope you get that job
Thank you Pastor John. The Lord has been giving me this message through multiple sources a lot as of late and it has helped me understand what I need to do and work on. God bless 🙏
The Bible refers to salvation as a broad, multi-dimensional thing that includes the past (e.g., Eph 2:8-9), present (e.g., 1 Cor 1:18) and future (e.g., Rom 5:9). And we can think of sanctification in different ways. Sometimes this refers to growth in moral purity. But at other times it is about a one-off setting apart for God that takes place at conversion, as in 1 Cor 6:11.
Justification is indeed a one-off event. If by sanctification we mean growth in moral purity, then it is a process. But sometimes the Bible uses the term 'sanctification' to refer to a one-off event, a setting apart for God that happens at conversion. In 1 Cor 6:11 Paul says: 'But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified . . .' Note the past tense here - 'sanctified'. In this verse Paul is thinking of a one-off kind of sanctification.
@@HearGodsWord I don't see why it would have to imply predestination. Someone could make the argument that God justifies and sanctifies without any predestination. But I agree with you that predestination is biblical anyway, although I am not a big fan of the Calvinistic understanding of this.
@@maxaplin4204 I guess someone making that argument would have to accept that someone can lose their salvation. I wouldn't say I'm a definitive 5 point Calvinist, maybe 3.5 😁 but I find a lot of good teaching from people like John Piper.
The Word of God is settled as the basis of our understanding. We must keep believing and obeying even as we are being saved. We must obey Every commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O LORD, And whom You teach out of Your law. To grant him peace from days of evil, while a pit is dug for the wicked. Psalms 94:12,13
John Piper is right that Col 1:21-23 is a warning to genuine, born-again believers. Some say that this passage is just a warning to nominal, fake Christians who are not really saved. But in this passage Paul says that his readers will be presented holy before God IF THEY CONTINUE AS THEY ARE. And Paul wouldn't say that fake Christians will be saved by continuing as they are.
Salvation is both a process and an event. Birth is the same. It begins as a conception which processes towards a developed body which then culminates to the event of a birth.
You're confusing a pregnancy with the birth. Birth is the day you come out bud. That's why you only get excited about your birthday present once a year on one day and don't celebrate 9 months long 😂😂
@@Post-Trib I would say we are saved at justification. We are saved from God's wrath against sin. Out own sin. Read this verse in the context of the whole chapter. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them. John 3:36 NIV At the moment you are justified by faith the wrath of God no longer remains on you. That is what we are ultimately saved from in order to have eternal life.
Sir, if it was both a process and event, what abt the thief on the cross whom jesus promised him paradise on the same day? Because he wouldn't have an event to go thru?
Salvation as discussed in the NT is in three tenses: past, present-continuous, future. The first is Justification, the second is Sanctification, and the third is Glorification. In the first and third are both events while the second is a process. One may depart from the sanctification process at any point and thus, the faith. This view has many many scriptures to attest to it such as the one cited at the start of this podcast. Those who hold to a "Perseverance of the Saints" view attempt to explain those who depart from the faith as never being born again anyway or what Calvin called "Evanescent Grace" - believing the message and going along but not actually being Elect by God and inevitably falling away. The problem with this doctrine is that there is no way for anyone to know whether they'll persevere or not and so is really an academic and not a practical doctrine. And, of course, there's the whole issue of "what if Piper's view is wrong?" Or, kind of a "Pascal's Wager" for Christians.
It's conditional based on yr perervanance. It is point blank in that scripture. If we fall away, give up, don't repent, renounce our faith, then yes salvation is lost. Jesus will keep u if want to be kept.
People might want to apply "Pascal's Wager" to questions like this. What if Piper is wrong? What are the losses? What if he is right and what are benefits? Alternatively, we should ask the same questions of the side which argues you can lose your salvation.
I think it's more of a sign or a proof that a person really is saved rather than a condition. It's like the scripture is telling us that a person is saved if you can see this characteristic in him/her or in you, which is a side effect of accepting Jesus because you have experienced Him.
I personally think it is for both. Lord Jesus has mentioned several times in Scripture that there is a false profession and a true profession. The false professor might at once decide to examine themselves to see if how they are continuing is true or not and be saved, whereas the backslidden or troubled Christian might recognize the need to continue on in the faith for comfort and assurance from God.
God’s salvation is a process that can certainly be lost and if you are believing the once saved always saved nonsense then you are in for a very rude awakening. “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord God. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!” Ezekiel 18:30-32 NKJV “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48 NKJV “Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14 “FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT HOLY WILL NOT SEE THE LORD” and with that particular verse being emphasized, I will now give you the definition of holy since it is obvious that very few people are grasping what being holy actually means. To be holy means to be spiritually perfect or pure, untainted by evil or sin, sinless, saintly but yet many false preachers and fake believers are relating that it is impossible for a person to stop sinning. Sinning in this lifetime is definitely a choice and I can provide one verse of scripture that will prove without a doubt that if you believe that you cannot stop sinning then you are definitely a sinful unbeliever who will suffer for all eternity. “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”” Mark 9:23 NKJV God sent His son into this fallen world to show us that it was possible to live a holy and righteous life, and by us possessing true faith and believing in Him, Jesus would then provide us with His Holy Spirit in order to guide us and teach us how to overcome our sinful natures. Now billions may claim to believe in Jesus but most lack real faith and they fail to comprehend that their words and their actions will prove whether they truly believe in Jesus or not. Realize that the majority who claim to believe in Jesus are nothing more then deceived sinners who lack faith and knowledge and they have ignored the scriptures where God commanded us to overcome and be holy, plus most have not comprehended how God will test everyone in order to see if their faith is genuine or if it is all simply talk. So just proclaiming that you believe in Jesus Christ means very little to God and it certainly does not guarantee you God’s salvation for even wicked demons will do that much. “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,” I Peter 1:6-7 NKJV “But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” James 2:18-20 NKJV “Faith without works is dead” is not saying that you must work to earn your salvation since no one can earn their salvation because it is a free gift from God, but what it is relating is that you must prove your faith by acting upon it and living it, and if you do not prove it then you do not really believe. Any person who truly desires to search God out with all of their heart by genuinely repenting and by accepting Jesus into their life need only ask and they will receive His Holy Spirit and then be saved. Now this does not make this person any wiser about God’s word and truth though nor does it guarantee them God’s salvation since they still need to be transformed and purified into a child of God. Everyone possesses a free will, so anyone can still choose to do evil and then perish if they do not allow God’s Spirit to sanctify their heart and mind. Simply look at Judas to prove as much or read Ezekiel 18:21-24 and this is why we must learn to surrender our will to God’s Holy Spirit and allow His Spirit to change our sinful heart. (See Romans 12:1-2.) God calls this purification process sanctification but yet most believers never allow it to occur since they do not understand how to discern the voice of Jesus through testing the Spirits as commanded in 1 John 4. Most do not realize that you cannot possibly live and be guided by God’s Holy Spirit unless you understand how to hear and discern the voice of Jesus Christ. “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. I John 4:1-3 NKJV “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 NKJV Now if you are truly living by the Spirit then Jesus will eventually instruct you to forsake your current way of life and this may include your wealth and your unbelieving family members as well and you can never, nor will ever be a true follower of Jesus Christ unless you have done so. Do not believe me then read Matthew 10:34-39, 16:24-25, 19:21, Mark 8:34-35, Luke 9:23-24, 12:33, 14:26-33, 17:33, 18:22, John 12:25 and Acts 2:44-45. So if you have never experienced these things in your life then you certainly are not following the guidance of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ and you are definitely someone who has been deceived by the devil and you are living a lie. Understand that faith requires action and all you need to do is read Hebrews 11 to prove as much since it reveals how people of faith overcame all of their obstacles. Realize that Abraham believed in God so much that he was willing to kill his own son in order to prove his that his faith was real, so if you are not acting upon your faith then it certainly is dead and useless and it clearly proves that you DO NOT REALLY BELIEVE. God will not remain in a sinful environment so if you resist the Spirits discipline then there is a more than likely chance that you will blaspheme the Spirit and then God’s Spirit will depart. If God’s Spirit departs then you will never get Him back and you have then lost His salvation. Why! As scripture states, you would be trying to crucify Jesus all over again and this is explained in Hebrews 6:4-8, 10:26-39, 12:3-13 and 2 Peter 2-20-22. So yes, God’s Holy Spirit will always stay with us, but for that to occur we must surrender our will to the Spirit and we must allow Him to change our sinful ways to God’s holy and righteous ways. All of this explains why anyone who falls for this ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED fallacy is a completely lost and deceived individual who is misguided in their beliefs.
Thanks so much Pastor John for your wonderful clarity! At some point would you please expand on sanctification (I didn't hear you mention this doctrine in this particular APJ) which to me is the "process" of salvation whereas justification is the initial "event". I did hear you mention repentance briefly, but an expanded discussion of the necessity for ongoing and true repentance of our daily sins in relation to salvation at some point would be great too! If you've already covered these in past APJ's, me culpa and please let me know which ones! Thank you again!!!
@K.S. O’Brien, Instead of asking John your question why wouldn’t you ask Christ himself? If you’re a fan of high temperatures then rely on man to answer spiritual things. Get your sippy cup, put milk in it, then screw the lid on nice and tight so you don’t spill it all over yourself then ask Jesus of nazarus in His name to allow you to understand sanctification. You’ll be surprised if you actually seek Christ and his kingdom first.
We can think of sanctification as a process of growing in moral purity. But there are many places in the Bible where sanctification is viewed a bit differently as a one-off event of being set apart for God, something that happens at conversion, e.g., in 1 Cor 6:11.
@@callowaydeschain1163 You seem to see asking another Christian and asking Christ the answer to a question as mutually exclusive things. But they aren't at all. It is often the right thing to ask both. The Bible makes it clear that some Christians have gifts of teaching (e.g., Eph 4:11). If there is a Christian teacher we respect, it makes sense for us to ask him questions at times. Also, your mockery is uncalled for.
@@maxaplin4204 no mockery here. Typically truth is taken from the Sensitive to be “mockery” or whatever else your feels decides to call it. Once you actually start reading your Bible you learn you don’t need man to teach you. Know why? Because Christ actually teaches you Himself, amazing concept I know. Finish this verse for me if you can - Study to show thyself approved (fill in blank)…..surely if you read your Bible you’ll be able to no problem. Or maybe ask John
@@callowaydeschain1163 Firstly, referring to a sippy cup and milk is clear mockery. I don't know why you would even deny that. It is true that the Bible contains examples of mockery that are deserved, e.g., Elijah in 1 Kings 18:27: 'At noon Elijah mocked them. He said "Shout loudly, for he's a god. Maybe he's thinking it over. Maybe he has wandered away . . ."' The original poster here didn't deserve mockery. Secondly and more importantly, you are taking a very one-sided view of things. The Bible does indeed say that Jesus is our teacher, but it also says that some Christians are teachers. It isn't either-or but both-and. So, for example, Eph 4:11 says that some Christians are shepherds and teachers. This clearly means that they should teach others. And this also clearly means that other Christians should allow themselves to be taught by these teachers. And part of this will involve asking teachers questions. Similarly, 1 Cor 12:28-29 says that there are Christian teachers, as do Acts 13:1; Heb 5:21; James 3:1. One of the main ways that Christ teaches is through human teachers, although he also often teaches us directly as well. What is especially ironic about Christians who say that there is no place for Christian teachers is that they are rejecting the clear teaching of Christ through Scripture about the useful role that human teachers play. You need to modify your views in the light of Scripture.
Get right with God friends, don't wait another day! About 500 prophecies fulfilled hundreds and thousands of years in advance prove the Bible is God's word. Believe and repent, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4!
he is talking about losing faith permanently. But how about losing faith temporarily? Like the problems we encounter in our daily life that make us temporarily lose faith. If we lose faith we lose our salvation and if we die in that state then we are not saved.
About as clear as mud. What about the messages throughout all of the 4 Gospels. Genuine belief is paired with one condition after another for salvation to be complete. What happened to the "Unforgiving Servant" (Mt.18) - the "Good and Evil Servant" (Mt.24) - the man who buried the talent the Lord gave him (Mt.25) - the branches that produce no fruit in the "Vine and the Branches" (John 15)? The "Lord, Lord" people from Mt.7 were not doers of Jesus' teachings. They did not apply His words to their lives. The hearers only, are people who He compares to building a house on the sand, while the hearers AND doers are those who built on the rock, and only those on the rock make it. What separated the goats from the sheep in Mt 25? It was their works or lack thereof, along with their faith. Why would Paul say in Romans 8:12/13, "Therefore brethren, we are debtors - not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live"? And again in Gal. 6:7/8, speaking to the brethren, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to the flesh will of the flesh reap corruption and death, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life"? The 'brethren' are born-again believers. Why would they/we need such warnings if our salvation was secure from the moment of our profession of faith? Eph.1:14 says that the Spirit in us is the down payment of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it (when we die). At being 'born-again' we are justified from all of our past sins by the sacrifice of Christ's cross, in the same but much better manner that the OT sacrifices for sin offered. Christ's sacrifice is all encompassing and continues until all is finished in heaven and earth. But our repentance must also be genuine. We cannot commit the same sin over and over and think that a "Forgive Me" is all that is needed. If that is not followed up with a doing away with that sin, then we fool ourselves. Becoming more and more 'Christ-like' is not characterized by repetitive sin nor laziness.
@@EternalLogos so you believe you have to ad to what Jesus did on the cross and his shed blood? What exactly did he die for if it wasn’t to purchase me when I place my faith in HIM and HIS sacrifice?

According to Romans 8:1 and Hebrews 10:26 there is condemnation for disobedient Christians, and many other verses prove this. Jesus tells us to strive to enter the kingdom because holiness is mandatory to be saved in the end.
@@davidchupp4460 Jesus came to die so we may be free from sin right now. We are obligated to die to self like he did. Every mention of entering the Kingdom of Heaven is a prize we must earned. The New Testament never said it was a free gift by faith. If someone rejects the trinity or other doctrines no one would consider them saved. So of course, faith, repentance, and obedience go together.
Piper is making an error here. Paul says “if indeed you continue in the faith”. It is safe to conclude that Paul is talking to people who currently have saving faith. Since Paul is talking to Christians, it is a FAIR conclusion that Paul is not talking to people who are questionably Christians or giving some abstract advice for people who might not actually be saved. Paul would literally have to be lying in order for Piper to be correct. Piper is also adding to scripture when he says a born again Christian is guaranteed salvation. This is never stated in scripture. Been born again is a requirement for salvation but no where does it state that being born again is a guarantee of salvation. Piper seems to misunderstand the this concept of salvation because he is a calvinist.
Well 1 Peter 1:23 says that we were born again of incorruptible seed, not by corruptible seed, even by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. We then understand also that whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world, I believe this is stated in 1 John 5:4, and thus we who have been born again are counted with the righteousness of Christ ourselves in him and loved of the Father, the Son, and the Spirit. John 16:27 And again this is the will of the Father that of all that the Father hath given me I should lose nothing John 6:39 We whobhave received power to become sons of God must by the very nature of God be kept forever. If God has not forsaken Israel but will save them through those who believe how can he then forsaken his own sons and daughters through Christ? His name is Faithful and True it would be against his very nature.
Hello Josue. Never stated in Scripture? Pastor Piper did indeed quote Paul from Rom. 8:30, perhaps you missed it; "...and those whom He predestined He also called; and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified." No drop-outs, correct?
@@timothyflaherty5150 I agree with everything in scripture. The difference between me and Piper is that I don’t jump to other random texts to explain something that is already very clear in Colossians…
@@DiademStudios9 Josue, thank you for taking the time to respond to me. Mr. Piper is interpreting Scripture with Scripture. This is very wise since, as you say you believe everything in Scripture, you will recall that we are told, in Scripture, that the heart (of man) is so deceitful, who could even know it? Therefore it is wise to let God, in related passages, bring out the meaning Himself. I don't see how you could say "random texts", since I have known the faithful teachings of Mr. Piper for 20 years, and he is very studiously cautious in allowing Scripture to interpret Scripture. If you would, for my benefit and yours, please point out to me in any example you choose, an instance where you think he has erred. Then, if you would, like the noble Bereans let us look into the Word together and see if it is so, deal friend?
@@DiademStudios9 I would also add Josue, Mr. Piper has made it abundantly clear through the years that where Mr. Calvin's leanings comport with Scripture he is not bashful in concurring with him, but that he does not adhere with the totality of Mr. Calvin's work. In this same sense I don't argue when I am called a "Calvinist" although I have never read any of Calvin's material, or even about him. I would not hesitate to say that since Calvin is not God, he will have some errors. Only the Bible is without error, and interpreting Scripture with Scripture is a definite must. Parallel and/or related passages is simply how this is done. Some expositors do a lousy job of this, and some do an excellent job. Each individual and example must stand or fall on it's own merit, no?
Salvation being by faith does not make salvation an event, at least not before judgement day. It is possible to believe something today, and then doubt it tomorrow. I think that the parable of the sower makes this quite clear, and especially this verse: "But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 and in time of temptation fall away." Luke 8:13 NKJV So we see here that the seed sown on the rock actually do believe for a while, but then fall away. Why do they fall away? Because they stopped believing due to temptation. There are many examples of people in the bible falling away in times of temptation due to unbelief, after having originally believed. The first example is Eve. She believed the word of God for a while until the serpent deceived her, then she stopped believing and fell away, and her husband with her. Another example is Lot's wife, who believed until she couldn't bear the temptation to turn back and face Sodom. There is a reason why this prayer exists in the Lord's prayer - "Lead us not to temptation". This is not a meaningless decorative or ceremonial prayer, but one that is quite important. Why does a Christian need to avoid or flee temptation? Simply because he could fall away if he doesn't. Even as we encourage ourselves with verses concerning the security of our salvation, let us remember that churches can be spit out if they are lukewarm, branches can be broken off if they don't continue in belief, and can be taken away from the vine and cast into the fire they don't bear fruit.
We are saved by grace through faith. I am extremely stupid and trying hard to be second runner up as chief of sinners but I don’t see event or process shoved between grace and faith..if you’re reading your Bible are you asking Christ to allow you to understand it? Maybe people in here just look at the words or something. Like I said I’m extremely stupid but people in here need to work out their salvation by fear and trembling. This is milk.
Wrong, I John 2 : 19 means to tell us about the antichrist that deny Christ. One can only deny something if one had already believed in the matter, this is what the verse means. Not corcerning any so called chosen to salvation believers. And wrong again about Rom 8 : 30, this verse is for those chosen ones for service (Eph 2 : 10), just like Paul in Col 1 : 25 kjv. Gbu still

OSAS and Calvinism are false. Initial belief justifies us but then we must be sanctified. Without sanctification there will be no glorification. The Holy Spirit can leave if someone keeps wilfully sinning.
@@HearGodsWord Someone can lose their salvation, or walk away from it by walking onto the broad path. I have about eighty videos on my channel proving OSAS is false with the word of God. There are a couple of hell testimony videos too, where people were shown Christians in hell, specifically in some instances, OSAS believers. The doctrine of OSAS is the same doctrine as the Nicolaitan doctrine which Jesus said twice that He hates. Justification alone is insufficient, there must be sanctification through the Holy Spirit.

I don't hate all monkeys but I just don't like the babies the ones that are acting like little brats. I was worried because am I supposed to love these things because I don't and maybe it's that I just hate the actions of them.
I sometimes cry and think “why do I believe & yet sin “
For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. c For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do-this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. -Romans 7:18-20

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4). Not because we are sinless, but because the Lord saved us for His kingdom
Also look the at the life of Christ and at the lives of the apostles to see that Romans 7:18-20 is not how they lived.

an excellent answer to an excellent question
Your salvation is an event. Your sanctification is a process.
I remember that verse! What was the scripture reference?
Yes!
why is salvation, in the Bible, in three grammatical tenses....past, present, future...he, who endures till the end, shall be saved....
Bro, I’ve been studying God and my relationship with him and it blows my mind I was directed here because I too live in Jonesboro Arkansas
Thank you Pastor John. The Lord has been giving me this message through multiple sources a lot as of late and it has helped me understand what I need to do and work on. God bless 🙏
I believe salvation is an event of accepting Jesus' forgiveness and grace, but sanctification is a process of a lifetime.
Corinthians 3:15
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
I love this channel.
A bit of both - Justification is a one-off event but Sanctification is a process.
Justification is indeed a one-off event.
If by sanctification we mean growth in moral purity, then it is a process.
But sometimes the Bible uses the term 'sanctification' to refer to a one-off event, a setting apart for God that happens at conversion. In 1 Cor 6:11 Paul says:
'But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified . . .'
Note the past tense here - 'sanctified'. In this verse Paul is thinking of a one-off kind of sanctification.
@@maxaplin4204 that would confirm predestination.
@@HearGodsWord I think a large majority of John Piper's teaching is very good. I have learned a lot from him.

The Word of God is settled as the basis of our understanding. We must keep believing and obeying even as we are being saved. We must obey Every commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ.

You're teaching is so juicy, pastor John..Bless you

Salvation is not a monolithic aspect of grace, it is manifold as grace is manifold. Grow in grace and in the knowledge of God and of Christ.
This was awesome!!!

That's why you only get excited about your birthday present once a year on one day and don't celebrate 9 months long 😂😂
@elunico13 I'm not confused. They call it "born again" yet it's still something that takes time to develop in order to mature into an adult believer.
@@Post-Trib OK you're all over the place. Do you agree with John Puper that justification and salvation are not the same?
@@elunico13 justification is the path that leads to salvation. Yes

How can something be a free gift if there's a process to attain it?
Sir, if it was both a process and event, what abt the thief on the cross whom jesus promised him paradise on the same day? Because he wouldn't have an event to go thru?
There is and will be a 'No Vacancy' neon sign in Heaven.. everyone who the Father gives Jesus will be there.. no question!!
Could the verses referenced in each episode be referenced in the description?
It's conditional based on yr perervanance. It is point blank in that scripture. If we fall away, give up, don't repent, renounce our faith, then yes salvation is lost. Jesus will keep u if want to be kept.
People might want to apply "Pascal's Wager" to questions like this. What if Piper is wrong? What are the losses? What if he is right and what are benefits? Alternatively, we should ask the same questions of the side which argues you can lose your salvation.
According to the Bible, for Christians salvation is something that happened in the past, is happening at present, and will happen in the future.
O
Amen!
Jesus is the root. Dont forget that. Ephesians states In Him many times for a reason
“Therefore turn and live!”
Ezekiel 18:30-32 NKJV
“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
Matthew 5:48 NKJV
“Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.”
Hebrews 12:14
“FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT HOLY WILL NOT SEE THE LORD” and with that particular verse being emphasized, I will now give you the definition of holy since it is obvious that very few people are grasping what being holy actually means.
“Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.””
Mark 9:23 NKJV
God sent His son into this fallen world to show us that it was possible to live a holy and righteous life, and by us possessing true faith and believing in Him, Jesus would then provide us with His Holy Spirit in order to guide us and teach us how to overcome our sinful natures.
“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,”
I Peter 1:6-7 NKJV
“But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?”
James 2:18-20 NKJV
“Faith without works is dead” is not saying that you must work to earn your salvation since no one can earn their salvation because it is a free gift from God, but what it is relating is that you must prove your faith by acting upon it and living it, and if you do not prove it then you do not really believe.
I John 4:1-3 NKJV
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”
John 10:27 NKJV
Now if you are truly living by the Spirit then Jesus will eventually instruct you to forsake your current way of life and this may include your wealth and your unbelieving family members as well and you can never, nor will ever be a true follower of Jesus Christ unless you have done so.
It is true that the Bible contains examples of mockery that are deserved, e.g., Elijah in 1 Kings 18:27:
'At noon Elijah mocked them. He said "Shout loudly, for he's a god. Maybe he's thinking it over. Maybe he has wandered away . . ."'
The original poster here didn't deserve mockery.
So then, are those who lack the ability to endure to the end, not children of God?
We are eternally secure the moment we believe and sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise. My perseverance is irrelevant.
Spoken like a hell bound Christian.
@@EternalLogos so you believe you have to ad to what Jesus did on the cross and his shed blood? What exactly did he die for if it wasn’t to purchase me when I place my faith in HIM and HIS sacrifice?

People tend to take Work Out your own Salvation verse out of context
It’s only an event. God keeps you saved and He requires nothing of you at all
Piper is making an error here.
John 16:27
And again this is the will of the Father that of all that the Father hath given me I should lose nothing John 6:39
We whobhave received power to become sons of God must by the very nature of God be kept forever. If God has not forsaken Israel but will save them through those who believe how can he then forsaken his own sons and daughters through Christ? His name is Faithful and True it would be against his very nature.
Hello Josue. Never stated in Scripture? Pastor Piper did indeed quote Paul from Rom. 8:30, perhaps you missed it; "...and those whom He predestined He also called; and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified."
No drop-outs, correct?
I think that the parable of the sower makes this quite clear, and especially this verse:
"But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 and in time of temptation fall away."
Luke 8:13 NKJV
So we see here that the seed sown on the rock actually do believe for a while, but then fall away.
They were not part of the body. That's why they went out
It is an event.
Wrong, I John 2 : 19 means to tell us about the antichrist that deny Christ. One can only deny something if one had already believed in the matter, this is what the verse means. Gad and Nathan were both gentiles. God used both of those men to speak to David. They were forbidden to convert to Judaism. Yet they both had the rightoysness of faith at. The same time Israel was practicing the law of moses. They were rightous apart from the law. In valuations 3 Paul says the law cannot disannul the promise God made to Abraham and his seed. Christians. Salvation has nothing to do with our efforts. It's a gift to everyone who believes. If a person knows Jesus thru the spirit. They are not going to unbeliever the truth
WE MUST BE BORN AGAIN
You are born again when you are like Jesus. Then you are sinless
1 John 2:
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
We must be born again!
Then Jesus has baptized you with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit do not let you sin anymore!!!
To become born again you have to repent and ask Jesus forgiveness for your sins or ask Jesus in your heart!
A really born again Christian has no future sins!! He is perfect, righteous and the light of the world.
Please study : 1 John 3, Romans 6:6, Romans 8, Gal 5, Eph 4 , Eph 5 and Titus 2:14
Terrible.
OSAS and Calvinism are false. Initial belief justifies us but then we must be sanctified. Without sanctification there will be no glorification. The Holy Spirit can leave if someone keeps wilfully sinning.
You can't be justified then unjustified. That means someone can lose their salvation.
@@thewhole_picture1743 if someone walks away then that shows they were never saved in thr first place.
@@HearGodsWord Nobody is saved until redemption. You've heard of the term backslidden?
@@thewhole_picture1743 that doesn't disprove my last comment, which is taken from scripture.
