This is amazing Thank you! I'm Muslim and I teach Anglo Saxon tradition and some sketches of poetry to students. The Dream of the Rood is a fascinating poem but I can't teach it because of the highly stated Christian tone... I teach Beowulf and the seafarer or the wife's Lament sometimes because there themes both pagan and religious do connect to our culture as well and they make more sense. Thank you again 🙏
@@mythosandlogos It looks very similar to the beautiful Minster in York btw., one of our favorite cathedrals in Britain! Which also has the statue of Constantine at the side of it, where he was crowned the Roman Emperor (first of Gaul, later of the whole Empire).
Super beautiful episode, and thank you SO much for the shoutout! :) Bede as the author of the Poem is indeed in Dante's Paradiso - as one of the 24 shining lights in the Sphere of the Sun. Keep up the excellent work!
@@mythosandlogos Great! "Walking" there now. Right between the St. Peters Piazza and the Tiber. Fascinating. And just 50 meters from Castel Sant'Angelo and the Angel Bridge of Bernini 😍😍!

I am so glad that you found this helpful, and love to hear that you are teaching some great works!
Looks like I set this to premiere at 12am instead of 12pm! Oops! Thanks to everyone who came to the premiere even outside normal hours :)
And btw., the The Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudula is breathtaking!
Absolutely a place I would like to see in person.

Yet another thing showing that Britain was very interconnected with the rest of Europe! And you’re so welcome!
@@mythosandlogos Very true! What was the Saxon neighborhood in Rome called btw., and are there still remants of it today?
Borgo Santo Spirito is the area; the church there was founded by a Saxon king!
