Through the lens of Christian faith, we seek to uncover the spiritual and practical dimensions behind wealth and poverty in a wonderful book called Rich and Poor by J C Ryle,
John Charles Ryle Born May 10, 1816, J C Ryle was born into a wealthy socially elite family
Studied at the prestigious Eton and Oxford where he was captain of Cricket team
In 1837 during a very bad chest infection, he found himself at a local Church and the preacher read one verse Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
It was upon hearing this verse he came under conviction and converted his life to the Lord Jesus Christ and from then on he never looked back.
He wrote more than 300 pamphlets tracts and books
Christian leaders of his time described his writings as having Short pithy (very expressive) compelling logic and penetrating insight into Spiritual power.
His successor described him as a man of Granite with a heart of a child.
Retired 1900 age of 83, he went to be with the Lord later that same year!
