One of my favorites was the 3D wall hanging of the vases and things. That and the long trailer and sedan combo in the car collection. 👍

Loving the mix of colors on the shelf's. With jelly beans be careful in narrow jars as the heat will make them stick to the bottom. And they will be harder to clean. I have a big clear jar it cost me a lot of money but I filled it. It was really beautiful! Thumbs Up

28:00 - Guys, I have to say again; you are absolutely, out of this world! Wow, even here, you have this space absolutely, stunning. Your sense of colour combination utterly, floors me, but whatever it is, it always, seems to work. This is something similar to what I would consider doing as well, though I'd never think in a million years, to combine this shade of green with this shade of orange. Indeed, it would never occur to me to mix green and orange at all, but clearly, you guys make it work extremely, well here.
Damn, kids today, could learn tons from you guys in how to do a place RIGHT! Honestly. I wish to God, I had my own, home as well, so I could start trying such things.

Hi LeAndra 👋 Thanks for watching it and writing to me❣ Yes, it is so fun to look at all our old decorations and stuff from years ago. Unfortunately, I've let go of most of all that shown. 😕 I have a habit of changing my mind ever 5 years on what I want to display and I know that I can't keep everything. I do miss them. We sold all the Lucite and chalkware fish in Norm's bathroom. They were very popular then and he had already seen them enough for a period. I went from kitty's to Barbie to purses on the shelving in the pink room.💗 I haven't moved on from the owls though. I'm just so grateful that I took photos back then so I could share it all now. 😊 I imagine you still have your collections and they are growing- - you're younger ;-) I enjoyed your Valentine's 💝 video just now too❣👌👍❤💌💘💖 So glad you are doing them!🤗 Blessings 🌟ttyl
@@Crazy4Retro I was going to ask if you still had them. I had seen things I haven't seen in recent videos. I'd miss them too. The lucite napkin holder collection is so colorful and beautiful together. I forgot to mention that before. I thought that too when watching about taking photos from past years. Now you got to share them with us!! Did you start taking down Christmas? I haven't.
@@thriftedvintagehome I forgot to mention about the Lucite napkin holders. Because they were selling well, I did sell about 2/3 of them. I didn't want that big curio cabinet anymore. My brother has that. I still kept many of the holders and I rotate them during the year according to their color/theme. I think I found that retro hutch at the antique store and wanted it so much that I had to convince Norm to let go of the big curio. My brother took many of our corner pine cabinets that we had when we moved in here in 1987. We were still a little bit country. The only real reason that I would miss many of the cute collectibles is that I would have found a way to display them for future videos. I still have other things that I haven't put out yet on our metal shelves to video and talk about (like doggie figurines and the metal earring holders shown). I'm glad that I still have some things to make videos with but I'm planning to do more show and tell with old photos ;-) Oh, also, yes, I had to start taking down Christmas because I need to do January videos. Norm just took down the tree this morning, but I've been packing all week--not done yet ;-) I needed to work on this video too for a few days in order to get something out there this week. The best yet! Everything is so immaculate. What is your cleaning routine ? Everything is perfect.
Hi Marla! Believe me, I'm not so immaculate. I wish I was better at cleaning nowadays. My excuse this year is my bad right hand finger tendonitis that I've had since spring. Too much scrubbing and editing/typing gives me a trigger finger locking problem. I don't wish to have a steroid shot though. Just trying to not scrub too much. It happened because of lots of planting in the spring--something I enjoy. We often use Swiffer Dusting Cloths or the ones you use with a wand/handle. They work great for picking up dust everywhere beyond the floor mop use. It's obviously harder to keep things clean if you have pets and/or children, which we don't. We've had many, many cats over our 50+ years of marriage but kinda gave up on them after losing another one to illness last January.

Hi Kathy! Thanks so much for watching our home tour and sending your fun message! The photos in this video were of much older décor and a lot of that I may no longer have. I've changed my mind about what I want to display and collect ever 5 years or so. In the last 5 years, I've been more interested in displaying vintage milk glass and Pyrex or Glasbake, etc. in the dining area and kitchen. So a lot of those cute kitchen collectibles, I no longer have. Lots of young gals are collecting the things that I bought years ago, like vintage Thermos bottles, etc. I'm just grateful that I took photos, because I still really enjoy looking at them and so happy now to have learned how to make videos so I can share the fun old dishes, etc. with everyone else ;-) So thanks again for watching and we look forward to hearing from you again. These were all old photos from years ago and I would have had to do all voice over with a microphone--something I haven't done yet. I know how but not comfortable yet. If I was explaining all of those collectibles it probably would have ended up twice as long. I will have lots of opportunities to do monthly narrated decor videos for January, February Valentine's, March/April Easter or spring and summer decor. I am still working on putting away Christmas things and needed to get a video out this week so I thought this would be a good time to do something with our old photos ;-) That is sweet that you enjoy narration during our videos--I really thank you for that nice compliment! I was happy to hear that you loved my little blonde desk!! I had to talk Norm into buying that years ago at a neighborhood garage sale for only $10.00!!! I loved it's potential and so glad he let me drag it home. It needed lots of TLC. A child was using it and the drawers needed lots of cleaning and painting because of ink marks. I mixed up paint to touch up the painted legs too. I really think it's a really retro fun piece and matches all of same laminate end tables. I just finished ALL your fabulous videos - an almost complete year of seasons and holidays - which took a couple months, and then this video popped up the very next second, in which we can watch how your tastes coalesced over time. Hi Maryann! Thanks so much for watching this video and sending your kind message. So glad you enjoyed seeing our older decor and collectibles. Much of it we no longer have. I seem to change my mind every 5 years or so about what I want to display and collect. I started feeling awkward about my love of kitschy cute vintage collectibles, like all the cat and dog figurines in two bedroms, and felt that I needed to be more modern with our decor, so I mostly donated them. (None of our family or friends had ever shown any interest, and still don't. I even got negative comments about "junk'.) I changed the pink bedroom shelves to vintage purses and bangle bracelets, that you hopefully have seen in my 2020 tour video. To answer your question about nails, yes, I have always used nails. I wouldn't trust 3M Command hooks. Norm has repainted rooms a couple of times at least since we've been here from 1987, but he refuses to do any more painting ;-( I have to be creative and reuse nails already there or just cover up the holes with new stuff ;-) Thanks again for being in touch and your kind support! You should know that half or more of the cute things that I had in the pink and turquoise bedrooms is long gone. I've changed my mind and tastes on what to collect and display probably every 5 years. I guess I was trying to be more modern and not so kitsch. If you've seen my current pink bedroom tour, you'll see that I moved on to vintage purses and bangle bracelets. You would enjoy two videos that Norm narrated back in July. One shows all of the shelving he put up in our laundry to store all my vintage glassware and ceramics. I so appreciate having it all so handy and organized. Then the other one he shows what heavy duty shelving he installed in our garage to create a loft for all the holiday bins. We both love to be organized. We have about 25 Christmas bins--most for out in the garage. I keep some best things (6 bins) under a bed. I hope you will look for them on our channel. I already typed this entire message and included the two links to the videos and it bombed! Don't know why it wouldn't work so I won't put the links in this message--so sorry. Hello, greetings from Italy. Im just in love with these kind of decors made in USA. I've never been in USA, but as lover of American TV series (tv series of 80s, 90s, first 2000s) i've seen how much beautiful are the houses with this style. Here in Italy nobody understand what i mean when i talk to them about this style (i wish to decor my home in this way), so for me its hard to find someone who can help me. Do you have some suggest? Maybe I need someone who can also advise me what and where to buy these furnishings?

Norm and I did buy many fun things years ago on eBay but not so much now. We were fortunate to find our retro furniture pieces locally. There's plenty of it in our State of Minnesota. We were buying it many years ago when it was still fairly inexpensive. There definitely are some pretty cool websites that sell beautiful retro furniture and lighting. This is probably one of the most popular sites: retrorenovation.com/ I believe it is new products but very much of the same original designs, materials, and possibly even original manufacturers. @@Crazy4Retro Yes, i've bought on Ebay but not vintage items. I know that US is the motherland for vintage objects, especially for vintage 50's/60's. Unfortunatelly here in Italy we don't have this culture, perhaps there is interest in ancient objects (such as 19th century objects) but not modern-vintage.

Hi K Z! I have very few things listed on eBay right now. I've just been too busy with the videos and decorating. Sorry. If you want to know our username though, it's 'ndibble'. Stands for Norm Dibble (our last name). You would have to search for us by doing an Advanced Search/members. I haven't had any action on the few things listed either so that hasn't helped motivate me. No, we still have all of our vintage ornaments, but anything shown on the kitchen shelving from back then is probably gone, like the cute Taiwan Santa teapot and cookie jar and big vintage jars of candy? Funny, but I just thrifted the cute Mrs. Santa little cookie jar that's in my kitchen Christmas tour and then I found last week a great cutie large Taiwan Santa cookie jar. They look alike. I used to have several Christmas darling teapots but gave them away too. So what am I thrifting this week??--old candy jars to fill with something and hopefully show in my January kitchen video!! I found some great ones even today! I'm out of room too and feeling very guilty about the Christmas larger items that I added this year. Even Norm added at least three bigger items. I'm not sure why I change my mind so much with the holiday collectibles. I just got too hooked on Pyrex to display in the kitchen and then later the milk glass--thought it was much classier and more coordinated looking. I miss the crazy kitsch though. The clock radios tended to be larger/heavier and maybe not as old looking. They were all fun though. So the ones that were not as colorful I probably decided not to keep either. They are in the living room, bedrooms and upper hall right now. I put out the ones I want to display for certain color schemes on the living room shelving for the seasons.

I have my older brother who is giving me his things now and a younger sister, 53, who has received many things from us, but she is single and living in a small apartment, so no where to put/store things. Norm has an older sister who has everything she cares about from her parents etc. Her grown children are not into vintage either. So hopefully we would downsize our things eventually by selling or donating again. I have never really looked at our vintage decorations as an investment. We thrifted much of it just for our enjoyment and now fortunate to share it with everyone in our videos. We are grateful if they have brought joy to others to see.😊 When one of us passes first, the other one would probably have an estate sale and move to a senior apartment. If we get too old to handle this house and yard, we'd do the same. They are just things and I don't put a lot of emphasis on their value in my mind for making a profit down the road. It would be nice, of course, if we could spend the not so far future selling more on eBay. I've been selling there for 25 years now but can't find much time since I started making the videos--a lot of work, but fun. Thanks again for your support and being in touch❣ Have a blessed January. @@Crazy4Retro I have thought about this so often. I guess the things I consider as treasures, things that remind me of my childhood, grandparents etc. Just aren't what my kids want. Oh well, things will work out one way or another. Won't stop me from getting things I like though. Lol
