Pretty sure he plays ps2 version for hardtype.
It's better to emulate if you want to play Hardtype like him, because Hardtype doesn't exist for the HD Remaster atm.
In my experience with the PS3 Version, the crashes would happen because I disconnected my controller or something like that.
And they would be minimal
