Looking for a HiAce H200 to turn into a bit of a camper. I'm not mechanical in any way and a lot of what you say is gobbledygook but I'm hearing you say I should only be looking at the 1KD models. Less to go wrong, more power and delivered better. Does this about sum it up?
Best solution for the DPF, buy a pre version, failing that if and only when they fail, gut it (knock the filter out), get it reprogrammed. Just make sure from then on the program does NOT get wiped accidentally. Been there, done that on another car which the first owner did the above, then when the stealership reuploaded the original program (battery charging problem. Technical bulletin said to update the ECU) it wanted to regenerate upon startup…massive PITA Pain In The Ass to find the cause. All made sense when the DPF was removed and inspected. The “factory trained technicians” did not have a clue. They can’t problem solve-these kids are being charged out at top rates, but are being used to change oil and use the diagnostic tool but not taught to THINK. It’s a real problem. Where are the older techs and the business supporting in house education and bring the next generation up to speed? This is why I’d much prefer a local mechanic that has experience working on a variety of vehicles to those in stealerships. My son and I got there in the end. The other issue was a metal concertina pipe for the EGR with a leak. An ultra expensive part that was only going to fail again, so Fixed with two blanking plates, reprogrammed and it’s been running ultra reliably since.
Yes yes keep pushing the 1KD to keep your business of selling injectors alive🤣. 1GD way more power and torque and won't fail on you in the middle of nowhere.
Hi Anthony, always appreciate your frank discussion- I do hope you will soon develop “solutions” helping people who own 1gd. I agree about not upgrading if you already own a 1kd, but some of us are upgrading from a petrol or buying a Prado for the first time. Given even the best 1kd is now 9 years old and 160,000 old, and people still want $45k to $55k (if not more)for the gxl, you can understand why some of us just end up buying a post 2020 150kw 1gd.
Great video ( again ) I have a 2012 1kd 480 kms runs great but there is some service history missing so looking at doing the injectors, any idea what I should be paying at a workshop as I don’t guess that this is an easy home job?, thanks.
Off topic: What tool do you use to remove big tension type clamps? For example on bigger diameter radiator hoses. I recently found out that regular pliers or knipex cobras is managable but very difficult and that takes a lot of time.
Not the same part number on the Intercoolers: 1KD: 17940-30160 1GD: 17940-11070 Wonder if they have a real difference or it's only the part number. Get the part numbers from a 2020 Prado 150 (1KD) and a 2023 Prado (1GD), both Euro 4 spec. Yes, we've got the 1KD engine in Prados until 2020.
Hi there. My 1GD in a Hiace has just clocked 400000 kms. Has had a DPF changed out under warranty and has a bit of timing chain noise. Cost to replace said chain and balanced shafts almost 7K. Brand new long engine around 9K . I will keep it running until it needs replacing with new genuine engine. Full warranty from Toyota. Its also running on PENRITE 0/30 full synthetic as recommended. FYI.

Oh, these clowns said it was the DPF sensor…$1000 later, no change. And the dealership wonders why I hate them.
1GD more power and less noise ?

Just reading these comments, Anthony do you supply injector kits and a tutorial on how to do the work ?, cheers

Do you grease the knuckles in the shafts when she's in the air?

Прекрасный результат 👍 Скажите пожалуйста какой год выпуска вашего автомобиля, меняли вы инжекторы или нет?
Hey mate. What year is your hiace?
Here in Europe we don't have the rear fuel filter
Mate. Stop raving on. Tech moves on Prados are unreal
Get into outback Aussie nt
So her saying the 1Kd is better. Lately Toyota quality and engineering is going down
I recommend you stay with the 1kd the last of the best ...from the doctor him self ... 1KD4EVER the G.O.A.T
