Something that I do like better with this version than the disney version is the relationship Mowgli had with Mother wolf and Father wolf. In the disney version he was just taken away from the pack and he acted like he didn't care than he would never see the ones he grew up with ever again. Granted I knew he was a child, but at the same time I would have been bawling my eyes out if I knew that I would never see my parents again.

One of a brief series of "Kipling Classics" animated specials produced and directed by Chuck Jones, originally telecast on February 11, 1976. Yes, the jackal bears a strong resemblance to "Wile E. Coyote".....

Ugh, I wish there were still a clearer version of this on TH-cam, but ...
R.I.P., June Foray. Your performance as Raksha (Mother Wolf) in this special was very underrated IMO, especially as seen at 6:06.

There is a partial recording of this program from when it aired on CBS back in 1979. Evidently someone who had a Magnetic Video VHS of the 1956 movie Anastasia had recorded the last few minutes of that Mowgli's Brothers broadcast onto the end of that tape, along with a few commercials and a CBS Newsbreak that aired afterward.

Okay fine I’ll ask, why doesn’t Mowgli take on the appearance of a feral child? For god sake there is a wolf boy in Russia right now who cannot be captured. People say he appears more wolf than boy. He has claws, elongated K-9s, walks on all fours and is able to withstand the elements. Then there was the dog girl of Ukraine, again, she walked on all fours and mimicked the behaviors of dogs. Mowgli has always seemed far too human for me. I would at least expect him to walk and run on all fours. Babies and toddlers as well as children mimic whatever or whoever is raising them. It just always seemed odd to me that he would walk and run on two legs. It’s been several years since I’ve read the book, was this ever explained?
