How CHiPs star Erik Estrada is using humor, family and hope during COVID-19

- I'll be the first to admit that the news can be overwhelming and what's happening in many parts of the country is terrifying. Our community has changed so fast and it's a little scary not knowing what's next.
For the past few weeks, I've been thinking of ways EastIdahoNews.com can present more positive, uplifting content during these uncertain times. Our main duty is to report the news - no matter how bad it is. But we also have an obligation to inform you of good things and hopefully entertain or enlighten you a little.
I've reached out to several people across the country who are known for their optimistic attitudes and asked them to video chat with me. Over the coming days, we'll be posting these conversations in a series I'm calling "Isolation Inspiration." They're meant to inspire you - no matter what situation you're in.
You are likely familiar with Erik Estrada. He co-starred as Frank "Ponch" Poncharello in the TV series CHiPs and has acted in dozens of movies over the years. In 1979, he was voted one of "The 10 Sexiest Bachelors in the World" by People magazine and was featured on the cover of the November issue.
Erik has a passion for law enforcement and has served as a reserve police officer for the Muncie, Indiana Police Department and the St. Anthony Police Department. He's also worked as an Internet Crimes Against Children investigator in Virginia and will soon join the Pocatello Police Department as a reserve officer.
The most important thing Erik wants people to know about him is he loves his family and, in our conversation, he became very emotional talking about his mother. She passed away two years ago and it was the hardest time in his life. But he shared with me what he learned coping with her death and how he gets through hard times.

dear ERIK Estrada if you get to read this post please first let me say how sorry I am about the loss of your mother I know the pain you are going throw beleve me I do is real hard for you I lost my little girl Sueanne who died age two weeks old my husband john took his life becouse he could not cope with sueannes death and I lost my dad to cancer 6months after my husband john died the way I cope with all my loss is I carry every one of them in side me every think I see they see every day I live on so do they in side me please find comfort in knowing your mother lives on in you and forever will god bless you 🙏🙏🙏and I thank you for all my wonderful childhood memories I have of you from a young age I have all the chips series on dvd you are a wonderful person who we love so much god bless you for all the wonderful things you are doing for every one of us bring us so much happiness in employment in watching you in tv series and films I wish you and your family members all the verry best for this new year and comeing years I hope they are full of good health and happiness for you all . lots of love hugs kisses rose and family in Stornoway isle of Lewis in Scotland uk 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖stay safe

Hello Ponch from Mon-Fri between the hours of 3pm/7pm on TV channel 29-3 i look forward to watch the re-runs of CHIPS, because i live in Canada sometimes I get distortion from the channel in between the series, and i get upset because i don't like to miss a piece of the action on the show. I don't want them to stop showing the re-runs. Since my teenage days i had a crush on you and i still do, i am your biggest fan like many others. Watching this video where you disclosed the passing of your mother 2 yrs ago (QEPD), i understand how you feel. I too lost my eldest daughter in 2018 and i know what it is like to lose someone you love. Hang in there Ponch, keep yourself and your family safe during this pandemic. (Que Dios los protege siempre con buena salud, mucho amor y prosperidad a ti y tu familia). I agree with the gentleman Erik your determination over the years to pursue your dreams is very inspiring. Not sure why he is talking like he is. There are so many people willing and able to be first responders. If he REALLY wanted to help young people, he would tell them to TRAIN early... starting in middle school.... for electric and electronics... techs and engineers. Look around. EVERYTHING needs those skills ... to get a job and keep it. Finish high school, go into the military in the electronic field and gain some easy experience imediately... then after your 3 or 4 years of actual paid work.. hit private industry. THATS a career. Not government. Nobody wants to be a Joe Biden... clinging to a government pay check for 40 years and accomplishing NOTHING.
