I have checked out Saenyra's Stream just now, talking a bit with her via chat. She's actually a very cool person to watch so the Bethesda stream did NOT do her justice. Give her a watch, she'll appreciate it! www.twitch.tv/saenyra SypherPK doesn't need any praise, hes at 10M subs :p
she was the only one there knowing what shes doing. They keep runing away from her she wasnt even able to heal, or survive when get focused. Braian is meme. Sypher was there only because he was paid. He was so rusty, with zero knowleadge about the new meta wont even mention the scribed skills, he got on track at the end but it took him some time. Dont know the other guy, didnt notice him/her at all.
worse, he dont understand combat ... Dude keep blockin on empty stam/mag bar. Didnt even know how to regain his stam/mag - with heavy attacs. Runing Mara + Hist and permablocking even if no one focusing him. 50k hp, No food, no potion usage, zero idea of the class he play, or the classes he play against. When Sypher asked him / what pull us / because of dam R. Agony bugged 40m pull/ Braian didnt even bother to answer/ because he had no idea. Then next question - about arcanist cc, Brian pretend to not hear at all. And this guy is a lead combat designer. Now i know why balance is a myth in EsO.
It looked like SypherPK was just trying to get through it. It looked like Brian Wheeler had no idea what he was doing out there. I thought the biggest problems would be the gameplay and bugs, not the fact that the combat designer looks like he's trying to figure out what the buttons do. It was even worse than I thought it would be.
imo they should have used the money they paid Sypher with to invite some of the top PvP players to a live event with a little bit more production value. I have nothing against sypher hes a cool dude but hes not invested into the game anymore. I also have nothing against Brian Wheeler but why not let the people speak that do PvP all day and actually care about PvP.
I believe this stream was absolutely necessary and a blessing. Now people have answers to their questions about why things are the way they are in ESO. Plus, this stream automatically disproves the claims of those who insist that ESO is developed by super-professionals who know better than the players, and therefore players' opinions can be disregarded.
yeah i agree, also an Esports approach might be better for the audience because watching one player the whole time gets boring, even if they are super skilled.
There are way more issues than you covered here. They most certainly reset your character. They are forever changing the meta, rendering characters almost obsolete, forcing you to farm sets and make new equipment almost every single patch. I don't pvp much, and I know way more than their 'lead pvp guy'. Not knowing what things like arc rune and rush of agony are makes me wonder how they can possibly attempt to balance. I mean, this is their head combat designer for PVP and he doesn't know a core class CC and one of the more popular PVP sets. His choice of sets for the 'demonstration' left a lot to be desired too. At least we know why we get some absolutely messed up combat changes now, which then take several iterations to get to a point we simply hate them, instead of loathing them. The new BGs are shockingly bad. We have told them they are bad, and yet, they are still pushing them, without fixing the extremely obvious issues. The BG changes were a massive downgrade on what we had previously. Will we get anything resembling the 3 team versions back. No, because ZoS doesn't like to go back on changes, even extremely bad changes. Again, they are ignoring what the community wants and doing their own thing, without input from the people WHO ACTUALLY PLAY THAT CONTENT. As for the mature audience. We are apparently so mature, they want an AI filter on all chat regardless of whether it is a private conversation. That gross invasion of privacy was far too much for me, and along with yet again more poor combat changes caused me to end my subscription after over 10 years. 10 years of hoping things will get better, only to see them do the same stuff over and over again. They have repeatedly refused to reverse bad decisions, and 'double down' on changes that were strongly disliked, causing a mass exodus on several occasions now. I appreciate you have 1.2k hours, but that is extremely small in comparison to a lot of us(I was at over 11k hours when I checked several months back) who have played for years and seen the cycle of failure repeatedly. The game 'should' be a lot more popular, but bad changes by the people who are supposed to know the game, keep snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. The worst thing they ever did was get rid of the class reps. At least they had people who could represent the players when changes were implemented. The class reps were all experts in their respected fields and provided valuable feedback to ZoS. Again, this was not always acted upon, and I suspect that was why class reps were done away with. ZoS like to think all their ideas are good ones and do not like to be told that prospective changes are not good. I am still bitter about the templar jabs change and the absolutely pathetic excuse they made for changing it. The same with the extremely stupid flurry animation we got. The other major pet peeve with ZoS, is their fondness of making an overpowered item or class for a release in order to make more sales. Then several months later they will nerf that item in to the ground when they find themselves unable to correctly balance it( I am looking at you, Thraassian Stranglers). As it stands, unless you are a 'very' casual player, who is fond of the 'press button, get loot' style of game, there are much better options out there and options due out in the next few months. Most of the content you showed was extremely trivial stuff and not really representative of a player of all aspects of the game, just one who plays at the lower end and has not experienced any of the harder content. That is fine, but recommending a game on content you can literally light attack to death does not really provide a good review of the game. The stream did really cement for me, why the combat changes are so messed up, though. Not knowing basic sets and class skills.. FFS. How are you supposed to balance for higher end content when they don't know the extreme basics?
Zos proved that not every addition to the game is permanent. The new bg's came not as an addition, but an overwrite. What a spit in the face to pvp'ers who havent seen an update in 7 years!
With how they silence the community and mitigate any criticism on the forums and in general, it doesn't surprise me that Zenimax is failing to do anything good for the game. i stopped playing shortly after covid hit and It's kinda disappointing to see the game I enjoyed just turn into crap.
I have numerous complaints for this game. I have 3500+ hours invested on this game so I know a thing or two. Firstly, the community earlier was good but now has become toxic, like for example in trials they should help people understand the mechanics. PvP is broken. Group finder and AddOn features are broken. Really don't know what sort of maintenance and updates they do which only creates new problems piling onto the old ones.
The PvP community is usually the most toxic in any MMO as far as I have experienced :D You can see it in the comment section here sometimes. Plenty of people around who forget they're talking to real people
They should stay quiet after all the messages they delete, people they mute, and bans they hand out arbitrarily. It makes me happy to see them suffering in BGs, not saying a word lol. But it's probably bc they just don't want to offend each other out of fear of the ban hammer.
Alot of us “endgamers” put over 1k hours just to be able to function properly in those roles. We really like the core mechanics/visuals of the game but yeah when the devs show that they are unwilling to listen and are also entirely incompetent at the game(looked like someone at the 100 hour mark) it is very disheartening, them not hiring skinny cheeks makes even more sense now. They do this for a paycheck and nothing more
3 people, playing in silence, on a stream, failing to "PvP" with the LEAD combat designer. Yep, Zenimax. I hope for the next stream they can find 3 people with even LESS chemistry together, i'd save it to my "Videos to fall asleep to" playlist. This whole thing was so awkward to try to sit through before I switched it off. Everyone associated are all just laughing-stock, I keep trying to find a reason to come back since U35, but the game is less and less appealing every time Zenimax puts something out. Just another MMO where fun PvP got buried instead of fixed, chasing a few bucks and keeping the PvE crowd happy so they can sell dress-up outfits for their virtual barbie-dolls.
Good analysis of the streams. I tried to watch, but lost interest. Even the drop was a recycled pet that I had already received from watching a prior stream. I PvP as minimally as possible, so I was hoping to see something that may persuade me to try it more, but I really wasn't swayed. That being said, I have seen several of these streamers from their own channels - and they are quite good. Maybe they just weren't impressed either. Thanks for the video.
I also felt that the Bethesda stream was just a watchtime farm for the pet. But I'm glad to hear that the creators are doing well with their own content. I didn't want to throw any shade onto them
Nobody asked an update for BG’s. Why are resources and time being spent on something nobody even plays? Still nobody plays! The BG queue’s are just as long if not longer now. Meanwhile, Cyrodiil is pop locked every single week between all 3 factions without a single update in years. Give us a Cyrodiil rework already. It’s time ZOS listens to the community.
Well when they announced it I thought it'd just be the start of a whole PvP rework - including Cyrodiil. I still try to stay positive about this so the PvP crowd finally gets something nice :)
@ they are adding incentives and things to earn in PvP which is great. I just view Cyrodiil as having so much more potential than it currently has. People tried asking about it when they announced the BG’s changes but in typical ZOS fashion they ignored the questions all together
@ completely fair point. But Zos has appointed who they appointed. I was relieved to see the manager for PvP combat was clueless how to play PvP. At least we know what the issue is.
I agree with your perspective on the presentation but I’d say it accurately represented the amount of understanding and effort they’ve put into PvP over the past 3-5 years. The lead combat designer plays PvP like a noob, PvP is dead in ESO, it used to be incredibly fun but between the lack of conent and the horrible dev direction it’s pretty dead. As far as the overland content is beyond ez as everything can be soloed practically afk, the Trials are fun and the dungeons and arenas are mostly fun. It’s mostly a rp game catering to casuals any more so if that’s your thing eso is for you if not your better off paying another game. I have 3k+ hours in this game evenly split between PvP and PvE the devs don’t understand their own game anymore and make so many questionable decisions , they have lost the trust of the community and rarely listen to feedback outside of the Bethesda echo chamber. Most veteran players dread updates instead of getting excited about them, this is the state of the game and it isn’t good.
The whole stream sucked. Being a part of it at all warrants an apology to their respective fan based. Also, how can the lead combat designer be so lost with pvp and basic combat mechanics? Fire him immediately ZOS
the lead combat designer does not know how to play the game, he doesn't know or understand combat mechanics, what sets to use for a specific role.. it look like if it was the first time he was playing the game. This confirms all the stupid broken sets and all the out of call changes in classes. This game is being carried by the shoulders of the first team of developers. They literally ruined battle grounds. They just needed more maps, a battle royal and develop a team tournament system to engage and bring back sweats that left.
To be honest. The stream was an absolute disaster. People are tired of ESO. it's now boring to death now. For example, the BG update should have been released in 2017-18 NOT in 2024. People have moved on to other things. IMO, the game has lost value over time, especially as it hasn't aged well, and there's a critical lack of players. the game dead state now(8k to peak at 10k players). so i'll just moved on. there is other game better than this and more enjoyable to invest into it. EDIT: good video tho
I don't necessarily agree with the game being dead. The peak players you see on SteamDB only shows the players that play via Steam for instance. Yes, the game has taken a hit lately but I don't think it's because the game isn't appealing anymore but I believe their marketing is lacking. I don't think I've seen any promotional attempts to garner casual players to the game which this game is predestined to. So TLDR: Game not dead, marketing is bad.
Sounds like that’s how you feel lmao. I have returned after a 4 year break and it’s been a blast. Sounds like you should/need to move on to a new game. PvP def has issues. And so does there development team. But do you buddy. 👋
I came to ESO from Warhammer Online, we had two team scenarios in there and it worked. warhammer online had peak pvp and ESO has taken a few pages ( guard skill) from Warhammer online but it needs to balance itself out now to achieve that level. its possible.
ESO is an embarrassing bugfest that ZOS doesnt care to fix as long as you keep shoveling money at them. You cant even pvp in cyrodiil cause the lag spikes will eat your inputs. This game is barely more than the failure fallout 76 was, and by the same people. Don't waste your money on this horrible game black desert is better
it's almost like not even the people who are actively working on the game cares about it anymore. Not like it wasn't obvious after the 6x10^23 ctrl+c/ctrl+v ""expansion"".
I’ve never been interested in ESO PvP, just doing the old 4v4v4 battlegrounds for the Midyear Mayhem tickets, but after watching the new 8v8 battlegrounds I’m even less likely to do them, it turned tactical small team gameplay (which team to attack, when to focus on defence etc) into just a mass 8v8 brawl, where pugs are annihilated by coordinated teams, and PvE builds dipping into PvP stand no chance. The stream was terrible, but the update that spawned it was even worse.
ESO has had numerous bad livestreams throughout the years, if you ask me that's the least of the game and community's problems. I've played ESO since 2016 and all I've seen through those years is ESO slowly getting suffocated by ZOS and more and more players leaving for greener pastures. I would love to see the numbers on new players compared to those who haven't logged in for months or years, I myself haven't played in more than a year at this point. ZOS leaned so hard towards casual players but it doesn't seem like they're able to keep them by the looks of things, I wouldn't say it's a dead game like you'd commonly hear people say but I think they're thinking of putting it on life support if the situation doesn't improve. I personally think it won't, interest in the game is at an all time low, numerous bad decisions and disappointing expansions and chapters with a community that is split in two. One side is overcritical and hates the game for everything it's worth and the other side refuses to see the glaring issues and downwards spiral the game is already in. I think this life cycle is just natural for most MMOs this age, look at SWTOR, LOTRO, Guild Wars 2 etc. Those games still have their dedicated fan bases who are playing and some new players coming in here and there but it's very unlikely they'll ever recover and I believe ESO is heading towards that same faith if it's not already there. Most of these games are just holding out for as long as they can until they inevitably shutdown, at least ESO has the benefit of being backed by Microsoft so that's probably still a long way off.
PvP is a lie! There is no real PvP in ESO. Edit: Devs go play a castle siege game, like mount and blade II. Then take the good stuff from the castle siege games. Frame it around "lord Fubar wants us to help shore up his defenses, so he has hired two teams to test them out. One to defend and one to attack, whoever gets the furthest on offence in 7 minutes wins." Then slap us inside a small castle map, with destructible terrain, and all the good siege stuff! When the 7 minutes is up, swap the teams roles around. So a outer gate, and inner gate, a hall gate, and the throne would be capture points. Get all 4 and you win. If the teams keep tying you make it harder to achieve the objectives. This way players who want to focus objectives can do so, and players who only want to kill will also actually contribute. Make the respawns short, but have it hurt the usability of siege and anti siege, so that it rewards tactical play.
You should try PVP! I got 20k hours in 10 years with this game & love it all but PVP is where it shines! Of course as a PvP beginner get a guild/group first in Cyrodil. ❤️🔥great video, you got my follow .
bro zenmX is dumb they had an opertunity to dominate console market and they let it slip right through theire hands. Now there are somany mmo s are coming out with better content and better developers (people who.lsiten to theire player base)
I'm just going to say it. MMO's are a dead genre. Nothing new is happening in them, it's the same thing over and over, the only thing that changes is the graphics. We didn't tune in because it was on the main channel, we tuned in for the reward.
Lots of content can become very formulaic I agree. ESO isnt any different from that. We'll see if Ashes of Creation ever releases :D Yeah, I did tune in solely for the pet as well, but thousands of non players have seen the stream.
I play two games on play station. One I have 24 hours on. ESO I've played (since October 2023) for a little over 2100 hours. I love ESO and I'll stay there for a long time. I'm not even interested in ES6 ATM. Maybe in time but I'm so so not done on ESO.
I mean, that's cool and everything. We all care to some degree about ESO or we wouldn't be watching streams or videos. But everything you said does not change the fact that this was bad. The lead combat dev doesn't understand, well, combat. That's a huge problem, and the stream was a absolute disaster.
Apparently Saeryna didn't want to put herself in the middle and she had internet issues. I visited her stream just an hour ago and she's SO different on her own stream than what was visible on Bethesdas stream
I also feel that talking about what's happening on the screen would've become awkward really, really quickly, like explicitly mentioning obvious problems. And neither of the two wanted to do that.
@@Wandering_Chemist so let me get this straight. Because you think the game is bad, the 100+ people in the active guild I play with and the 20-30 active people in my friends list should get their game taken away? Brother, u dumb
I dislike the idea of someone potentially losing their livelihood because of a bigger issue (corporate mismanagement) but when the product quality is suffering... maybe swap the combat design leader to a more fitting role for their skills and place someone with a detailed awareness for both basic and advanced gameplay, not numbers on a spreadsheet (how they admit they've been balancing things).
One guy is there because is his job (which he sucked at it) Another guy there because he is paid to be there (even though he is not invested enough to Warrent his spot) The girl is there because well.... 2 dudes so you need dei balance (she is clearly there not because she is excited but will get her some subs though). Just terrible panel from all 3.
My honest take on all of this? The stream was fine... And would have been fine had all the players not taken to every available platform and forum to explain how awful it was... To a new player, it was ALL NEW... They don't know the ins and outs and all of the mechanics or how you're supposed to do every single action in the game modes... You can't give a seasoned player's perspective as a new player's perspective... So, per usual, it wasn't the company that screwed it up, it was the spoiled and ungrateful players who consistently complain about all of the things that the game didn't do for them... This incredible world is beyond amazing and I'm so sick of hearing how the devs don't do a good enough job... I'm not paid or sponsored... Just a die-hard pvp addict... I've played for about 3-4k hours and still haven't done everything in the game due to how vast it is... New players would have been interested by the stream had all of the "content creators" not pointed out the things that ONLY AN EXPERIENCED PLAYER WOULD HAVE NOTICED... Maybe if the players would show some gratitude for this beautiful game and the daunting tasks that people had to overcome for us to even play it, the game would do better... Stop shitting on the game and just play and let the company do what they do without your input... THAT would fix a lot of the issues...
The game isn’t beautiful and it shows with the current active players. The games community is as small as it has been in 2018!!!! The game has MAJOR issues all over the place and the devs keep ignoring their player base.
I'm not really sure what you're trying to say. That for a new player everything being new is enough for it to be engaging? I cook from time to time and watching a new recipe in a video with ZERO narration or energy doesn't hype me up. I just click off the video. It doesn't matter how tasty the recipe would be. I'd rather watch somebody who can present a decent recipe in an engaging matter. Why is this fool talking about cooking now? Because it's the analogy that is similar to what I have tried to convey in the video.
I have checked out Saenyra's Stream just now, talking a bit with her via chat. She's actually a very cool person to watch so the Bethesda stream did NOT do her justice. Give her a watch, she'll appreciate it!

I was more furious about the lead Combat Designer did not know that you can get stamina back by HA.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
We know why maarselok became a thing...
I must have zoned out at that point...
This just shows why pvp has been so unbalanced for so long.
maybe he knew, but was too scared to go near sm1 to HA him 🤣 DUDE lean on hi block 24/7
Zenimax’s lead PvP combat dev does not understand PvP
or the game itself. resources aren't exclusively an issue in pvp.
worse, he dont understand combat ... Dude keep blockin on empty stam/mag bar. Didnt even know how to regain his stam/mag - with heavy attacs. @ dude needs to watch a beginner’s guide to eso lmaooo
The question about the arc CC and the striaght up ignore was painful to watch, yeah xD
I question they understand anything bat all.
The amount of copium for this game is wild.
It looked like SypherPK was just trying to get through it. It looked like Brian Wheeler had no idea what he was doing out there. For thousands of people this will be the first impression they have about the game :(
Just youtube "Sypher Reacts to "Fengrush on ESO Live" by Speez"
imo they should have used the money they paid Sypher with to invite some of the top PvP players to a live event with a little bit more production value. I have nothing against sypher hes a cool dude but hes not invested into the game anymore. I also have nothing against Brian Wheeler but why not let the people speak that do PvP all day and actually care about PvP.
And have a proper discussion!

So much this. There are some excellent pvp’ers out there and watching them play and talk is really enlightening and entertaining
You’re absolutely right. I watched Jakeclips’ stream and it was better. ESO should have shown their various “stream team” members.
Oh shoot thanks Doc 🫶
yeah i agree, also an Esports approach might be better for the audience because watching one player the whole time gets boring, even if they are super skilled.

I'm curious, this team that reworked the BGs-are you so impressed with their work that you'd want them to rework Cyrodiil with the same hands?
@ completely fair point. But Zos has appointed who they appointed. I was relieved to see the manager for PvP combat was clueless how to play PvP. At least we know what the issue is.
I want 4v4v4 back. This update has effectively removed content and gave buggy, imbalanced messes in return. As a PVPer since 2017 I'm disgusted.
yeah, it was truly a shitshow. btw, eso is down atm and the forum is down also. good times.
You on NA? Forums seem to work fine for me. Game as well (PC EU)
@@CasualLamer it came back a little while later, probably just a hiccup b/c of the event and server load. zos as usual.
Crazy idea, but what if they made matches 3 way between 3 teams of 4 to help balance games and make it more fun and casual?
I came to ESO from Warhammer Online, we had two team scenarios in there and it worked. warhammer online had peak pvp and ESO has taken a few pages ( guard skill) from Warhammer online but it needs to balance itself out now to achieve that level. its possible.
“Casual” is the very thing that hurts the game for 8 years.
Funny the dev was playing a templar trying to use jabs then changed it. Hes the one who nerfed it in the first place lmao
2 team BG can work, Warhammer Online Scenarios were like that, ESO can reach that too. it just needs work. its attainable.
Been saying it for years. DCUO (released in 2011) had 1v1 -8v8 since almost launch and it works just fine. It just has to be implemented correctly
PvP is a lie! There is no real PvP in ESO.
Edit:
Devs go play a castle siege game, like mount and blade II.
Wait until you hear about the 2021 or 2022 high isle "live stream"
Haha sorry, just been playing since December 2023 :D
They should hire hard-core players to test bugs and shit people that know how to play the game! Where are the sign ups at? Let me do it!
1:41 speaking of the new pvp update, this map right here sucks ass. I can be killed in spawn
You should try PVP! I got 20k hours in 10 years with this game & love it all but PVP is where it shines! Of course as a PvP beginner get a guild/group first in Cyrodil. ❤️🔥great video, you got my follow .
Everywhere you go you're fucking cringe.
🤡
I don't watch their promotional broadcasts nor do I PVP
Normally I don't either. But there was a watch-time reward that I wanted. So I stumpled on this by chance
bro zenmX is dumb they had an opertunity to dominate console market and they let it slip right through theire hands.
We'll see if Ashes of Creation ever releases :D
Yeah, I did tune in solely for the pet as well, but thousands of non players have seen the stream.
I watched just for the drop.
Yeah me too :/
I play two games on play station. One I have 24 hours on. ESO I've played (since October 2023) for a little over 2100 hours. I love ESO and I'll stay there for a long time. I'm not even interested in ES6 ATM. Maybe in time but I'm so so not done on ESO.
That's what Im talking about. That feeling is what I want them to convey
I mean, that's cool and everything. We all care to some degree about ESO or we wouldn't be watching streams or videos.
But everything you said does not change the fact that this was bad. The lead combat dev doesn't understand, well, combat. That's a huge problem, and the stream was a absolute disaster.
The teammates barely spoke to each other it's as if they were all playing a team based game solo lmao.
This game is old and tired
Coming close to the end of the 10 years…time to just shut it down. Game hasn’t been good since Wrothgar.
@@Wandering_Chemist hard disagree. Been getting into vet trials, been having a ton of fun.
@ sorry bud you missed out…better luck next mmo 🫡 learn to get there sooner before servers close.
@@Wandering_Chemist so let me get this straight. Because you think the game is bad, the 100+ people in the active guild I play with and the 20-30 active people in my friends list should get their game taken away? Brother, u dumb
Don't feed the troll joseph :P
@ fuck I got baited
i dont think you know what your talking about either.
*you're
I dislike the idea of someone potentially losing their livelihood because of a bigger issue (corporate mismanagement) but when the product quality is suffering... maybe swap the combat design leader to a more fitting role for their skills and place someone with a detailed awareness for both basic and advanced gameplay, not numbers on a spreadsheet (how they admit they've been balancing things).
😮
you noob!
nice video.
Uno reverse!
Thanks ♡
PVP sucks
One guy is there because is his job (which he sucked at it)
Another guy there because he is paid to be there (even though he is not invested enough to Warrent his spot)
The girl is there because well.... 2 dudes so you need dei balance (she is clearly there not because she is excited but will get her some subs though).
Just terrible panel from all 3.
Or the Saenyra was part because she's a full PvP streamer. Just a thought :)
That's the issue ain't it? New players wouldn't have known so why should eso pvp designers? Ignorance is bliss
Stay a new player bud
The game isn’t beautiful and it shows with the current active players. The games community is as small as it has been in 2018!!!! The game has MAJOR issues all over the place and the devs keep ignoring their player base.
Garbage take lol
My brother in Christ, the lead combat dev didn’t know that you can heavy attack for stamina. That is like eso 101.
