Oh my, I do hate anything to do with drywall, but the fact that it will stop the heat escaping is a very good reason to deal with that nasty, dust making stuff. Lol, while I currently live in east Texas (to take care of an elderly parent), I’m now in Kentucky to visit my son for Christmas, and my home here still lacks half of the drywall in the basement ceiling because I become a vile, very unchristian-like person when dealing with the stuff. Many prayers . I do appreciate the extra large drywall lift. That’s well worth the money paid. Y’all have a wonderful, warm Christmas.
Drywall is pretty miserable but worth it in the end, we should have got a quote from a professional but even a good bid was out of our budget so buying a lift will have to do, and it made the ceiling so easy. maybe next house we will install 12 foot sheets😜 Merry Christmas to you as well.
Great job on the drywall. I Really like the chamfer tool. I noticed that you didn’t use a vapor barrier in the ceiling. Did you have another plan to keep the separation of the conditioned interior of the house from creating moisture in the attic space? On a side note, we made it back to Western Wa to finish up the rehab on my foot. We should be back in the area in April. Wishing your family a Merry Christmas. Aaron & Karen
Great question, from all the research we did, vapor barrier is not needed in this climate. the biggest issue is air infiltration. we are using a vapor barrier paint and sealing all the air gaps in the walls and ceiling. glad to hear that you will be back in the spring. Merry Christmas to you both as well
Maybe consider using thin strips of wood instead of the tape measure. Cut to 34" length. When you can't see it, then you are done. Maybe just put a 6" strip at the 34" mark. I'm sure you figured it out.
wood strips cut to the right length or even a small block attached with the bottom marking the right level would work. either way be sure to wear a mask and goggles. have a healthy new year. btw, ms. amy sure attacks that ladder, she certainly is not scared of working. i wish i had a wife like her................g
A vapor barrier is not necessary in our climate. preventing air movement through the walls and ceiling is a must, so we will use good quality paint as well as seal all areas where air could move through our exterior walls and ceilings. Thanks for watching and Merry Christmas.
@@1KGoffgridhomestead good luck keeping the insulation out of the mud when you load the joints to bed the tape. Some of those joints looked quite wide.
@@user-ei3ml8jo1s that would be bad to get insulation mixed with joint compound, however, we are a bit behind on our videos and have already taped the ceiling in one of the wings without any issues the but joints are purposefully wide to fill with hot mud and those aren't an issue because they are under a truss.
I may need to make a raised one above the pantry but I can use the truss web in the other areas if I need to get around up there. because the insulation is so deep I couldn't just lay a board down. hopefully I don't need to go up there very often.

That's a good idea, marking with spray paint seemed to work great.

Amy is the Best! She has come a long way conquering her fear of heights.
You seem to have forgotten the vapor barrier (and air barrier).

Should have taped and mudded the ceiling joints before blowing insulation.
Normally that would be the best but we were trying to just get the attic insulated. Now we will tape and mud.

Merry Christmas to you too!
Makes me itchy just watching.
We are glad all the insulation is done.
Did you put a walkway down the center of the attic for future access ? 😮

It's a shame that you're going to lose that beautiful textured pink motif you have going on in the walls now. It makes the whole house look warmer :)
🤣 it looked so pink and cozy. but the cats would probably tear it up if we left it uncovered.
