I saw her many times, in San Francisco, as Tosca, the Kaiserin, Sieglinde and others. She was marvelously intense onstage, and gave unstintingly of her voice and her dramatic abilities. The only artist who was as generous as Rysanek, in my experience, was Gwyneth Jones. I saw Jones as the Siegfried Brünnhilde when she was ill with the flu, and so powerful and fullthroated was her performance that, if it had not been announced prior to the curtain going up, you'd never have known she was sick. I also saw Jones as Tosca, Fidelio, Elektra and the Dyer's Wife. Two great ladies of the stage.
Could anyone have the great kindness to provide with a translation of this in english (or french) for the poor ones who do not understand enough german to get what is said in this document ?? I would be happy to release some new and unique private video documents in turn to anyone who could contribute ... even just a text in word format would be fantastic (adding subtitles is a hard job ... I know that ...) Thank you so much in advance ....
