Even in her prime, Joan Sutherland may have had a less than ideal middle register but when the voice soars up the scale, under pressure and where most sopranos struggle, she is absolutely phenomenal - no other soprano, possibly in all history, can compete!

Non of the comments have made mention of the real hero of this recording - Richard Bonynge. Never have I heard Gonunod's score sound so magnificent, without question the best conducted "Faust" on record!

Ghiaurov est supérieur ici, et de loin, aux deux autres. Un trio inoubliable. La musique est sublime!!!
