Rachel Carson, and David Suzuki are two of my favourite humans. I wish more folks listened to them. Unfortunately, profit still comes before everything else in this capitalistic world. Thank you Dr. Suzuki.
I grew up in the US out in the country. We had a large satillite dish with a rotor and I accidently landed on the CBC satillite feed. Where I discovered David Sukuki. He always makes you think even if you don't agree with him. A very wise man.
Two of Canada s best and greatest men in media, on 1 show. Ty both for your contributions over the years, and your community work as well. Happy birthday, Monsieur David Suzuki. ✨️🍁🏆🏆
David you are fighting a Goliath. Every time I feel low about the environmental movement, I listen to you and get charged again. You keep my heart alive and beating as a human being to do something about this all important and necessary shift.
I find that people who have a problem with Suzuki are always going on about how many plane rides he's taking, pretending like they have no impact on the environment themselves. Yet I never see people challenge his core values, probably because they also understand that environmental protection is critical, but are too comfortable in the current state of things to make a change. Suzuki has never said that he has no carbon footprint, but as Canada's premiere environmental figure, he has spent his lifetime in researching and disseminating a very consistent and important message. He deserves to be recognized for that.
In 1971, I created a democratic communal society with no personal cars. My coworker said he liked the idea of a democratic cooperative state, but he was not giving up his car. This is what the oil companies know. No one is giving up their cars. Therefore, climatic change is ignored.
I remember reading an article about David Suzuki in Reader's Digest a few years ago. In that article David Suzuki stated that he and his colleagues were laughing at all the things they thought to be true 50 years ago. Doesn't it make sense then that some day we will all be laughing at what he thinks to be true now?
I admired the man for years until I learned he was a good salesman . My livelihood is the environment for nearly 5 decades in the resource sectors....the threat I see is cities ever expanding consuming more and more without a conscious connection to their affects on the environment ... Now before man..... climate has always changed and it will continue to do so with man or without man..the person below my comments.... speaks volumes ..I believe David will come straight one day..or until the CBC goes under
our 80 years with this skin! Wow, I'm going to become an environmentalist too. Congratulations to this great representative of science, he should have been president in place of that sold president.
I remember reading in a Readers Digest article how David Suzuki stated how he and his colleagues laughed at all the things they thought to be true 50 years ago. Guess what David? In 50 years we will all be laughing at what you think to be true now! I'm already laughing. Science always disproves itself every 50 years or so.
I like how he exposes the motivation behind the ad hominen attacks on him - shoot the messenger and deflect. A common strategy is to find some hypocricy in the messenger - anything you can by applying the purity bar. Does Suzuki use a toaster? Or did he bicycle to New York? and then say well obviously you shouldn't listen to his message. That allows you to not address the validity of his message. (try asking these people if they have ever drunk clean water, gone skiing, paddled along a river, enjoyed wild seafood or gone camping) I have never yet seen any of his haters marshal an argument or fact as to how or why his message is wrong. His evaluations and prognoses are pretty much standard now in the scientific community - not a single scientific organisation now denies the primary human role in climate change nor do they deny the impact is catastrophic.
Deganawidah Ayenwatha hypocrisy is distracting. His message is so relevant but when the messenger lacks humility and relies on ego the message is lost on many people. When he vilified CEOs for example he loses people with money who are powerful to make change. Bringing them along without making them the enemy would actually be effective. Making them the enemy will never be effective in the long run.
Complete phony. Lives in a $10 million house in Kitsilano and owns a waterfront home on Quadra Island. The only "green" this character is interested in is money. Go away.
He's the biggest Carbon consumer I know. Flies around the world in his private jet charging five-figure speaking fees and telling others to reduce their Carbon consumption. David Suzuki is not well liked outside of the CBC.
+FiftyTwoPercent Well, as you said "consumption" twice I don't think you're really understanding the issue. The production of CO2 through the combustion of fossil fuels is that issue - if he was consuming it he'd be the ultimate spokesperson for reducing carbon. Also 5 figure speaking fees are not outlandish - especially for someone with his calibre of reputation, however I also know that he also does free speaking appearances. I'd like to point out that this has nothing to do with carbon emissions. Lastly, he addressed your point in the interview - people point to him and essentially say "hypocrite"! I don't think that these things negate the impact of the work that he's done. People have made him a symbol of the environmental movement, but that doesn't change who he is, only our perception of him. Now if we found out that he owned majority shares in Exxon and BP then I think that would be hypocritical.
David Suzuki is a very nasty guy when he's not in front of the camera doing propaganda on behalf of the CBC fairquestions.typepad.com/rethink_campaigns/my-unexpected-encounter-with-david-suzuki-1.html
Gee I wonder if a tree fell on your head when you went camping. Oh aren't I clever and so funny lol lolo so lolly lol lol Never mind, a child's skull is soft, so you should heal well, just give it time. Oh, almost forgot... lol lol lolly lol lol
It's so disgraceful to see how this guys real motivation is money. He talks a big game but in reality his a very rich man paid for by the Canadian people. Not once have I heard this guy talk about the plight of Canadian Aboriginal people. The poverty and suicides that happen on these desolate reserves. All while he chooses what mansion to say in. SO SHAMEFUL!!!!
Tried their best? Talk is cheap! For everything else, there is CBC. People debate up and down on methods of electrical production, but have no problem turning on their television or plugging in their computer. David Suzuki is no exception, jetting between sets and his MULTIPLE mansions. He's all for cutting down on lifestyle, as long as it doesn't include him. Did you ever see him in a smart car? Nope. SUV's. How I will remember him? Hypocritical. No hero to me.
OK. Cherry picking. You have to take whatever data that is consistent with the scenario at hand. If for example, we were all using solar/wind energy and we were not burning any fossil fuels at all anywhere on the planet, if we were not mining for resources or chopping down trees, if we were disassembling cities into smaller self sustaining communities, then we would be following the best case scenario and the data taken would be for best case scenarios. It's not cherry picking. It's taking relevant data. However, we are not following the best case scenario. Nations are still at war with each other. There is no world peace and thus no global effort to combat global warming. Nations are on the verge of undoing any action they have taken thus far. Fossil fuels have dropped in price making them more appealing as an energy source and since everyone is already using fossil fuels it makes it much more convenient to keep using them. Feedback loops are already in effect with hundreds of thousands of methane plumes worldwide (if not millions). Energy companies have hundreds of thousands of unused wells still leaking methane into the atmosphere. We are not following the best case scenario. We are following the worst case scenario. So we have to use the data that reflects what happens in the worst case scenario. Does that not make sense?
I've always been shocked about the profound hatred Suzuki has towards the human race. Comparing humans to fireflies! Always complaining that there is too much human beings on the planet destroying the environment. Yet he has 5 children. When you look carefully at the lifestyle of those financing and promoting the global warming propaganda ( Al Gore, the British Royals, Suzuki to name a few) it seems like what they are preaching does not apply to them.
No. No. And no. Most trusted Canadian?? What??? No no no no. This man somehow latched on to the 70's love and freedom and all enveloping ........... I can't find my words right now but i do not like or respect this man. Claims to have low self esteem yet has written how many autobiographies? Just yuk. There is something not quite right going on there. Cannot put my finger on it but........ I trust my instinct.
Happy Birthday David Suzuki. A true Canadian (and global) hero who makes me proud to be Canadian. So grateful for his courage and determination.
Rachel Carson, and David Suzuki are two of my favourite humans. I wish more folks listened to them. Unfortunately, profit still comes before everything else in this capitalistic world. Thank you Dr. Suzuki.
Such a modest human David is,he only spent 8 million on one of his houses, had no idea they made that much money off of government funded CBC.
I grew up in the US out in the country. We had a large satillite dish with a rotor and I accidently landed on the CBC satillite feed. Where I discovered David Sukuki. He always makes you think even if you don't agree with him. A very wise man.

I think David is Wonderful ~ Always have and always will
David you are fighting a Goliath. Every time I feel low about the environmental movement, I listen to you and get charged again. You keep my heart alive and beating as a human being to do something about this all important and necessary shift.

Suzuki is a A National Disgrace.
Suzuki is a disgracefull human being, look into it.

He deserves to be recognized for that.
Suzuki is a A National Disgrace.
His core values are one set of values for "big wheels" like him and another set for what he calls "maggots".
So many paid trolls. Dr. David Suzuki is wonderful in every way!
In 1971, I created a democratic communal society with no personal cars. My coworker said he liked the idea of a democratic cooperative state, but he was not giving up his car. This is what the oil companies know. No one is giving up their cars. Therefore, climatic change is ignored.
Don't worry he is going to blow up pipelines now. So environmentally friendly.
“The next stage after this, there are going to be pipelines blown up if our leaders don’t pay attention to what’s going on,”

I love his multi million dollar mansions. So activist of him.
I don't trust a word this man says. After watching Ezra Levant expose Suzuki for what he really is, it's safe to say he's a hypocrite and a disgrace.
XOXOXO David Suzuki
did not know he is a Canadian :).
you must not be Canadian
Wish he wasn't, he's an embarrassment!
Japanese
David Suzuki rode a Honda.
He is not pure and has an agenda. I prefer a Pure man who is not in it just for the money !
Complete phony. Lives in a $10 million house in Kitsilano and owns a waterfront home on Quadra Island. The only "green" this character is interested in is money. Go away.

He has been proven wrong on so many environment issues he lost all respect.
