Whilst the animation definitely isn't quite as buttery smooth as it is in episode one, you can definitely tell that they're also saving up for those moments when they actively need to use it very effectively, whilst still getting a fair bit more animation in smaller scenes than normal. It's good. Keeps to the vibes of the show very well, especially when used alongside the creative colour choices they make. The scene where Okarun goes for the Flatwoods Monster's leg is an especially good one - the manga itself is really good at conveying motion and has some amazing art.
Before someone says something, yes I know how Sakuga works and that this is a general thing. I'm more getting at how the show seems to be focusing more on movement than anime tend to, to the point where it's even using a lot more flat colours and lower linecounts on characters. It's just that it's still basically impossible to keep episode 1's level of animation up at all times, so it's nice to see them still finding ways to keep the very kinetic energy present in Tatsu's art present without seeming to risk working themselves into the ground.
The animation quality in the adaptation is like butter on a fine steak! The source material is fantastic and they really animated their hearts out with it!
The only thing im not liking is they are not making Ken grow when he transforms. In the manga he becomes quite a bit taller and lankier, which is not really being portrayed here. The shot where he transforms for the second time shows only the hair change. Its not that big of a deal but imo it made the transformation more a more spectacular contrast to his normal self.

4:15 I mean I have IBS so I rip fart quite often, cause otherwise it becomes a bigger issue. However doing it in someones face is wild! I mean at least turn in another direction :D
12:17 hmm, she holds up her hand here to keep the curse at bay, but earlier she didn’t when talking to Ken / Oka-kun. Maybe it’s more so on Ken’s part to be calm and level, at least for maybe a moment, to keep turbo-granny away by himself. She only intervenes when he freaks out and loses control 🤔
Butter. Watching the vids when I was feeling super out of it and tired, and your vibe completely brought back my energy. Then again, it's past midnight and I have school tomorrow.(I'm a senior)
12:58 maybe adding some context here but in the manga Okarun calls Momo a skank here, not ugly. I don't know what Okarun calls her in the English dub. I think the main point of the line is that Okarun is just mad Momo was right and called him out over it so he just threw out an insult out of frustration, obviously he never meant it.
with ken calling her ugly at 13:35, i think it's because she said she likes how hes blunt when they spoke over the phone in ep. 1. so he's trying not to hold back around her. ignoring the copium, i think hes trying there to be authentic for her, not push her away
I can't believe that some people didn't comment "Butter". That said, here's something of note: At 05:54 Ayase says that her grandma "almost killed A previous boyfriend". This statement is weird, because we know from the first episode that Ayase has only ever had 1 boyfriend before, the douchebag we met in the first scene of the show. It would make more sense to say "almost killed my previous boyfriend" if said douche-canoe was meant here. It could be that the Grandmother also takes down the guys in her own relationships, not just the guys that approach her granddaughter. Or it could just be a translation choice that implies moer than there actually is.
In the kitchen’s glow, a treasure waits, A block of butter, where craving creates. Golden and rich, like a sunlit dream, I slice it with joy, oh, how it gleams. Smooth and silky, it beckons my name, A taste so indulgent, it’s almost a game. I nibble a corner, then take a bold bite, Creamy delight dances, pure appetite. No bread to hold it, just me and the block, A savory ritual, my heart in a shock. Each morsel melts softly, a buttery bliss, In this moment of decadence, I find my true kiss. The world fades away, just me and the churn, With each bite I take, more cravings return. Guilt whispers softly, but I hush it away, For this is my feast, my own grand buffet. So here’s to the butter, rich, unconfined, In the heart of my kitchen, pure joy intertwined. A love so indulgent, a simple delight, Eating entire blocks, oh, what a sweet flight!
I am probably *margarine*aly wrong on this, but my gut feeling was that he was speaking in either a style similar to some of Ken Takekura's roles or subconciously quoting his actual lines while transformed which was part of why Momo tried to find a solution that would not keep having her listen to his lines. Also, his desire to not lose the only potential friend may be the main reason he agreed to her term to not say his own name aloud.

One thing you’re gonna learn as the series goes on is that Okarun will 100% stand on business. Our boy’s got a spine of steel when it counts.
The animation so far is smooth as butter~
Hopefully it continues.
Dandadan, definitelly one of the best anime this season.
Butter than almost any other.
Yeah! Channel recovered! Butterful, you love to see it!
The best part about dandadan is the dub he just says “bitch” I love this show so much
Tim Burton, Hellsing and Ken Kaneki had a baby and named it Okarun
I love the manga but who couldve known, that the animation is so buttery smooth?!
Its been ages since i have seen a good battle couple, i'm looking forward to the rest of this show.
Animation is BUTTERy smooth
goddamn this show is good, so glad they adapted the manga so well, i’ve been a fan for a while so this is fantastic 😄 Gotta love that Butter-y smooth animation :p
Butter makes me think she wanted to make the secret intro word "banana" lol
this episode is smooth like butter how good it is.
i think the turbo granny at the end of the episode did the pose from the exorcist
I understood "udder" at first and was hella confused but yeah "butter". Those callouts usually remind me to look if i have LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED TO ALICIAXLIFE AND ALICIAXDEATH
4:15 I mean I have IBS so I rip fart quite often, cause otherwise it becomes a bigger issue. However doing it in someones face is wild! I mean at least turn in another direction :D
You know what? valid
*long pause* butter.
7:47 she *is* best girl! The best character in the show for me!
"Oi luffy, i'm borrowing this girls uterus."
Butter. Watching the vids when I was feeling super out of it and tired, and your vibe completely brought back my energy. Then again, it's past midnight and I have school tomorrow.(I'm a senior)
animation is smooth as... butter
Today episode was so fire it melted the butter
there was one time my right shoe's sole fully broke off while i was walking through surrey to go to my cousin's house
This series is now my bread and Butter
Cheese
Bro gonna have his dawgs out thw whole anime, never thought that super speed was that problematic
BUTTER! I love this episode so much!
Smooth like BUTTER!
Smooth like "BUTTER".
with ken calling her ugly at 13:35, i think it's because she said she likes how hes blunt when they spoke over the phone in ep. 1. so he's trying not to hold back around her. ignoring the copium, i think hes trying there to be authentic for her, not push her away
We love soft boys with the backbone to fight for what's right. Like Deku and Tanjiro.
This react is so butter ❤ You right about the show too
butter? Butter burger? Sounds like a good time
I can’t with this show, it’s so good! It’s perfect, like bread and butter……
💀
In the kitchen’s glow, a treasure waits,
A block of butter, where craving creates.
Golden and rich, like a sunlit dream,
I slice it with joy, oh, how it gleams.
Smooth and silky, it beckons my name,
A taste so indulgent, it’s almost a game.
I nibble a corner, then take a bold bite,
Creamy delight dances, pure appetite.
No bread to hold it, just me and the block,
A savory ritual, my heart in a shock.
Each morsel melts softly, a buttery bliss,
In this moment of decadence, I find my true kiss.
The world fades away, just me and the churn,
With each bite I take, more cravings return.
Guilt whispers softly, but I hush it away,
For this is my feast, my own grand buffet.
So here’s to the butter, rich, unconfined,
In the heart of my kitchen, pure joy intertwined.
A love so indulgent, a simple delight,
Eating entire blocks, oh, what a sweet flight!
