Homemade cocoa mix: 1 8quart box instant non fat milk, 1 lb. Nestles quick (I use sugar free), 2 cups CoffeeMate. If you want you can add 2-3 tablespoons dry vanilla flavor. 1/3 cup mix to 1 cup very hot water. I've been making this for years and its very tasty.
I could see supper in just what you were showing. My recipe for Fideo is to toast the noodles in a little oil until golden brown, add a can or 2 of beans, tomatoes, taco seasoning, the chilis, a cup or 2 of water and let it cook until the noodles are tender and the water absorbed. You can add a can of chicken or beef to this for a heartier meal, but this is delicious by itself. Cheap survival food at its finest.
We took your advice and went to a yard sale last weekend. I scored a food mill in new condition for $4.00! Really thrilled. Thanks for the thrift video.
With the impending strike by port workers, it's important to add to your pantry now! I buy loads of Walmart canned vegetables, and rice, etc, the mixes like you bought. It's amazing what you can make with these items. I also add items I can feed me pets, as well as myself, in the event I can't get pet food. Thank you for a great video, Jinne!
I used the Lipton onion soup mix with olive oil and put it over butternut squash cubes and baked it. I’ve done the same with potatoes. It really makes them taste delicious and mixes up the variety of food so you don’t get food fatigue.
I love the Great Value ketchup. It's thick like Heinz and to me it tastes exactly the same and so much cheaper than Heinz. I definitely recommend for anyone that won't buy anything but Heinz. Also the great value bottled ranch dressing is really good. I like the buttermilk one and the regular. The only great value products that I don't like are the cookies and crackers and recently tried the great value black tea and not a fan. It just doesn't compare to Lipton.
Hey Jinny, Love watching your channel. Did you know the Yellow mustard is great for when you have a leg cramp in the middle of the night? it relieves it in seconds. They use this method in many sports. Not just for sandwiches!!!!
Amazing to find anything for $1 or less so good job in finding a few to show us! Checking the markdown areas of the grocery stores and bigger retails stores might also help you find some bargains. The cocoa packets are good for stocking stuffers. Cocoa is going up in price so maybe making your own will be more expensive this year too! Always appreciate that you mention more than one use for certain things, that really helps. Watch all of the stores that carry seasonal things like paper plates, cups, napkins and utensils. Often they will do half price or less for these items once that holiday is over and I put them aside for next holiday, or if they are generic in color or design, can be used again sooner. For example solid red plates are often sold for 4th of July but can be used again for Christmas and Valentine's day or just use them if you need them for any reason. One good tip I heard is to be familiar with what you are buying for your stockpile so that you have mostly what you are willing to eat and like.
Hey Jinne!! Here in NE Ohio the Panic TP buying has started 🙄🙄. I went to 3 of our local grocery stores today to top off a few things. The first grocery store had huge gaps in the TP and paper towel section. They also had zero bread flour. The second grocery store did have 5 bags of bread flour. That was it. I purchased 2. The third store was an Aldi and it looked like a tornado 🌪️ had gone through the store, so turned around and walked out. Come on people 🙄🙄 Stop already with the dang panic 😱 buying. It serves no one well.
@@danniemcdonald7675 LOOK. Jinne has been telling us for YEARS to stock up! Your comment is laughable. @lulamamie8524 I am very well stocked up. I'm talking about the stores can't get supplies in. That's why the shelves may be empty. Nothing was meant to be funny. But I was commenting on your assumption that the shelves were empty due to panic buying. Sorry, I thought that was obvious.
Thank you, this was very interesting and I’m going to take you up on it. I’ve got to go to to Walmart tomorrow to get some paper bags for my vacuum sealing . I’m going to take $30 and see what my $30 can buy. I have a 5 gallon bucket With a Mylar bag full of every type of macaroni that once upon a time cost $.68 a box and now it’s $.98 a box. But it’s so much cheaper than the national brand! Since we live on the Mexican border, we have stores that are dedicated to Mexican food. Occasionally, I have to readjust my brain because everything is in Spanish, but don’t be intimidated by these stores. They always have pictures and you can tell in the box by what picture is. After all, it doesn’t matter what language you use a banana is a banana! The letters may be very different. It’s that yellow banana. It’s a banana bad joke. I’m going to bed. Good night all.
Sometimes, you have to buy a brand and see if it's good or not. Some cheap brands are good, some aren't. Same thing goes for expensive brands ... some are good, some are awful.
Hello, that was so interesting. I think i might try that next time i head off to walmart. Here in Canada i might have to up it to things under 2 dollars but i think that that will make it worth while as well. Thank you so much for sharing and have a lovely day.
I have seen SEV-ER-AL prepper videos with lists of food items under a dollar! DG still has a $1 section, Aldi (I know you don't have those) has quite a few items under a dollar, and also things under $2. We really need to make sure we have all the holes filled in, and that we have a good variety! Great video!
I think you had a great haul. Jello is a great source of gelatin which is good for hair and nails. If no power dissolve (to your taste )in water and drink it. Good for growing children.
Hello, i wanted to share an update. On the walmart website they actually have a section of items for under a dollar. I checked it out and there were over 61 items that would fit nicely into any pantry. I also checked out another grocery store and although they didn't have a definite section of under a dollar, i did find so far quite a few things for the pantry. So, the next time i go shopping i am definitely going to be checking these out and making a list. This was so exceptionally helpful. Thank you again.
It seems that you got a lot of food for your $31! I was surprised (and disappointed) to see that your WalMart prices are noticeably lower. The Mac and cheese is .83, canned vegetables are at least .74, and so on. I guess I should be sure to shop in Maine when we’re there!❤🇺🇸
Thank you for your video! I really appreciate this content. As the weather is getting colder, and less and less trips to the grocery store... To be prepared is key! Thank you for sharing your ideas!!!!😊😊
Camp ovens are a great investment, they can set on a wood stove, BBQ, fire pit. But I do agree, if you don't have that type of thing it would be more difficult.
Ninety seven cents each for a single envelope of cocoa is very expensive. You can get a package of ten for much much cheaper and still be able to give single servings out as gifts. No savings at all. I forgive you because you are a dog lover.🤗 Thats a good tip to add pudding to a cake mix.😃
Hello all, I get the asian mixes as well and add them to potatoes, rice, squash, then add can chicken and usually green beans, and you get very different meals with few ingredients.
It's challenging to find items that are gluten-free for longterm storage. That also goes for anyone who has insulin-resistance who isn't able to eat all the pasta, rice, cereal and packaged mixes. So look for whole, real foods as much as possible. Read ingredient labels on canned goods. Try stocking nuts, nut butter, aged cheese, grass-fed beef sticks, beans, powdered eggs, ghee, etc.
Great!!! Calories over starvation, well that's a good thing. Need to learn to eat sardines - yuk. I have to be careful of processed salts. I have an allergy to these, Sodium Citrate will send me into anaphylactic shock. EpiPen and 6 hours in the ER. Thank You! EDIT: Lasagna with any kind of pasta is still wonderful.
@joeyhardin. I have about a dozen tins of sardines that I had bought for my cat who has since passed away (19 years old). Guess I'll either donate or give to my taxi driver for his cats. I can't handle those little fish eyes looking at me.👁👁 👀

Walmart carries boxes of unsalted beef and chicken broth.
The cream of chicken soup is really good mixed with rice. I make it with instant rice, a can of chicken and a little butter

I just posted that I keep it in stock in case someone can't keep food down or needs to be on a liquid diet.
When you add the jello powder to the hot water, do you keep adding until the flavor is how you want or what ? Could you explain this alittle more.
