I reacted to the full Hamilton Musical over on patreon. Its a whopping 3.5 hr long video! Absolutely phenomenal show and that is coming from someone who isn't a huge fan of musicals. I loved every bit of it and will be highly recommending it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet 😂
The spit was both Jonathan Groff being a spitter on stage & him drinking a bunch of water & holding it in his mouth as a nod to how King George literally went mad. There are accounts of him spitting & foaming at the mouth as he lost his mind. Brilliant stuff on Groff's part, imo.
Jonathan Groff has said he just salivates a lot when singing and it fit the character so he let the slobber fly 😂 I also love that Lin Manuel Miranda watched this with Prince Harry, King George’s 6 times great grandson 🤣
Definitely the comedic relief of the show. You should watch the entire thing. It's incredible. And I feel like if he wiped his spit it would've taken people out of the show. He stuck with it. He's known to spit haha.
I always made the joke that front row seats come with "Splash Zone" warnings. Makes you wonder what singing in the car looks like. He would need windshield wipers on the inside.
It's ironic that the best character out of the entire play was the very King they wanted to be separate from. The show is great but as a student of the American Revolution, it is funny to see King George III being liked the most out the entire show. They captured his madness very well in the songs too.
Enunciation can cause spit. Stage actors, and especially Shakespearian actors, often spit. Al Pacino was known for this when he performed on stage, including his role as Richard III. I was in the front row, so I experienced it first-hand. See Hamilton if you haven't!!
On top of that, what the USA does it absolute pointless even counterproductive. It's more about to get rid of a good ruler than to get rid of a bad one (you got way more of those anyway). Also: just changing the poster girl means pretty much nothing for the politicis in a system like the USA.
Democracy was invented by ancient Greeks, Roma was a republic for centuries l, San Marino is the oldest republic that still exists nowadays... no, THAT was not the first time that something lokenthis happened.
In my college Theater 101 class we learned the spit was because of how hard the song is sing because of key changes and octaves, so therefore the mouth has to stay moist and such to be able to do that.
You are aware democracy comes from Ancient Greece right? It wasn't common for tousands of years but it wasn't a new idea, it was most common for "democracy" to exist in more hidden forms like merchant republics or clans etc.
Someone stepping away from power didn't happen first in America, tons of societies had the same thing going. Whole basis of modern political science comes from Ancient Greece where it was practiced, and Aristotle wrote "Politics"
Well from a Brit he has the British 🇬🇧 upper class snobbery to a tee. I loved this , he is clearly theatre 🎭 trained. The spitting is pronunciation darling 🤣 one criticism not mad enough for George the 3rd 🥉but important to note Parliament run the war not the king. We would rather blame the French blockade
Crazy eyes. Spit and drool. *HEAVY SIGH* King George went mad. (That’s why he’s referred to as Crazy King George) He’s portraying a king/character who went M A D. A S I N: I N S A N E. 🤪 The spit is spot-on. (Did no one study American history in high-school?) 🤦🏻♂️
Supposedly one of the symptoms of his malady was described as dark, almost Blue urine. Knowing LMM attention to detail I thing that is why he is bathed in a blue light when he stomps and sings “I’m so BLUE. Mad and screams and spits. Groff says he spits when he sings but looks like he did excessively in this case. Switching from vitriolic screaming to Da das !!
Do you really think the US, in 1797, was the first place in the world to elect someone else at the end of an (unwritten) term limit? What do they teach in the US schools?

I will be watching that, thank you sir lol
I finally saw it live in March. I loved it.
King George had mental issues, apparently he used to spit a lot.
Thank you! I read this and I joined to your Patreon, this night I’m going to watch your reaction 🤗 I love Hamilton ❤
@@Sub.Star1 Hope you enjoy!!

I was gonna say this thank you for saving me the time😂😂
Well the king had a lisp so he spit a lot when he talked
Also, the first row is usually the "splash zone." Because the actors need to project to a whole theater.
Actually, he didn’t put any water in his mouth.
@@Frogggsy 🤓
The spit was definitely a choice. As was the lack of blinking. The madness of King George and all that.
Jonathan Groff has said he just salivates a lot when singing and it fit the character so he let the slobber fly 😂 I also love that Lin Manuel Miranda watched this with Prince Harry, King George’s 6 times great grandson 🤣
Wow that is a cool fun fact
"What's with the spit?" King George III actually did go mad late in his reign. Jonathan is just foreshadowing.

King George is easily the best part of Hamilton. Loved revisiting his scenes through this vid. Good stuff, bud!
I have been repeating quotes from him daily now 😂
His delivery of "I wasn't aware that was something a person could do" is incredible
I always made the joke that front row seats come with "Splash Zone" warnings.
Makes you wonder what singing in the car looks like. He would need windshield wipers on the inside.
😂😂
The Spit is B/C King G III became mad and would foam and spit at and around the mouth. Quite beautiful representation really.

This guy didnt know democracy existed before America?! Just because the King couldn't conceive of it doesnt mean it never existed.

@@miriamweller812 The president used to actually mean a lot, it's changed quite a lot over the life of the country.
Even though Britain has a monarchy he does realize we had prime ministers even during the time of George iii.
AS KIng George starts to go crazy, he'd spit and foam at the mouth, so that why he does it.
I need the whole Hamilton reaction 😩
I highly recommend watching him as the Mindhunter in the tv series of the same name.
Democracy was invented by ancient Greeks, Roma was a republic for centuries l, San Marino is the oldest republic that still exists nowadays... no, THAT was not the first time that something lokenthis happened.
He’s my favorite part of Hamilton
"President John Ædams"
- King George III apperantly -
This was my favourite part of the show. I'm a bit old-school and this is the only traditional theatre style song
In my college Theater 101 class we learned the spit was because of how hard the song is sing because of key changes and octaves, so therefore the mouth has to stay moist and such to be able to do that.
you forgot when he comes back in the reynolds pamphlet!

Ok, I'll watch Hamilton again.

I love sweetheart the French revolution happened before America It was not the 1st
Check out the King George in Bridgerton 😅
I’m so thankful they let us know that that wasn’t historically accurate or my brain would’ve melted. But they did call him the mad king george
You know, he was convinced Washington was haunting him after Washington died
Check out the movie “The Madness of King George”. Nigel Hawthorne as King George , Helen Mirren as Queen Charlotte
No. There had been other democracies before America so people did change leaders. I believe 1 even changed their leader every year
He's not pretentious, he's an English king! Did you not hear how Queen Liz talked? And Charlie's the same.
You missed the air quote when he called America as country because you paused it exactly when he did it at 6.23
I need more reactions to hamilton PLEASE 😭
The reasons for the spit was on purpose, king George was going insane
Crazy eyes. Spit and drool.
*HEAVY SIGH*

So after this We got east Make the best army in history Ocean's rise empires fall remember it we do it all
Please just remember its King George III....lol.
Yeah, the spit was what King George supposedly did, and KG was kind of looney too..
5:10 you insulted all the english people in your audiance, good job
He told you how America and got it i Independence fighting with French and Spain Mention them when you're saying it was a famers
Sadly, no time to swallow when singing without losing time, better to spit it out.
