Whenever I hear someone ask if someone else is into men or women and the person answering says “both” but the asker says “but you’re dating a boy/girl” as some sort of counter to that I mentally rage at them thinking “dude, they JUST told you their sexuality; it doesn’t change on whoever they date currently they like men and women! Get that through your head already!”

god, people need to stop saying bisexuality is a phase because then if it actually is a phase for someone they're gonna feel terrible and like they've let down other bisexuals and also yes this is an actual fear I have whenever I feel the smallest bit of attraction towards men but then again I'm so tired of the game of "fuck it" where I say "fuck it I'll just be a lesbian, I don't need men" then the next day I'm like "fuck it I'm bi it doesn't matter if I like girls more I still feel attraction for girls and boys so it's fine, I'm bi" and then I turn around and say but if men didn't exist I'd be great, so I just need to pretend that I have no attraction to men and they don't exist.
I obviously have a lot of issues that I haven't dealt with but back in the box they go until the next random youtube comment at 1 am

It's talking about people who are experimenting/still figuring it out (which is perfectly valid, sometimes it takes time to understand your sexuality), and identify as bi in that moment. Some might stay bi forever, but some might realize that's not what they truly want. The person is talking about how they don't want other people to think being bi is a "phase" just because it might be a phase for them.

If it helps at all, I label myself as a bi-lesbian due to being attracted to women, but being open to date a man if that's who I end up in love with.
(Note that bisexual isn't a 50/50 thing, but for me, it doesn't feel exact to go by bisexual alone.)
It may seem confusing to go by a label like that, but in the end; labels should help you define who you are, not squish you into a box. So explore labels! If you don't think "bi" quite fits, give yourself the space and time to see what does, love!
