Great video. A couple of points: the original LifePod can no longer be opened with a fork (program button is disabled when the safe is locked), and the original LifePod now comes with a steel security cable. So the primary difference is really just size and the tray.

Great video and I agree with you about the turning the interior LED light off using a simple switch; however, in talking with some design engineers, most are instructed, "If you can do it with written code on a chip, we don't have to spend money on a switch, wiring, etc." Bottom line is money, even if it's for a 1/4 cent switch. And today's engineers' thought process is, "I want it to look cool and futuristic, so let's write more code for multiple functions." I constantly talk to design engineers on software logic, problems and their lack of understanding to user interface. I tell them "Quit trying to create the Star Ship Enterprise when we only need a 1974 Pinto!" I get stared at because they have no idea what a 1974 Pinto is!

Very true, some handgun models quickly make you realize "Full Size" categorization is quite relative when storage and carrying demands come into play. In some EDC storage instances you'll have to discard the Lid Organizer, and any other extra foam, to accommodate extra mags, Lights, etc.

I made mine a combo and carry it in the sling made for the 2.0 the lock it to under the seat if I can't carry a firearm into somewhere. Carry my full-size and all other EDC needs in the lifepod 2.0 then use the bag for my extra mags for body carry edc and have a small armor plate slipped in the back.
Clutch new set up, now time for a cool new knife to carry with it.

I'll be waiting on the 3.0 or at the very least a 2.5 lol. The biometric scanner is a must. If your needing to get to your weapon fast and your adrenaline is pumping, your not going to have the ability to punch in a code much les trying to remember the code for it when seconds count.

    • @mzbarsk

If you need to get to your weapon fast, don't rely on biometrics. Get a mechanical safe like Fort Knox pistol box. Biometrics don't work too well with oily hands or when sweating - something that WILL happen when adrenaline is pumping.

When you open the safe to grab the pistol in an emergency, you have to move the shelf out of the way before you can get to the pistol, which would take two hands or one hand for two tasks. The only way for the tray to fit with a handgun, would be if it was a narrow subcompact. Then you'd have trouble fitting boxed ammo on top. The next problem is using the tray will allow everything to slide around like crazy, so extra foam cut to your needs will be needed.

These are pretty cool but way too expensive for what they are, and what they are is a nice easy carry case for thieves with bolt cutters to take your guns! In all seriousness, if you travel (fly) a lot I guess these might be worthwhile... otherwise save yourself some money and buy a Liberty car safe. Only leave your guns in the safe when you absolutely can't have them on you or can't put them away. Don't leave your guns in your car. That is how your guns become someone else's guns.

@@ChrispyThings you can choose to believe it or not, but it's literally more labor for the little sweatshop hands to assemble the wires that go into a type C. I'd rather have the type C for all my devices as well, but I'm not running a tech equipment manufacturer in China.

I'm not making this stuff up. There's even TH-cam videos about it. Gamers Nexus has made videos walking through the manufacturers plant floor talking about the extra expense and labor of using type C.

You don't have to go broke in this industry waiting and patience will help you make the decision and less likely to go broke

After going through tens of travel security safe options and reviews, I finally bought the Lifepod 2.0 Biometric option (the one you reviewed didn't have the biometric feature as you understandably had a gripe about it). Very study, stylish, functional, secure, near un-hackable. If you're in LE, and prone to regular air travel, this is your go-to EDC travel safe.

Honestly I love their products . I like the smaller unit better , I lock it in my tire well when I must leave my gun in the car because I entered a gun free zone which there are quite a few in NYC , lol , quite a few . The one thing I would love to see from this company is a steel handle that can be pulled out from the top of the box so it can be carried easily , instead of having to place it into a knapsack . I do not like holding it in my hands and walking with it as someone can try to snatch it and run off , a steel handle that can come out of the top like a carry on suitcase would be awesome . Then I would use it for all my items as my everyday briefcase

It is for putting a power supply into so you can open it electronically in the case the batteries die and you don't have the physical key or you have disabled the physical key, which can be done to make the physical lock pick proof. If they change to USB-C, I will buy one.
