    Nice. I recently opened a Stutzle YG from a single drug store pack. By far my best hockey card pull so far.

    I preordered the retail boxes at $59 usd and within weeks, it jumped up in price. However I was silly enough to preorder it with the tins and due to the release delay of the tins, I have yet to receive these boxes!!! When it comes to value for money (at least for YG chasing), retail boxes are the way to go! Definitely better to grab something like this, especially for folks like me who don't care too much about the hobby exclusives. I gotta admit, I did write off the rookie class of this year's series 2 since I felt it was quite top heavy. You're right, these rookies can break out at any point and there are quite a few of those names who are making contributions in the NHL right now. That was a fantastic break! Congrats on the Timmy pull. He will be a superstar indeed.

    Nice box. You are in my opinion absolutely right when it comes to the YGS crop in series 2. I have also made the comparison with 14-15. There is great star potential there with Stutzle, Kaprizov, Cozens, Sorokin, Lankinen and Höglander. I think both Sherangovich and Leonard might end up really good as well. And then there are all the defensmen like Smith, Romanov, Miller.

  • @SharksAttack

    I think there are several really good Young Guns in series 2. I paid 80€ of the series 1 retail box. Haven't bought series 2 yet.

    Not too shabby on that opening. I always enjoy your openings as you give the most informative reviews. I totally agree with you about Series 2 of UD as a lot of great RC have come out in Series 2 in the past, as far back as Pavel Bure(of course Calder Trophy winner) was in series 2. Have a great day. #DRYDEN

      Oh what a great example. I might compose a list. I always try to sell UDS2 to ppl, because if you don't have a deep pocket - like a teenager - at least you can hit an OPC Lafreniere if you airball Kiril or Stuetzle. I don't know many products with 16 rookies, incl. inserts.

    When hunting YG retail is the way to go for sure. I don't understand why people are putting down the rookies in series 2. Not only are there some good rookies in it, you never can tell what some of them might develop into. I personally collect rookies of anyone. It's quite an accomplishment just to make it to get a RC so they are all valuable in my opinion. Great video as always.

    • @Fultoncards
      @Fultoncards  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally. For me, it's a bit existential. I'd do anything to play a single NHL period. A lot of those kids were lights out at the WJC. Yes, some of those YGs are undrafted players. But to me that means they should be quadruply proud that they have an UD YG, or made it to the show. We have zero idea who will flourish, as they develop their craft. Zetterberg was drafted in the 7th round, and Luc Robitaille was drafted in the 9th round. The narrowing of what players we should value obviously really irritates me. It's just not how I see the hobby, or the game.

    Cool box, Stutzle will be a major star in the league, really loved is intensity at the world junior tournament, that showed us that even with a rough situation like the German team were in, he still wanted to compete at his best, when others would have just accept to be beaten. And really love the dazzler cards, reminds me of the vintage UD Choice Starquest! #DRYDEN

    Great to finally see the Stutzle!
    I haven't heard anyone down on Series 2 rookies. In my opinion, the Series 2 rookie class is better than what was in Series 1.

    • @Fultoncards
      @Fultoncards  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well. To my mind, UDS1 gets a *ton* of hype, due to its release date and the inclusion of the #1 draft pick. On occasion I put the question to ppl which they prefer. Overwhelmingly ppl say UDS1 with all this idle chatter, and dismissiveness re. OPC RCs. I'm just such a fan of OPC Marquee Rookies, and the fact that stars can emanate from late rounds. Certainly true of Gilmour, Brett Hull, Datsyuk, etc. In 2014, all the hype was around Eklbad, and no one even knew who Pastrnak was. Yet, Ekbald YG is now a $15 card, even though he's having a great career. Ppl chase and speculate with so little context around player development, markets, etc. Social media now acts like an echo chamber, narrowing focus on just a handful of names to the detriment of others who may prove to be better players. And now there is this online gaming culture around opening packs as if it is a video game, and actual video games, chasing endorphin rushes. I believe it can destroy the hobby aspects I've valued since infancy. It also ignores that developing one's craft, e.g. third rounders like Brayden Point or Binnington, can outpace talent. So I actually even enjoy undrafted YGs, and feel a need to push back.
