    Consistency is 🔑. For almost anything in life (especially endurance sports). As an seasoned endurance runner people think I am built for it, but that is only part of it. I train year round an only take 2 to 3 planned weeks off a year. It is a lifestyle choice to be a good endurance athlete. LIVE THE LIFE

    • @Mangyek0
      @Mangyek0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Bro, everybody talks about how consistency is key, yet nobody, absolutely nobody talks about how to build consistency. I am motivated, I go, I run, I work out, feel good. Two weeks later, I'm like fuck it. And then i stop. Idk how to be consistent.

    Completely agree with your statement about only doing 1 ironman or marathon. Although that is super impressive and an amazing accomplishment, it starts to really matter once it becomes your life for the long run. In theory everyone can dedicate some months or a year to 1 goal, but it is when life starts to creep up on you and you continue to strive towards that goal that it really starts to show in you as a person. To me true perseverence when life gets hard is what really shows who you are. (Note: English is not my native language, hope I'm clear :))

    Did my first marathon in Jan 2020. Hoping to do another in Jan 2021. Learned a lot in my first one... a lot of people told me “if you can run 20 miles you can run a marathon” - bad idea - I got to about 22 miles and got really tired and slowed down to like a 12 minute pace. So I will train myself to be able to do 30 easily and then a marathon should seem reasonably easy.

Try to switch it up between one fast pace run for a short distance. A slow run on longer distance. And a interval training.

    Biggest question I have for you. Breathing technique...in with mouth, out with mouth? I've tried in with nose out with mouth..it keeps me paced and slow heart beat but I can run fast. Right now I breathe half in mouth and then close my mouth and breathe half with my nose..and then out with my mouth. I remember in high school they said to breathe a certain way and I forgot lol

    How do you keep yourself from being injured? I feel like when I’ve pushed myself to punch through that wall, I end up with an injury that then takes forever to heal.

    Hey Nick, not sure if you’ve done it already, but can you do a video on correct running form? I absolutely love your content and I’m training for the Parachute Regiment (UK) right now but the sides of my knees struggle with runs with higher mileage. I assume it’s my form!

    I like the wall analogy. You have to be mentally tough to workout consistently.

    What do I do with my knees and shins barely 2 mile into my run. They basically kill me during and after the run.
