Brilliant time for British football and we had brilliant commentary from the likes of Brian Moore.
Golden years.. the colour the crowd the voices of kids the atmosphere the real tuff game.. 💪 ❤👍👍
This must be the only time in the history of "The Big Match" that Brian Moore uttered the words "The pictures come from Harlech", the company name changing to HTV two months later with the advent of colour in the dual region.
Yes ya right
Jimmy Hill is an absolutely superb analyst. I think that every time I see one of these videos.
When players were players and groundsmen were miracle workers.
I sometimes wish I was alive for these days. Football was a lot better in some ways. And actual English people lived in England.
I was 14 and went down from Manchester on the special with some mates from school. The ticket cost was 5 shillings as I recall (25p). Train ticket (boys fare) was about the same and the programme was an exorbitant 2 shillings (10p). I'm told it's worth £200 today. I was in the end where the fighting was. It was pretty tame by United standards and the police soon had it under control. This brought it all back. Best was something else.
When Palace and Chelsea were British teams.
The last goal in the Northampton v Man U game was the best - the great Frankie Large !
A real old school battering ram of a forward!
A brief glimpse of Kevin Keegan at Scunthorpe.
A legend is born
Wonderful 👍👍👍
Cue Bill Oddie or Sir David Attenborough..."Here we have a rare sighting of the lesser spotted Carlo Sartori, 55 games for United over eight seasons, in which he scored six goals". Carlo's that bright orange haired lad up front somewhere.
21;45 Brian Moore saying that the ball is barely in the corner quadrant back in 1970 , he must turn in his grave when he looks down and see's what players do now with the ball at corners
The Crystal Palace pitch looked like wet cement.
Commentators much more enthusiastic than the droll that John Motson started
Always loved Hugh Johns.
Brian Moore was a fine commentator
48,000 crowd....£22,000 gate receipts!!
Yes a pound was big dosh in those days
@@edmundpower1250 I can remember paying 30p to get in to the County Ground at Northampton back in the 70's
Fair pricing for a Working class game, mostly standing, packed in, kids down the front, 10p a hotdog 15p a burger and standing up on crowded train all the way home!
If it poured down.....you got soaked.
WTF is the goal keeper doing at 38:31.
Imagine todays luvies playing on a pitch like that.
Good for their face masks..
Scunthorpe's pitch was even worse, 90% splodge mud but that's footy. Pitches came in all sorts of conditions & that gave you a challenge & skill & drive to win. Now it is ju
Keep hearing these comments yet You all still watch Today's Football
How much have palace changed there kit from todays version. South east london v south west london darby with a good mix of fans at the game. The year chelsea won the f.a cup. Brian moore at his best great days.

@@edmundpower1250 oh I see
@@edmundpower1250 oh that's a shame i've been loving these!
There could be many reasons, people have busy lives but you're right, it would be good to see more. Maybe the person behind it has realised that uploading them all to YT is not always the best idea as once they are on here they are worthless for swaps. My channel is mainly snooker although I do have other sporting videos but will never upload everything I have, as they can be used to obtain other rare material from fellow collectors.
