I mean, only if America started shit - they were by far a more imperialistic power than the USSR, and I don't think there's any chance in hell the Soviets would've attacked first. They might've put nukes in Alaska as a deterrent to US aggression, and depending on the US reaction we might've had a Cuban missile crisis on steroids in that timeline, but, again, America was by far the more warmongering superpower of the cold war, so the USSR would only retaliate if the US declared war first, which I don't think they would've done either because of MAD...
@@Vict0r1984 The USSR was by far the more Imperialistic power, exemplified in the secret protocols of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact were the USSR pursued Imperial expansion over countries that did not wish to join it by allying with the Nazis. Another example is the handling of newly liberated territories after WW2 the US opted to hold free elections in the west whilst the USSR forced Communism upon Eastern Europe, making it so that when NATO was established it was a collaborative defensive pact between multiple democratic nations whilst the Warsaw pact was nothing more then the USSR and its puppets who didn't have much of a say in the matter.
@@Panzernumbawan I'm not denying there was Soviet imperialism under Stalin - the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact was not an alliance though... It was a non-agression pact where both powers agreed to divide several countries in Eastern Europe - they didn't collaborate in any capacity and both the USSR and the Nazis expected a future war against each other... The USSR invafing the Baltic states, as well as Eastern Poland and Northeastern Romania was imperialistic for sure, but it was no more an "alliance with Nazi Germany" than Chamberlain and Roosevelt letting the Nazis annex Sudetland and then all of Czechoslovakia. That said, you are insane if you think America is less imperialistic than the USSR! America started more than 10 times as many wars than the Soviets throughout the cold war to ensure countries renained within their spere of influence, rigged countless of those supposed "free elections" (read up on the Italian 1948 election for example), established the Bretton Woods system where the dollar became the world's reserve currency, allowing them unprecedented power over world trade, couped and/or invaded any democratically-elected leader that it didn't like (Iran in 1953, Chile in 1973 and many others) and in general pursued ruthless policies of supporting right wing military juntas, genocidal states (like Israel) and anything to "defeat the reds". Yes, the USSR enforced its system at gunpoint over a handful of Eastern European countries (including my own, as I'm actually from Romania), but America enforced its system via coups, invasions, embargoes and sanctions, stolen elections and occasionally also legitimate elections, over almost the entire world, including the Eastern block after 1991. If we look at wars, the US beats the USSR by a long shot! If we look at supported coups and political assassinations, again the US beats the USSR! If we look at stolen resources, mineral wealth and neocolonialism, the US again beats the USSR by a long shot! If we look at financial domination and keeping countries in the 3rd world impoverished raw material and cheap labour neocolonies via the austerity terms of IMF and World bank loans, America again beats the USSR by a long shot! Even if we look at political control over Satellite states, the Red Army withdrew from most of Eastern Europe by the 1960s (East Germany is an exception) and allowed all of its "satellite states" complete nationalised control of their own planned economies, whereas America kept having military bases in western Europe, South Korea, Japan etc all the way until... nowadays, and also increasingly facilitated American companies taking over more and more markets of the economies of its puppet states, effectively making these countries fully dependent on America. (like the UK, Germany, South Korea, Japan etc) On what grounds was the Soviet Union "more imperialistic" than the USA??? I'd agree it was more authoritarian domestically, especially so during the Stalin years, (when even many communists were purged) but the anti-colonial and largely anti-racist before any other European state Soviet Union was certainly far less imperialistic than America on pretty much all metrics!

These were their possessions, which they could dispose of as they pleased. If you say that “no one will squander Russian land,” then the Bolsheviks should also be condemned. But in fact, Alexander II sold Alaska in order to quickly end the crisis after the Crimean War and turn on Russia’s reflection machine, which was what it needed. He exchanged Alaska to pay off debt to other countries, the end of the Caucasian War, and God knows where history would have turned if Russia had not had a false start in the form of 7 million dollars after the Crimean War, by the way this is at the time of 2023, 7 million dollars in 1867 are equal to 730 million dollars. Alska being Sold to America actually might have delayed or even helped prevent WW3 and the Cold Wars escalation.

Exactly Unfortunately most people who think Alaska should not have been sold only have this opinion because they have been taught propoganda instead of history.
The truth is that when Alaska was sold. Russia was facing a geo-political challenge (primarily)
in the form of the Crimean war.
As the Crimean war progressed, Russia’s weakness in the Far East became painfully apparent and the presence of
the British in North America loomed as an increasingly serious threat to Russian held territory.
The reality of the situation was,
Any proceeds Russia was making from Alaska (manly in the from the fur business)
no longer justified the cost and difficulty of defending it.
This combined with the fact that Russia was having enough trouble defending just the
Kamchatka peninsula. Made Russia's sale of Alaska the correct decision, both economically and militarily.

Being Russian, I do not believe that we should return Alaska “to its native harbor”... While praising our Emperors, we must acknowledge the fact that they are monarchs. Or 64 billion rubles for 2023. This really was the right decision at that time.

love this song haha

When you gave your most valuable treasure to your enemy :
На тот момент США и Российская империя были лучшими друзьями и имели общего врага - Британия. Российская империя помогла США отстоять независимость от Британии, а США вместо того чтобы силой отобрать Аляску купили её у России чтобы Россия не ослабла политически.
Frajerzy 😂
Alaska rightfully belongs to glorious ethiopia

Nah, we ganna be fools
Unfortunately most people who think Alaska should not have been sold only have this opinion because they have been taught propoganda instead of history.
The truth is that when Alaska was sold Russia was facing a large geo-political challenge (primarily)
in the form of the Crimean war.
Dear Russia, try and take it back, try it
